I am excited to work with you. Let me share a bit about who I am and why I am so passionate about the work of Authentica. I was born and raised in the great state of Nebraska. My greatest joy in life is my family. I am married to a wonderful husband and we have four adult children and four dogs and 1 cat. After high school graduation I had big dreams of living in the Big Apple, but after a few significant life events my plans changed and those ideas of moving to NYC slowly drifted away, but my entire journey is what led me right here. During my professional career, I became an expert in the sales and marketing arena, I led teams, developed business growth strategies, partnered with Fortune - 100 companies, and held C-suite positions. In 2020, I was faced with the biggest change in my professional career, I was out of a job. I started to consider building my own business at that moment, but for some reason, I wasn't ready so I took what I call a rebound job that lasted about 18 months, regardless of how successful I was the job was no longer filling my soul. After 30 years of working in Corporate America --- I had a calling and I knew it was time for a change! I am absolutely thrilled to follow my passion and get the opportunity to work closely with individuals and businesses to help people navigate their personal and professional journeys. When I look back at my career as a leader, my goal with every interaction was always to make a positive impact on others. I believed my job as a leader was to authentically teach and give back, so when the time came for me to pivot and leave Corporate America, I knew it was my time to be there for others as they work to achieve their best selves! At Authentica, my mission is to create a trusted environment where we collaborate, share experiences, learn, grow, and connect, whether through group settings or one-on-one sessions. https://www.tinabakehouse.com NICE TO MEET YOU! Growing up on a farm in southwest Iowa, I found fun in performing, teaching, and learning. Using my front porch as a proscenium stage, I created radio talk shows with my tan 1980s Fisher Price tape recorder and orange sponge microphone. I composed scripts with my siblings and acted them out annually for my parent’s anniversary. I practiced monologues and speeches for high school competitions. Now, with my enthusiastic passion for performance, I’m transferring what I loved as a child into my adulthood career (with updated technology, of course). Then, in 2007, I lost my voice. My voice was completely gone. More than laryngitis, it was vocal polyps, just like Julie Andrews. This vocal condition was due to stress, strain, and overuse. I met weekly with a speech pathologist for vocal therapy and saw a throat specialist who gave me two choices: surgery to remove the polyps, which could permanently change my voice, or complete silence for six weeks. I chose silence. In those six weeks, I realized the importance of listening and being fully present with others. I also realized how my vocal and nonverbal presence defined who I am and influenced my communication with others. After lots of therapy and rest, my voice recouped, and I left the high school teaching arena after six years of teaching speech and English. Following 10 years of collegiate teaching at Creighton University, including starting a communication center for one-on-one coaching and consulting, I decided to try something new: leave education and work as an outreach and communication coordinator for a nonprofit. Burnout sneaked in. I made a difficult decision to jump out of a plane (figuratively) to try something new (again) by working for a bank as a Chief Creative Officer. Then came an international pandemic.
