Over an hour of the flowing Creek. I call her "Phaedra". See relaxing waterfalls, bubbling, swirling, mini whirlpools, glittering sandy creek bottom, water tripping and splashing over fallen logs, and moss covered rocks, green as Emeralds! Follow Phaedra's journey to the mouth of the Creek, where it meets, and becomes, part of the Lake! This looks like either a Doe and a Fawn, or two Fawns. The are similar in size, but I wonder, if they are Fawns, where is the Doe? She is likely nearby, watching from a distance. As for the truck, and the garbage, that belongs to the neighbors. Not so nice huh?

By the time I got back to the Cabin, the Indian Pipe Plant was dead. I took a couple of the flowerheads anyway. If you are going to harvest these plants, please wait until they have been pollinated. When the plant first comes out of the ground, the flower heads will be turned downward, towards the ground. After they are pollinated, usually by Bumblebees, the flowerhead becomes erect, as I showed in the previous video. There are slits in the sides of the flowerhead, and the wind, or an animal bumping the plant, disburses the seeds. If you want this perennial plant to return year after year, it is best NOT to take the flowerheads before they have been pollinated. And PLEASE don't dig up the plant, or take the roots. It won't grow anywhere else anyway, as it needs the nutrient web, found in the soil, among Beech trees, Pine trees, and Russulaceae mushrooms, to feed itself. You don't need the roots, or the flowerhead before it is pollinated, in order to make a tincture. A video on the tincture making is coming soon.

These plants are not a fungus. They are a plant that uses nutrients in the soil to make food, as they have no chlorophyll. They grow where there are Beech and Pine trees, and mushrooms from the Russulaceae Family. The nutrients from the mushrooms, and the trees, transfers to the Indian Pipe Plant. This one was just a few steps from the Cabin steps. There is another one at the Garage Site. You can make a tincture from this plant, a mild pain reliever, and sedative, which I will be attempting soon. Do not ingest any wild plant or tincture, unless you know what you are doing! Always use caution!

He's back! This is the "chirping" sound I mentioned before. Imagine the trees full of Red Squirrels, chirping and screeching at you, in the pitch black of night, on a dark trail! Of course, now that we know what is making that racket, it isn't so scary!

I recorded some of the Creek that runs at the foot of the Cabin. I call "her" "Phaedra". We don't move the fallen trees, or alter it in any way. The waterfalls and quiet pools are natural. There is some erosion at the mouth of the Creek, where it enters the Lake. This, we will have to do something about, for example, plant some evergreen trees, as their root system is best for stopping erosion. Enjoy!

This is the Sun Mar Composting Toilet. Not yet installed, but was almost finished, when a wind storm this winter, destroyed this shed, that we were going to use as an outhouse. "A" couldn't find the shed doors, the toilet vent pipes, and one garbage can was ruined. Now we start over. We are going to build a proper outhouse/bathroom with wood, insulated, including a bathtub, sink, cabinet, and with a large deck surrounding the outside! We start in April! Tune In!

I spotted this little guy from inside the Cabin! You don't see Red Squirrels very often. They like to hide in the trees, and chirp at you from a distance. Their alarm call sounds like monkeys screeching in the trees! I found the leftovers of a mushroom cap this little one was eating. He stashed it on top of the BBQ. I hope to see him again! (I saw him again!)

The sound of the WIND may be loud if you are wearing headphones! Alone at the Cabin. A wind storm advisory. I couldn't resist going out onto the porch to watch. I decided it was getting too windy, and went to go inside. The wind almost blew the screen door OFF!! Sorry for the swearing at the end...! Only a few trees were blown down. Thankfully, no damage to any structures.

I was taking apart the old pine shelving, inside the Cabin, when I noticed this bright golden light over my shoulder. I turned and noticed this amazing Sunset!! I had to capture this. Very cold outside, shivering, I stood there until the Sun was set. At one point, it looks like there are TWO Suns! One in the West, and one in the North-West! Hope you enjoy!

It gets cold this time of year, so it's time to fire up the wood stove. I have been taking the pine shelving apart, (pantry shelving), and the 2x4's are good for kindling. The wood is very dry and lights easily. When making a fire, you have to leave a window open in the Cabin, so the stove can draft, otherwise, you have a Cabin full of smoke. I always leave the window over my bed, open a few inches anyway, in case of a Carbon Monoxide leak. If you want to heat the second floor, and the loft, you should open up an upstairs window. This allows the heat to rise to the second floor, replacing the cold air escaping from the open window. Once lit, stoke the fire with a few logs, (hardwood burns longer than softwood), close and lock the wood stove door, and set the air vent at the bottom of the stove. Settle down in a nice comfy sleeping bag, (I have a "Mummy Bag"), and enjoy a good book! Stay Safe Friends!
