Revelation can be challenging to read, but when read from the understanding it is apocalyptic literature, we can see through the symbols to embrace the main message - Jesus wins!

Let's learn from Laodicea that earthly blessings, power, popularity do not necessarily equate to divine blessing. In fact, they have to potential to leave us abundantly oblivious to our spiritual stagnancy. We need to welcome Jesus' abiding presence every day, for in Him we have all we need.

We need not weep or fear because we know the Ultimate Super Hero - Jesus, the overcoming & victorious Lamb of God, has taken away our sins, purchased our salvation, & conquered our enemy

If we want to know how to live in these perilous times, we can follow the wisdom of the world (keep your enemies closer, trust no one, compromise) or we can go to the One Who broke the seals & set this creation on a collision course with God’s redemptive plan.

On this Memorial Day, we can choose to close our eyes to the sacrifices soldiers on the shores of Normandy made to push back evil or we can humbly give thanks that darkness was halted in their day and pray for the courage to oppose it in our day. Similarly, we can also turn our eyes from the cross of Christ & cast them upon every failure of the historical institutional church, upon every social ill that still plagues humanity, upon every pleasure & distraction which lures us away OR we can give thanks for the immeasurable gift Jesus gave us when He laid down His life to save ours, choosing to follow in His sacrificial footsteps & praying for the courage to oppose all forces of evil in our day.

In the midst of a world of increasing chaos & lawlessness, we have the potential to be overwhelmed by it all. If we prepare for battle and have our spiritual eyes engaged, we can instead be overwhelmed by the goodness and grace of God, knowing one Jesus is our victorious King.

The resurrection power of God dwells in us through the Spirit of God in us. So, why do we fail to walk in victory? We have the wrong soundtracks playing in our heads & hearts. We need to fix our eyes on things above. Instead of letting the world's messaging direct your day, start your day with praise and see what God will do giving life NOW to your mortal bodies!

We ask one more question in this series as we shift our focus from Jesus' cross to His defeat of death. If we apply the same standards of current eyewitness testimony to the resurrection accounts, we will observe the life, death, & resurrection of Messiah is verifiable historically based on evidence & eyewitness testimony.

Jesus clearly indicated by word and action Who He is - the Son of God, God in the flesh, the Messiah Who fulfills the Law & the Prophets. We can choose to call Him crazy or demonic, but the things He did & how He delivered people from the enemy would indicate those as inaccurate. But there is no middle ground here, no deconstructing to fit Him into our personal preferences. Either He was a liar, a lunatic, or He truly is Lord. Who do you say Jesus is?
