A terrifyingly plausible journey into the disturbing nerve-centers of medical science where our secret future is formed today.
When Peter Carson is invited to the pioneering Jenner Clinic by one of the lab assistants, he's naturally intrigued. But when he arrives at the remote site in the Cumbrian fells to find police roadblocks and official silence, he realises that he's stumbled onto a story that will do him no good at all.
Dr Jenner's work matters to the government. Enough to warrant unlimited funding, high security, and the best technicians in the country. But something has gone badly wrong. The project that has no room for mistakes has produced a result so terrible that it must never see the light of day. And now the evidence must be destroyed, whatever the cost.

Unman, Wittering and Zigo are the last three names on the roll call for Lower 5B, a form full of malignant malcontents at Chantry School: it explains the title of the play, and the names of many of the characters.
Giles Cooper (1918-1966) was arguably the greatest British radio dramatist of the 20th century. Trained as an actor, he wrote 33 original radio dramas which were broadcast on the BBC Home Service, Light Programme and the Third Programme.

The Babington Plot by Michael Butt. BBC RADIO DRAMA
A BBC Radio drama based on an actual historical event.
In 16th Century England during the reign of Elizabeth I, a group of Catholic gentlemen stirred up by outlawed Catholic priest John Ballard conceived a plan to assassinate the Protestant Queen and supplant her with her Catholic cousin Mary Queen of Scots. The leader of this plot was young Anthony Babington, a rather vapid young aristocrat...and the last person anyone would suspect of even thinking of trying to overthrow the government.
The plot failed and almost all of the conspirators were arrested, tried for treason and executed in the most horrible method imaginable ... hanging, drawing and quartering.
The story of the failed conspiracy, told in documentary fashion on its one-year anniversary, is revealed via the different perspectives of several participants in the events ... some of them genuine conspirators, some of them innocent onlookers, some government agents working to uncover the plot and some of them government spies who had infiltrated the group.
Was there actually more to the story than simply a conspiracy to overthrow the government...and was there more to Anthony Babington than he seemed or than history has revealed?
