Majestic giraffes casually stroll down the pathE
These beautiful animals were just out enjoying the sunshine. These lucky motorists were in complete awe.as they watched two of the tallest terrestrial animals casually strolled down the road toward them. Capturing the moment on video and in photographs, the tourists were amazed by how unconcerned they were with the humans being present.
Giraffes feed on leaves, fruits and flowers, with the ability to reach food that other herbivores cannot. Lions, leopards, hyenas and wild dogs all prey on giraffes, when they can, but a full grown giraffe is a formidable animal. They can swing their head like a club and their powerful legs enable them to deliver deadly hoof strikes.
The long neck of the giraffe allows it to see predators a long way off. Other species rely on this, using the giraffe like a sentinel to warn of approaching danger. Herds of other animals will often follow the giraffe and keep a close eye on their behaviour, for safety.
Male giraffes closely follow the females during mating seasons, but they do not take an active role in the care of the young. A male will taste the urine of the female to determine her fertility state. After breeding, the female will carry the baby for 400-460m days before she gives birth. She does so standing up and the calf will fall to the ground, severing the umbilical cord.
A newborn will be able to walk and run within hours and is as mobile as a one week old calf. During the first 2-3 weeks of their life, the calf will remain hidden while the mother grazes and keeps a watchful eye out for danger. If all goes well, the calf will live up to 38 years.
Giraffes are perhaps the most majestic, and one of the most beautiful animals on earth.

Goat with neurological damage jumps for joy at sanctuary
Judi is a goat who was born with neurological problems that made it impossible for her to walk or lead a normal life. Destined to be slaughtered and discarded soon after birth, as if her life had no value, she had not yet known the joy of sunshine on her face, or running in a meadow. Miraculously, she was found by Jennifer and Jim who run the Black Dog Farm and Rescue in Texas. She was taken home, fed by hand, and given a new chance at life.
Judi required daily massages and rehabilitative therapy to keep her legs muscles from atrophying. The discomfort of taking even a few assisted steps in the early days left her exhausted and in need of a lot of TLC. But, with consistent effort and a gradual increase in her exercise, Judi learned to stand, then to walk unaided. She saw the other animals running and she was eager to keep up. With encouragement and support, Judi is now able to run around, even though it slow and clumsy, in comparison with the other goats here.
But Judi doesn't care how she looks when she romps and plays. Here, she is excited to see her human friends return to the yard and she tries to leap with joy. She lands awkwardly and completely loses her balance, but that does not deter this amazing little goat. She rights herself and runs toward her rescuers with happiness.
Black Dog Farm and Rescue began with Faline, a black pit bull who had been neglected and abandoned. She responded so well to the kind voices and gentle hands of Jennifer and Jim, that they were inspired to do more for the beautiful souls who also need help. They opened their sanctuary in Texas and began doing what seemed impossible. They heal the broken animals and care for the most desperate cases, giving them the chance that they deserve.
Black Dog Farm can be found on Facebook. They do amazing work, which is only possible with the support of friends, family and other animal lovers. Please check out their page and consider helping them do the work that these little creatures so richly deserve.

Highland cow runs for treats and it's too adorable!
Claire is one of the happiest residents at the Black Dog Farm and Rescue in Texas. She's an adorable young highland cow who has found a safe place and a forever home. She is loving life so much that she actually runs and shakes her head in anticipation when the treats are offered.
These cows live on a magical farm in Texas known as Black Dog Farm and Rescue. It's a place where animals of all kinds find sanctuary and love. Here, they have been living the good life, but it wasn't always so easy for these gentle beasts. Each of them has found their way here due to medical issues of other problems that made them too expensive for their owners to keep them on the farm where they once lived. In the farming world, an animal that costs more than they are valued at must have their time cut short.
But at this wonderful sanctuary, animals come here to find the help they need, as well as a forever home. Claire has been here almost a year and she has been soaking up the love and feasting on the ample supply of food. She and the other cows play and interact with the family that runs this farm. They have learned to trust their humans completely.

Endangered sea turtle gets a little help from fishermen in Belize
Loggerheads are endangered sea turtles that inhabit the waters of Mexico, Belize and other areas of the Caribbean. But their numbers are dwindling as their habitat is affected by pollution and their nesting areas are being destroyed by development.
This loggerhead is named "Scarface" due to an injury that left him permanently disfigured and without one eye. Yet, he still thrives and seems to have no problems. Scarface has captured the hearts of locals, tourists, and fishermen. He frequents an area of the reef on San Pedro Island where the fishermen go to clean their catch.
Scarface approaches the boat and begs for conch and fish scraps. They cannot resist his antics or his playful nature and they always provide him with a little bit of their catch. Scarface has a voracious appetite and would eat their entire catch if they continued to feed him until it was gone.
The fishermen love Scarface and they don't mind at all giving him a little help to compensate for his injury. Scarface is friendly with swimmers as well, but his curious nature causes him to nibble or test bite almost anything that he can get his beak on. He has been known to bite tourists, although he has never caused any injury or harm.

Overjoyed golden retriever puppies flow like a river of cuteness into back yard
Golden retriever puppies might be the fluffiest, cutest, most adorable animals in the world. Their beautiful faces seemed to be locked in a perpetual smile as they approach each new moment with excitement and joy. They bounce, run, roll, and fall adorably over each other to get to anything new and interesting.
These puppies are enjoying their last few days with their breeders at As Good As Gold near Peterborough, Ontario. They will soon be going to their carefully selected forever homes, many of them with children to play with all day long. Golden retrievers make wonderful pets and family companions and they are exceptionally good with children.
These puppies love their back yard playtime and they are thrilled when the nap time enclosure opens and the green grass and open air await. They flow like a river of furriness over the steps and leap through the air into the yard. Once there, they will dig in the dirt, chew at anything new, and sniff at their parents through the fence. The older dogs are eager to join in the fun too and they wait patiently at the gate for their turn to come in and be with the pups.
One of the best parts of all though is when the mothers come in and stand still so the pups can latch on and enjoy a drink of fresh milk. The puppies have been eating solid food for a few days and their milk drinking will soon come to an end. The mothers will be relieved and will finally have more time for their own fun when this duty is over. Mother golden retrievers are incredible parents.
When selecting a breeder, it is not hard to find an operation such as this one where dog health and well-being is the highest priority. You will know a good breeder or kennel because they will proudly show you their facilities, the parents, the pups, and they will offer advice on nutrition, vet care, and dog health. Past clients and veterinarians can provide background and inside advice on their quality and their ability to provide ongoing support. And very importantly, prospective clients will also feel that they too, are being interviewed and assessed for their own suitability as dog owners. It is well worth the time to seek out proper breeders and boycott back yard puppy mills.

Playful sea lions are curious about swimmer's camera in the Galapagos Islands
Sea lions are delightful animals that frequent the coast on most of the Galapagos Islands. Playful and curious, they are as lovable as our furry canine friends. In fact, they have long been referred to as "Sea dogs". They are graceful and agile in the water and they have no reason to fear humans. Residents and tourists maintain a strict "hands off" policy and they keep a respectful distance. The animals here have learned to coexist with people and the people have learned the same.
But, in the water, if sea lions want to play, there is no avoiding it, and it is completely their choice to disregard the 2m distance rule if they wish. Thes young sea lions captured the heart of this videographer as she recorded them looking into her camera and swimming all around her. They never once touched her and she did not touch them, but they frolicked within inches of her. If she rolled or dove, they would do the same, clearly enjoying the games with this clumsy new friend.
Sea lions are beautiful animals and to spend time in the water with them is to fall in love with them.

Giraffes and rhinos casually cross the road in front of traffic
Visiting a safari is a wonderful way to see animals in a natural environment. Free to roam huge expanses of protected area where they are in no danger from poachers or hunters, the animals enjoy a safe and happy life. These giraffes and rhinos gave tourists a real treat as they wandered from the bush and crossed the road right in front of the vehicle.
Giraffes and rhinoceros' are gentle creatures that pose no danger to humans, unless harassed or threatened. Even still, seeing them close up from the safety of a car is advisable. To watch them walk gracefully across the road only a few metres away is an unforgettable experience.
The rhino actually stopped and looked directly at the car before deciding he wanted to cross. Despite weighing up to 2300kg, and being as solid and indestructible as an armoured tank, this great beast is a cautious one.
Rhinos are herbivores, eating only plants. Surprisingly, they are able to ferment food in their hindgut, allowing them to eat coarse and fibrous plants when necessary. Once full grown, their only predators are humans. Hunted for their horns that are sold in illegal trade, poaching has brought them to the brink of extinction. Laws are currently being challenged and redrafted, allowing the sale of some rhino products. Boycotting this industry is the best way to stop it and protect these beautiful animals.

Stealthy wild deer incredibly pickpockets this man for corn
This is a wild deer that lives in a beautiful forest where hunting is not allowed. It is a protected area and the deer have been accustomed to the safety of this wonderful place. They have become accustomed to humans as well and have developed enough trust that they do not flee at the sight of a person. Watching from a distance is not difficult, but approaching closer is generally not something they will tolerate.
This man has found that by remaining very still and patiently waiting, the deer will approach curiously and they will sniff at him and even allow him to hand feed them. After this deer figured out that the man had more corn in his pocket, the deer decided to stick its nose right in and help itself. It was actually confident enough to pick his pockets. This was shocking and amusing to the man with the corn and he couldn’t help but laugh at this very bold little deer.
Expecting that the deer might venture close enough to get some interesting footage, there was a camera mounted on a tree branch above. But nobody would have ever expected footage quite like this!

Rescued baby ducklings splash with joy when let free on a pond
These rescued baby ducklings are thrilled to be experiencing their new home. They only stayed here a short while until transportation was arranged to a proper wildlife rehabilitation centre. The ducks were found by a kind motorist who stopped after seeing that their mother had been hit by a car while crossing a road. With the help of a friend, he was able to catch all of the ducklings and take them to a wonderful woman named Lucy who cares for animals of all sorts. She runs Wagging Tails Pet Resort and she is famous for her rescue efforts. The ducklings spent their first night protected and warm before making their way to a nearby veterinarian with a small pond.
The veterinarian checked the ducklings and reached out to wildlife rehabilitation centres, finally locating one with some room for a little family of baby ducks. She took them three hours by car to their more permanent home where they were cared for until they could be released.
Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre deserves full credit for taking these little orphans in. They do incredible work. Thanks to a real team of animal lovers, these ducklings had a second chance.

Rescued pig rolls over on command for belly rubs
Meeka is a wonderful pig with a love for people. She also loves attention. She is a very lucky pig and the smile on her face shows that she knows it. Meeka belonged to a loving owner and lived in a wonderful home that she shared with her brother, Hilton. Hilton and Meeka were bought as tiny piglets that had been advertised as miniature pot bellied pigs. As it turns out, they grew much more quickly than expected into two very large pets. They soon became well over 100lbs and they became more of a handful than the owners could manage.
They were people pigs now though and could not be placed on an ordinary farm. And they could not be kept indoors. The pigs faced a serious dilemma with no place to go. But there was one place where these beautiful and intelligent creatures would be welcomed with open arms. A woman named Lucy Davidson runs a pet boarding haven called Wagging Tails Pet Retreat in Millbrook, Ontario. The facility is part of a huge expanse of land and a farm where many different animals have found a home. Lucy is known far and wide for her huge heart and her history of caring for animals that have no place to go. She took one look at these pigs and knew that they would love life at her farm. Meeka and Hilton love their food, as all pigs do, and having been pets, they are used to people hand feeding them. They are gentle and careful and they wag their tails like happy dogs when they are given treats or shown love.
Meeka is particularly fond of belly rubs. She knows the words and she will lie down on command to get her belly rubbed or patted.
This wonderful farm is home to a donkey, horses, dogs, cats, pigs, and many other animals. Each of these animals is here because they have faced a struggle or challenge, but each one has found the best home an animal could ever want!E

Curious sea turtle nibbles and investigates scuba diver's camera
Sea turtles are one of the most endearing animals in the underwater world. Scuba divers delight in swimming with them and taking photographs and videos. Even those who do not venture beneath the waves dream of seeing one in the wild and getting a close look. Usually shy and reclusive, sea turtles avoid humans and most often swim away soon after being spotted. But occasionally, a lucky scuba diver will have an interactive close up experience like this one and they will not soon forget the encounter.
This green turtle is a threatened species but there is a healthy population of them on several reefs in Mexico, where this inquisitive little fellow lives. A young turtle, and full of curiosity, he spent some time looking at Kristy and her camera. He checked her out for a minute or more before he spotted her diver partner, and husband, Dave a little ways away. He turned and swam directly to Dave, immediately focusing on his GoPro camera.
As if it were something to taste, he opened wide and tried several times to nibble on the camera. Almost indestructible, the camera will easily stand up to even the powerful jaws of a sea turtle, so Dave wasn’t at all worried and he let the turtle chomp away. Completely fascinated with the turtles behaviour, Dave drifted along, staring at the amusing little creature. Other divers in the group watched with equal fascination. The turtle actually bit at the camera from different angles several times. Sea turtles are not aggressive at all and Dave was never in danger of being bitten. An interaction like this doesn’t happen every day and this is a dive that Dave and Kristy will never forget. As a bonus, this dive resulted in some very unusual footage as well as a few laughs.

Curious pufferfish is adorable but extremely deadly to predators
Pufferfish are strange and fascinating creatures. They have enormous faces with huge, bulging eyes. Their mouths are almost human in appearance. They have a baby faced look that is very endearing.
Clumsy swimmers, they are not swift enough to flee from predators easily. Despite this, they are still perfectly adapted for defending themselves in what can be a very hostile world. Pufferfish are extremely toxic when eaten, containing enough poison in their organs to kill thirty grown men. Even the slime on their skin has some toxin, making them dangerous to touch. They are capable of inflating themselves with water or air, making them much too large for a predator to swallow. When threatened, they will balloon up to many times their size. When they inflate, sharp spines protrude, causing even more difficulty for any creature trying to eat them. Despite their cherub face and gentle look, they also possess sharp teeth and a powerful bite. If provoked, they are capable of biting off a finger of a human.
This adorable little fellow was swimming around the crevices on a coral head in Belize when he spotted a shiny underwater camera that was held motionless. He decided to approach and gaze right into the camera to see what it was all about. Inquisitive and unconcerned with the diver, he provided quite a show and some very interesting closeup footage.

Gigantic whale shark swims within inches of swimmers in Mexico
Whale sharks are among the most majestic and beautiful creatures on earth. Reaching lengths of up to 18m (55 feet), and weighing upwards of 46,00kg (100,000lbs), they are the largest fish in all the oceans. Only a few whale species are larger. But, despite their enormous size, they are the gentlest of giants. They are incapable of harming a human, even if they wanted to. They have no teeth and they have no aggression towards people.
Whale sharks feed by swimming through the water with their mouth open, filtering plankton, fish eggs, and krill, along with the occasional tiny fish. They have huge combs called baleen that allow them to capture food and expel water through their gills. They are able to outswim humans easily and they can swim away from predators or dive deep to avoid them.
These swimmers in Mexico were part of an ethical tour that allows wildlife photographers and videographers to enter the water cautiously and wait for a whale shark to swim near enough to record them. Strict about the rules and regulations regarding distance from the animals, photographers and guests may only enter the water with a licensed guide and they must avoid causing the sharks any stress.
These photgraphers were thrilled to see a whale shark headed right toward them. With its mouth open, it gave them a close look down its throat as it passed within inches of them. As required, the swimmers remained motionless and waited. The shark was close enough to touch, but there are good reasons why they refrained. As the shark passed by them, they turned and followed. This whale shark casually swam along, unconcerned with their presence.
A close encounter with a creature so magnificent is a once in a lifetime experience.
Anyone considering a tour like this should seek only an ethical operation. Serious Diving in Isla Mujeres not only follows the rules carefully to avoid negative effects on the animals, but they also contribute to development of protection policies and to conservation efforts.

Scuba divers in complete awe over gigantic loggerhead sea turtle
Loggerhead sea turtles are the second largest of the living turtles, capable of growing to almost 2m (6 feet)in length and weighing up to 450kg (1,000lbs). The average size of a fully grown male is approximately 190kg (418lbs). They are enormous and powerful, with a head as big as a Saint Bernard dog. They feed on conch shells and the jaws are strong enough to pulverize the shell of even a large conch. Most scuba divers have heard of these turtles and some have been fortunate enough to see one, but they are a threatened species, with some populations listed as endangered, and sightings are very rare.
These lucky scuba divers were taking in the sights on the reef near San Pedro, Belize when they caught sight of this massive male cruising over the coral, looking for shells. They swam alongside this beautiful turtle for almost fifteen minutes. Strong enough to outswim a diver with just a few flaps of its powerful flippers, it was unconcerned with the humans around it. It continued looking under ledges and along coral fingers for food. It occasionally slowed or stopped and looked directly at the divers as if slightly curious about the clumsy creatures that followed it. The dive master was in complete awe over the size of this beast and he can be seen holding out his hands to emphasize the width of the turtle’s head as it gazed right at him. Despite being a very seasoned diver, he has never been lucky enough to see a loggerhead only a few feet away from him, looking him right in the eye. This male weighed approximately 180kg (400lbs) and has very little to worry about, aside from a large shark. Once mature, they have few predators.
Being able to witness such a magnificent animal in its natural environment is a thrill that these divers will not soon forget.
