Stuckey Strikes out on Mormons: A Response to Allie Beth Stuckey and Lynn Wilder. Allie Beth Stuckey is a Christian commentator who works for the Blaze, a conservative media outlet. And she interviewed Lynn Wilder, a lady who converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with her husband when she was in her 20’s, she eventually taught at Brigham Young University, and 30 years after she joined she left the Church and became an Evangelical. Ultimately Wilder admits to a surprising lack of knowledge surrounding the scriptures and doctrine while she was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ and a professor at BYU, and both her and Stuckey don’t seem to have a good grasp on the subjects they discuss in this interview. I hope that everyone who follows Christ finds the joy and peace that He promises, and I just wish that this interview was a little bit more focused on getting facts about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints correct, as well as inviting others to come and see the Savior of the World for themselves, regardless of the real or perceived denominational disagreements. The Only Reasonable Origin of the Book of Mormon. This video is a super cut of sorts, where I’ve gathered some of the best and most convincing research of the Book of Mormon into one place. I start off and end with the testimony of Elder Holland on the Book of Mormon, and then go into FAIR talks on the various origin theories for the Book of Mormon and why they lack merit, a FAIR talk analyzing the various voices and word choices of different characters within the Book of Mormon, a detailed look into the circumstances and witnesses of the Book of Mormon, and the final logic tree of why I think the only reasonable origin of the Book of Mormon is that it is from God. All these arguments and facts are nice to bolster my testimony, but ultimately I believe the Book of Mormon is the Word of God because I have studied it many times, and continue to get the answers and assurances from God that it is His word, and that by studying the Book of Mormon I have come closer to Christ than from any other book. I look into the study called Demonstrations and Political Violence in America, and it is pretty biased. This study is known for stating that protests are mostly peaceful, particularly that 93% of protests are peaceful. I go through many of the specific examples it gives, from Micheal Brown, to Rashard Brooks, to Jacob Blake, and the study also covers the activities in Lafayette Square, CHAZ, and Portland. I think this study had some interesting data, and I appreciate having it, but considering the red flags I saw in this study, I still don’t think the term ‘mostly peaceful protests’ applies nearly as often as it is used. NPR Drives Me Crazy. NPR isn’t unbiased, in fact NPR pretends to be neutral, but in some ways I would say NPR has radicalized me. Whether NPR is projecting modern gender theory onto an ancient warrior with a genetic disorder, talking about how cringe it is to not use the term LatinX, openly saying their own journalists can be activists as long as they think it won’t effect their own work, or adding a disclaimer to reading the declaration of independence, I wish NPR would act more like the impartial news outlet it purports to be, instead of the biased and tax-payer subsidized outlet it actually is. This is a response video on incomparable world views, specifically discussing expressive individualism, Johnny Harris’ video “Why I Left the Mormon Church”, and the world view of Christianity in general, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints specifically. Johnny embraced the worldview of expressive individualism that put him at odds with the Christian faith. Then he moved from a place of being a religious majority to a minority, and he decided that a year’s worth of prayer and study was sufficient to get an answer from God. The biggest issue in my mind is that Johnny seems to believe that ‘self expression and self actualization’ can and should trump and be at odds with Obedience to God. To me it is obvious that if there is a God Who is our Heavenly Father, obedience to His commandments would be the only way to truly achieve self actualization. A response video to Rhett and Link’s Spiritual Deconstruction podcasts they did on Ear Biscuits. Rhett and Link are famous youtubers, probably most famous for their show called Good Mythical Morning, and previously they were fairly forward with their faith, but recently on their podcast they did a deconstruction on their faith. They invited others to tell their story, so here is mine. I talk about faith in Christ and belief in God, and then go through examples of things Rhett and Link said that I’ve also heard other people who have left their faith say. NPR, a former news source, has lost a lot of credibility in my eyes. It started out running an article in defense of looting, then an article that said that unfettered free speech Is a threat to democracy. These were red flags, but after that, NPR also published several stories with unverified sources that target President Trump. I would be OK with this kind of standard NPR has established, but it isn’t applied equally. Because recently, the New York Post published files from a laptop owned by Joe Biden’s son that if true, and what does NPR say? That this story is a politically driven event, and as such doesn’t deserve to be covered. If NPR wants to have high standards for its reporting, I’m OK with that. But I’m not OK with a taxpayer funded news station having blatantly political double standards. Civil Rights Hijackers include Al Sharpton and Joy Reid in this episode of Divisive Definitions. I take a look at race hustlers who have used recent events, specifically Kim Potter’s shooting of Daunte Wright, as evidence of ‘systemic racism’ or part of some larger racial narrative. This racializing of tragedies has happened recently with Micheal Brown, Breonna Taylor, Rayshard Brooks, Jacob Blake, Kyle Rittenhouse, Daunte Wright, Ma'kia Bryant, and Gabby Petito to name a few. Now you might be saying – ‘this is easy to take shots at people’s statements now that the facts are all out.’ But I disagree – the easy thing is to be a race hustler and try to push an agenda off of a tragedy, the hard thing to do is to bite your tongue, wait for the facts to come out, and be reliable and reasonable. This is a response to Sarah Z, a response video because I think she made a bad video essay on debating. Well, I should say a good video essay on debating with very biased examples. Sarah talks about why we debate, and what one can truly learn from a debate, and there I think she did a really good job! I’m finally doing a video on climate change by the data. There’s so much climate change confusion that I wanted to do this video on climate change explained simply. I cover temperature and CO2, scientific consensus, climate vs weather, and finally what we can do about it moving forward. And so you know my bias going in, I’m an American conservative. The Importance of Curiosity and Investigation: A discussion of Conspiracies - Folding Ideas Response. Folding Ideas put together a video that covered both flat earthers and Qanon believers. But do you know what drives me crazy? He doesn’t seem to have ‘fact checked’ or ‘thought for himself’ on this topic. He talks about people who ‘fixate on co-morbid vaccine conspiracies or bleach treatment conspiracies and start giving their children bleach’, when in reality government entities are now telling us about the negative side effects of the Covid shot, and that as far as I could research I couldn't actually find a single story about anyone drinking or injecting bleach because they heard it would fight Covid. To paraphrase Common Sense Soap Box, ‘there are a lot of insane theories out there, but just because flat earthers are a thing doesn’t mean that every conspiracy theory is insane. And dismissing everything you disagree with as a ‘conspiracy theory’ is just as crazy if not crazier than believing in the most crack-pot theories’. A Response to an “Open Letter on Book Banning”. Have you heard people discussing book bans of late? Because recently a Utah author put out an “Open letter on book banning” that I wanted to highlight. The only two instances I can find when I searched for “Utah banned books” was from last year that listed 9 books pulled from a Utah school district’s libraries, and one from earlier this year that cited 52 restricted books in a different school district. This is why this letter makes me angry. To write a letter because you are concerned about “vitriol and hatred” aimed at certain books, and skip over the literal pornographic nature of said books makes me think that either 1) this letter was written and endorsed with the best of intentions using very limited or biased knowledge on the subject or 2) it was written and endorsed to try and distract from the blatant sexualization of children's books. Mike Lee vs Evan McMullin Debate Recap: As a Utah resident I’ve been following the Utah Senate midterm elections with interest, and now that the general election debate has happened, I’d like to recap my thoughts on the most interesting parts of that debate! The debate was spicy, honestly similar to the ads that have been running from both sides. I go over both parties take on federal spending, and then address McMullin’s statements that Lee ‘urged the white house when it lost to find fake electors to overturn the will of the people’ and that ‘that was the most egregious betrayal of our nation’s constitution in its history by a US senator’. So I go and read the relevant portions of text messages between Mike Lee and Marc Meadows (President Trump’s Chief of Staff) that were obtained and published earlier this year. Even if we look on Lee’s actions in the absolute worst light and intentions possible, to say his actions were the most egregious in history is laughable. I go back and cover spending because it doesn’t seem like Lee can do right in McMullin’s eyes. If Lee goes along with spending he is part of the problem, and if he opposes it he is part of the problem. Seems like a catch 22 to me. I also briefly address the third party ads. You are more likely to die from communism. In this video I show proof that communism is worse by calculating the death per capita rate of capitalism and communism in the 20th century (because who doesn’t love analyzing 20th century death counts?). Now I don’t think the original claim of capitalism’s death count is fair, but even if someone makes the claim that ‘capitalism has killed 100 million people’, that still puts it at half the death rate per capita of communism - you are less likely to die from capitalism. Communism simply has killed at least twice as many people per capita compared to capitalism. The first episode of Divisive Definitions: Political Vocabulary Defined. This episode covers commons sense gun control and gun reform. This looks at the gun control debate from both sides in 2020, and presents the various arguments. I define a lot of terms and vocabulary involved, and ultimately come to the conclusion that if ‘common sense’ needs this much explanation, that probably means it isn’t as common sense as the name implies. The second in a short series answer the question, are Mormons Christian? This second episode is called Mormons and the Trinity, but the real name of the Mormons are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but because I’m trying to approach the topic from a generically Christian perspective, I’m using the Church’s nickname to more easily answer people who have questions like, “What do Mormons believe about God?”, or “Do Mormons believe in a different Jesus” Anyway, I go over several takes on the council at Nicaea, and the Nicene Creed, in an effort to point out that many things in Christianity are open to interpretation and have been for a while – including the Trinity. And ultimately, I feel we “are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus,” regardless of the specific church or sect of Christianity.
