2000 Mules. Or: every senile politician could have made this mistake
More optimistic about the outcome of the Midterms of '22 and the US Presidential elections of 2024 than about the effect of the (very good) movie by Dinesh D'Souza.
The title of this post refers to the opening scene of the movie 2000 Mules.
It shows former vice president Biden who spoke -before the 2020 elections- about very special accomplishments of his party: Joe Biden says he’s built most extensive “voter fraud” org in history. Link to video below. Nobody claims that the video was edited!
The defense is that the statement of Biden was recontextualised.

No, not canonising Winston Churchill
This video is about quite a number of different subjects. One of those is the really very peculiar aspect of religious doctrines on “superstitions and false religions”.
At the website OldDutchPunter dot works direct links to last week’s video, the article by George Mitchell, the article by the Sahara Reporters and to the article by the British anti-Churchill, anti-Trump professor are included in the text.

Not your average Whit Sunday sermon
A video about a longer text.
In a way it is a video about the huge difference between Europe and the USA. To quote Randy Newman:
Step out into the light
You’re the best dream man has ever dreamed
And may all your Christmases be white
While I made the video I was again amazed by the facts about the Salem Witchhunt. Among those: the year, 1692.

My father died a year before this church was demolished. A few years ago there was some kind of a contest in the Netherlands wherein this church was named as one of the most beautiful demolished buildings. My family regularly visited its rectory: she worked there and my parents met there during WW II.<br>\

Charles County and the mules
In 1963 and in 1991 parts of Charles County in Maryland USA, were very poor, I found out recently. In 2020 Joe Biden won with an amazing lead: much bigger than Clinton did in 2016. Most remarkable result: in this county Biden collected less than 9% of his votes on election day. How blue are these state and county? Or might one wonder how politically corrupt?

Judicial internationalism
There is something rotten in the Netherlands. In parliament, in government and -in my not so humble opinion even more worrying- in the judicial system.
The Dutch version of the text the video refers to can be found here.

Bible reading: the Apex of Misogyny
Writing, reading and comments in Dutch, English subtitled.
Deliberately no English versions of the Old Testament were consulted for the literal quotes. I know, and probably you do too, that the differences are of minor importance.

Rudi Dutschke’s mind blowing success
Political commenting while ironing.
No shirt was ruined while making this video.
Three years ago I wrote a text about Dutschke in Dutch on the website VerenOfLood.nu. In a note below an explanation of my vote. I repeat the complete note here for a reason:
Superficially the hero of many radical world reformers, Rudi Dutschke 1), had a sympathetic reason for his plea for the strategic choice to acquire positions of power in all kinds of institutions: he was against the then emerging terror of groups such as the Red Army Faction 2), also known as the Baader Meinhof group. But that was just a strategic choice. He did name his oldest son Che: after the notorious racist murderer Guevara. Another son is active for the German Grünen. I recommend the wikipedia page 3) about the mother of those children for those who like to shiver.
The reason I include the complete text is in the links/numbers 1-2-3. Those links all lead to revolutionary wikipedia texts. Today checking these texts again I stumbled upon the (un)reliabliity of wikipedia texts when they address anything (even slightly) political / controversial.
The texts had changed in the more communist direction, especially the last one about this Gretchen Dutschke-Klotz: by now it was still shocking but did not make me shiver.
You can not make this up: the subject of her theology [!] thesis was revolutionary movements in the time of Jesus Christ …
My wiki-link lead to the German page about this peson of course: much more informative than the English one. I did not try to check the Arab, Hungarian and Spanish versions …

Expressionism? I do want to cry out..
Colourizing old movies: I saw great examples of it before and today I discovered that a fellow Dutchman called Rick is doing a really great job in this field. Here an example of his work: The Attack on Pearl Harbour.
This blogpost is about something completely different, yet in a way comparable. I chose this example-link to the work of Rick because my oil painting in the making has a direct connection to Pearl Harbour too.

No civilization without Ladies & Gentlemen
Again a completely different video by the Old Dutch Painter (website: OldDutchPainter dot works).
A video to support the Distinghuised Gentlemans Ride.
Of course it is not very short: it includes remarks about history.
The link to the account of Toscan Verheij gives access to all relevant information about the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride(s) on May 22 and the cause it stands for: https://www.gentlemansride.com/fundraiser/ToscanVerheij437596
The technique of the website is exquisite too!

Varnishing a Triptych
I paint not only to produce something beautiful, but also to get in a better mood.
Funny: exactly at the half of the video the camera automatically changes the focus and so emphasises the effect of the varnishing.
P.S.: I drastically modified the wall on which the triptych is hung to give it a sort of marble effect.

A military cemetery in Spremberg: Sonst Nichts...
I had to make a video like this when I discovered that I was in the east of Germany only 25 km away from the ‘Sowjetischer Soldaten Friedhof’, in English: 'Soviet soldiers cemetery'. Especially after the quite impressive images I found of it on the internet I thought it would be good to go there and record a video in this time of the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the growing hysteria, hoaxing and war-mongering.
In these times it is good to think a little bit about the forties of last century: It is good to reconsider the complex and horrible clash of nazism, communism and the free world.
Let us please realise that Mr Putin not only ‘remembers’ -so to speak- the horrors of communism but also of nazi-hatred towards Russia; NO, not ‘just’ to the Russian nation but to all slavic people and the Russian people in particular!
The horror and complexity are back and many seem to eagerly go back to the decades of the Cold War.
