The planet earth rotates under a satellite in space (loop)

Asteroid 2004 BL86 passed Earth on Jan. 26, 2015 at 16:19 UTC (11:19am EST). This "movie" of the asteroid was generated from radar data collected on that date by NASA's Deep Space Network antenna at Goldstone, California. Twenty individual images were used. Radar observations allow scientists to better measure an asteroid's size, rotation and location. As a bonus, radar observations of 2004 BL86 detected a tiny moon orbiting the asteroid.

National Weather Service forecasters have been tracking a low pressure area that moved from the Midwest into the Atlantic Ocean Jan. 26, 2015, and is expected to become a strong nor'easter that will bring blizzard conditions to the northeastern U.S. The path of the system was captured in a NASA movie of NOAA's GOES-East satellite imagery. This GOES-East animation shows a cold front push off the U.S. East coast followed by a low pressure area from the Midwest moved southeast and exited the Carolinas into the Atlantic Ocean. The Mars Opportunity rover has driven 25.9 miles (41.7 kilometers) since it landed in the Meridiani Planum region of Mars on Jan. 25, 2004 (Universal Time, which was Jan. 24, PST). That is farther than any other off-Earth surface vehicle has driven. The rover's work on Mars was initially planned for three months. During that prime mission and for more than a decade of bonus performance in extended missions, Opportunity has returned compelling evidence about wet environments on ancient Mars.

NASA Astronaut Terry Virts, aboard the International Space Station, took photos of the 2015 blizzard in the northeast United States during a night pass Wednesday, Jan. 28, as he orbited 260 miles overhead. This time-lapse video shows his track from Washington, D.C., over Baltimore to New York City and Boston. The sequence also shows lightning and a bit of aurora. A Feb. 18 briefing at Johnson Space Center previewed a series of U.S. spacewalks to prepare the International Space Station for new docking ports that will allow future crews launched from Florida, on U.S. commercial spacecraft to dock to the station. On the first EVA, scheduled for no earlier than Feb. 21, NASA astronauts Barry Wilmore and Terry Virts will prepare cables and communications gear for the two new International Docking Adapters, built by Boeing and scheduled for delivery on a pair of SpaceX flights this year. The other spacewalks are slated for Feb. 25th, and March 1. Also, Final Automated Transfer Vehicle, Progress supply ship to ISS, Magnetospheric Multiscale mission, Orion chutes in the wind, Pegasus modifications and more!
