In or around 480 A.D., Anicius Manlius Severinus Boethius was born in Rome. He lost his parents when he was young, and Symmachus, one of the wealthiest and most respected noblemen of the time, took him in and raised him.
He was by far the most educated Roman of his time. The depth of his Greek language skills allowed him to become an adept student, translator, and commentator on the Platonic philosophies at the time.
He took on the ambitious task of translating and interpreting all of Plato's and Aristotle's works. Then, in his opinion, he showed how the two were the same. Before his untimely death, Boethius had only completed a small portion of this massive task.
Boethius wrote several books for scholars. Aristotle, in particular, significantly influenced his extensive body of work. His writings covered many different topics, such as math, geometry, logic, philosophy, music, astronomy, and theology.
The best-known of his philosophical works is De Consolatione Philosophiae (Consolation of Philosophy), which he wrote in prison while waiting to be executed. Part of the book is structured as a conversation between two fictional characters, Philosophy and Boethius. In the book, Boethius argues that significance in the world is temporary and that conceptual representations of things surpass their physical forms.
Before the 12th century, his works and those he translated were Europe's primary sources of logic, and this body of work was referred to as the Logica vetus (meaning the old logic).
In today's video, we'll look at 4 of the best Boethius quotes to learn more about this great Roman senator, consul, magister officiorum, historian, and philosopher ideas and thoughts.
▶️Here are 4 of Boethius quotes:
1. The good are always strong, the bad always weak and impotent.
2. Who would give a law to lovers? Love is unto itself a higher law.
3. Nothing is miserable unless you think it is so.
4. In every kind of adversity, the bitterest part of a man’s affliction is to remember that he once was happy.

Greek Philosopher Democritus Famous Quotes✨

Democritus was an ancient Greek natural philosopher. He was one of the most influential people in the history of atomism in philosophy. Many also think of him as the "father of modern science" because of how accurate his philosophical ideas are.
Democritus was born in Abdera, Thrace, and, according to Aristotle, is best known for spreading the atomic theory of the universe, which was started by his teacher Leucippus. This theory explains how natural things work by saying that they are caused by the arrangement and rearrangement of atoms that exist and move in a void.
Democritus's ideas were different from those of philosophers like Aristotle and Plato. It is also said that Plato hated Democritus so much that he wanted his books to be burned. Democritus has traveled extensively and shared his views, perspectives, and ideas with scholars worldwide.
Democritus also wrote a lot about astronomy and other natural sciences, mathematics, literature, the philosophy of knowledge, and ethics, among other things. Only a few hundred pieces of his work have been found, most of which are from his ethics writings.
Little Cosmology, which he wrote, was like an encyclopedia, but it was lost because its content annoyed people who decided which of his works should not be kept.
In later times, Democritus became known as "the laughing philosopher," perhaps because he believed pursuing happiness was worthwhile.
Most of his writings have been lost; only bits and pieces of his substantial work and ideas remain.
In this video, we'll discuss some of quotes and sayings by Democritus which have been excerpted from those fragments, available writings, recommendations and work.
▶️Here are some of Democritus Quotes:
• The man enslaved to wealth can never be honest.
• By desiring little, a poor man makes himself rich.
• Sexual intercourse is a slight attack of apoplexy.
• Our sins are more easily remembered than our good deeds.
• Everything existing in the universe is the fruit of chance and necessity.
• If your desires are not great, a little will seem much to you; for small appetite makes poverty equivalent to wealth.
• The wise man belongs to all countries, for the home of a great soul is the whole world.
• Everywhere man blames nature and fate, yet his fate is mostly but the echo of his character and passion, his mistakes and his weaknesses.
• Happiness resides not in possessions, and not in gold, happiness dwells in the soul.
• People sometimes rationalize their greed by saying that it is all for the good of their children, but this is nothing but an excuse they use to make their despicable actions appear respectable and praiseworthy.
• Some men are masters of cities, but are enslaved to women.
• Nothing exists except atoms and empty space; everything else is opinion.
• Life unexamined, is not worth living.
• The pride of youth is in strength and beauty, the pride of old age is in discretion.
• Good means not [merely] not to do wrong, but rather not to desire to do wrong.

Democritus was an ancient Greek philosopher seen by many as the father of modern science because of his hypothesis that the universe is made up of tiny "atoms," which resembles modern atomic theory.
Even though he is usually seen as one of Greece's many pre-Socratic natural philosophers, many historians have argued that he is more accurately seen as a scientist, at least when compared to his predecessors.
Democritus traveled a lot to satisfy his thirst for knowledge. He went to Asia, Egypt, and (according to some sources) even India and Ethiopia.
He started studying natural philosophy when he returned to his home country. He also traveled all over Greece to learn more about its culture and learned from many of the country's famous philosophers. He became one of the most famous philosophers before Socrates.
His biggest influence came from Leucippus of Miletus, who became his mentor and taught him about atomism. In the tradition of the atomists, Democritus was a strict materialist who saw the world in terms of natural laws and causes. This made him different from other Greek philosophers like Plato and Aristotle, whose ideas were more teleological.
Democritus was known for his modesty, simplicity, and dedication to his studies, according to his many stories and descriptions.
He was also known for his sense of humor; people called him the "Laughing Philosopher."
In today's video, we'll look at 4 of the best Democritus quotes to learn more about this great Greek philosopher's ideas and thoughts.

Chinese Philosopher Mo Tzu's Universal Love Quotes
Hey Guys! Welcome! In today’s video, I’ll share some of chinese philosopher Mo Tzu's universal love quotes.
▶️Subscribe to YouTube 👉 https://www.youtube.com/@MQ22_official
▶️Subscribe to Rumble 👉 https://rumble.com/c/c-2135790
The ancient Chinese philosopher Mo Tzu, also called Mozi, Mozu (Pinyin), Motze, Motse, Master Mo, and other names, taught that people should care about each other and love everyone. His ideas, which were called "Mohism," were a challenge to Confucianism for a long time. Mo Tzu was attracted to regular people and liked it when people were straightforward.
Mo wrote the Mo-tzu, a record of what he did and what he said. After Mo-tzu died, Mohism split into three different schools. A temple soon implemented his message of love for everyone and living a simple life with a series of Elder Masters.
He taught that worthy people should be found and put into high positions. But lower men tend to see "worthy men" as members of "our party" or "one of us" very quickly.
Mozi, like Da Vinci, was versatile. He did a lot of important work in philosophy and was also a great scientist. People said he made a lot of weapons and machines, like a flying bird made of wood.
In this video, we'll discuss some of Mozi's quotes that will give a fresh perspective and help you get to know his views on universal love and compassion.
▶️Here are some of Mozi’s Quotes:
• To accomplish anything whatsoever, one must have standards. None have yet accomplished anything without them.
• Suppose we try to locate the cause of disorder, we shall find it lies in the want of mutual love.
• When there is universal love in the world it will be orderly, and when there is mutual hate in the world it will be disorderly.
• Universal love is really the way of the sage-kings. It is what gives peace to the rulers and sustenance to the people.
• A three-pronged test for any belief: can it be verified by the sights and senses of common people? How is it to be applied? Will it benefit the greatest number?
• Whoever criticizes others must have something to replace them. Criticism without suggestion is like trying to stop flood with flood and put out fire with fire. It will surely be without worth.
• Enthusiasm is to be shown only to the virtuous, and plans for the country are only to be shared with the learned.
• If one does not preserve the learned in a state, he will be injuring the state; if one is not zealous to recommend the virtuous upon seeing one, he will be neglecting the ruler.
• The virtuous who are prosperous must be exalted, and the virtuous who are not prosperous must be exalted too.
• The wise man who has charge of governing the empire should know the cause of disorder before he can put it in order. Unless he knows it’s cause, he can not regulate it.
• When universal love is adopted as the standard, then such are the consequent benefits. It is incomprehensible, then, why people should object to universal love when they hear it.
• All states in the world, large or small, are cities of Heaven, and all people, young or old, honorable or humble, are its subjects.
• If the gentleman desires to be a gracious ruler, a loyal minister, an affectionate father, a filial son, a courteous elder brother, and a respectful younger brother, universal love must be practiced. It is the way of the sage-kings and the great blessing of the people.
• Few are those, who, neglecting the virtuous and slighting the learned, could still maintain the existence of their countries.

During "The Hundred Schools of Thought," Mozi started a way of thinking called "Mohism." This is from the early years of China's Warring States era. We can only imagine the intense political and philosophical situations during this time.
Mohism is a way of life and a set of beliefs different from Daoism and Confucianism. Mozi believed that everyone was equal in Heaven's eyes.
One of his most radical ideas might have been that leadership should be based on merits instead of just birthright.
According to him, Heaven commands that leaders do well and benefit their people. Mohism may not have had as much impact as other schools of thought, but it is as profound and inspiring as any of them.
These 4 Mozi quotes will challenge your beliefs and help shape you into a more compassionate person.
▶️Here are 4 of Mozi quotes:
• To accomplish anything whatsoever, one must have standards. None have yet accomplished anything without them.
• Suppose we try to locate the cause of disorder, we shall find it lies in the want of mutual love.

Pliny the Elder, also known as Gaius Plinius Secundus, was a Roman philosopher and the writer of the famous Natural History, an encyclopedia with varying levels of accuracy that was considered an authority on scientific matters until the Middle Ages.
Pliny came from a wealthy family, which allowed him to finish his education in Rome. He was also in charge of the Roman army and the navy. He is said to have written seven books, but only Natural History has survived.
Pliny the Elder wrote The Natural History, which comprises 37 books and is a comprehensive scientific work. It was finished in 77 CE. Even though Pliny didn't distinguish between fact, opinion, and speculation in his 37-volume book, he is still credited with making the first scientific encyclopedia.

The ancient Roman philosopher, author, and naturalist Pliny the Elder studied and wrote extensively about the natural world. He was also a military and naval leader in the Roman empire. He is the first person ever to write an encyclopedia, which is a remarkable achievement in and of itself.
He is known as a "Naturalis Historia Author" in Latin because of his famous book Natural History. The 37 volumes in this book contain more than a million words. This is widely regarded as one of his most significant and impactful books. Pliny the Elder became well-known in the military due to his many quotes on the legions and the city of Pompeii.
While Pliny the Elder is famous for his Latin quotations, this video focuses on his best English sayings that have influenced and advanced several fields of study.

• Home is where the heart is.
• No mortal man, moreover, is wise at all moments.
• The lust of avarice as so totally seized upon mankind that their wealth seems rather to possess them than they possess their wealth.
• Truth comes out in wine.
• Such is the audacity of man, that he hath learned to counterfeit Nature, and is so bold as to challenge her in her work.
• The depth of darkness to which you can descend and still live is an exact measure of the height to which you can aspire to reach.
• It is generally more shameful to lose a good reputation than never to have acquired it.
• How innocent, how happy, how truly delightful, even, would life be if we were to desire nothing but what is to be found upon the face of the earth: in a word, nothing but what is provided ready to our hands.
• Hope is the pillar that holds up the world. Hope is the dream of a waking man.
• Grief has limits, whereas apprehension has none. For we grieve only for what we know has happened, but we fear all that possibly may happen.
• An object in possession seldom retains the same charm that it had in pursuit.

Powerful Philosophy Quotes of Thales of Miletus

Two and a half thousand years ago, a famous man was known as the first of the seven sages of ancient Greece. His name was Thales of Miletus, and he was frequently referred to as The Father of Science.
During the time of Thales, science awoke from a long slumber of supernatural explanations and mystical beliefs. Thales looked at every part of life through a critical lens of questioning. He brought scientific thinking to many fields, including the natural world, math, astrology, and philosophy.
Thales explored the fundamentals of the origin of matter. He brought geometry to Greece and showed how to figure out the height of a building by measuring the length of its shadow.
He was the first philosopher in the west. Thales inspired the establishment of the Milesian school in the Ionian city of Miletus. His thought inspired Anaximander, Anaximenes, Pythagoras, Solon, and Xenophanes. He was the first person to use reason and evidence from the real world.
In this video, we'll discuss some of Thales of Miletus' most well-known quotes and explore how his philosophies can lead to a more fulfilling life.
▶️ Here are some Thales of Miletus quotes:
• Nothing is blameless, but all things have faults and Imperfections.
• Avoid doing what you would blame others for doing.
• It is difficult to know yourself; it is easy to give advice to others.
• Strongest is necessity because it governs all things.
• What is the most pleasant thing? To succeed.
• How might one bear misfortune? To see your enemy doing even worse.
• Conceal thy domestic ills.
• What is common to all men? Hope. Because those who have nothing else possess hope still.
• All Things Are full of Gods.
• A multitude of words is no proof of a prudent mind.
• Who is happy? This is a person, who has a healthy body, is dowered with peace of mind and cultivates his talents.
• Death is no different at all from life.

Thales of Miletus was a Greek natural philosopher who started the Ionian school of ancient Greek thinkers. Aristotle regarded Thales as the inventor of physical science; he was the first Greek to search for the ultimate substance of things, which he identified as water. Thales is one of the Seven Sages of ancient Greece.
Even though historians say Thales moved Western thought from the realm of myth to the discipline of empiricism, they have no direct evidence that he existed. Thales was believed to be taught by an Egyptian priest and lived in Athens.
Thales, a polymath, achieved fame as an engineer, geometer, and astronomer. He was the first person in Greece to study geometry. Thales is also known for his geometry and measurement work, studying solstices and astronomical seasons and coming up with many theories about the physical world.
In this video, we'll look at 4 Thales of Miletus inspirational quotes and discuss how they can be used in the modern world.

Lao Tzu was a famous ancient Chinese writer and philosopher. He was the founder of philosophical Taoism and is thought to be the author of the Tao Te Ching, a collection of texts illustrating the fundamental Taoist teachings.

Lao Tzu was a famous ancient Chinese philosopher who wrote the Tao Te Ching, one of the most important texts in Taoist philosophy.
Some believe he may have been a legendary figure rather than a historical person, as nothing is known about his life. Still, the Tao Te Ching, which is credited to Lao Tzu, is one of the most important works of Chinese philosophy and has been read and studied by many people for over 2,000 years.
The text gives a view of life that emphasizes simplicity, naturalness, and the idea that the ultimate reality, the Tao, is too hard for humans to understand. Lao Tzu's ideas have had an impact not only on Taoism but also on Chinese culture and thought in general, and they are still studied and talked about.

Zeno of Citium was a Greek philosopher who lived at the end of the third century BCE and the beginning of the second century BCE. He was the first person to write about Stoicism. He was the one who started the Stoic school of thought in Athens.
Diogenes Laertius, a biographer of ancient philosophers, wrote most of what we know about Zeno of Citium.
Zeno's philosophy focused on the development of inner character and personal ethics. He taught that the way to happiness is to accept the present moment and develop a rational, detached view of life's events.
Zeno's ideas were very popular while he was still alive, and Stoicism remained one of the most important schools of thought up to the Roman era. These ideas came back into style during the Renaissance, and people still like them today.
In this video, we'll look closely at some of his most famous quotes and learn how his philosophy can help us live a happier, more meaningful life. Join us as we learn about the ancient Greek philosopher's ideas, from how to deal with bad feelings to how to live a good life.
▶️Here are some of Zeno's quotes:
• By silence, I hear other men's imperfections and conceal my own.
• Man seems to be deficient in nothing so much as he is in time.
• Man conquers the world by conquering himself.
• Better to trip with the feet than with the tongue.
• Fate is the endless chain of causation, whereby things are; the reason or formula by which the world goes on.
• Well-being is attained little by little, and nevertheless is no little thing itself.
• We have two ears and one mouth, so we should listen more than we say.
• No evil is honorable: but death is honorable; therefore, death is not evil.
• All things are parts of one single system called Nature; the individual life is good when it is in harmony with nature.
• Steel your sensibilities, so that life shall hurt you as little as possible.
• No matter whether you claim a slave by purchase or capture, the title is bad. They who claim to own their fellow-men, look down into the pit and forget the justice that should rule the world.
• Happiness is a good flow of life.
• A bad feeling is a commotion of the mind repugnant to reason, and against nature.
• The end may be defined as life in accordance with nature or, in other words, in accordance with our own human nature as well as that of the universe.
• All the good are friends of one another.
• Love is a god, who cooperates in securing the safety of the city.
• A friend is our alter ego.
• Nothing is more hostile to a firm grasp on awareness than self-deception.

Zeno of Citium, a Greek philosopher who started the Stoicism school of thought. Born in 334 BCE in Citium, Cyprus, he taught in Athens, Greece, where his lectures attracted a large following.
Zeno's ideas were very popular while he was still alive, and Stoicism remained one of the most important schools of thought up to the Roman era. These ideas were also popular again during the Renaissance and are still popular today.
Zeno of Citium was a rich merchant but lived a simple, ascetic life. Zeno, like the Stoic philosophers who came after him, wanted to achieve eudaimonia (good spirit or happiness) by living in harmony with nature.
Zeno's original writings have been lost, except for a few incomplete pieces saved by writers who came after him. It is terrible that we cannot delve into Zeno's writings, but the best quotes from the Stoic philosopher can help us comprehend the origins of Stoicism and how its concepts may be relevant to modern life.
In today's video, we'll look at 4 of the best Zeno of Citium Quotes to learn more about this great Greek philosopher's ideas and thoughts.

Best Philosophy Quotes of Anaximander of Miletus
Hey Guys and Welcome! Today I’ll share some of the best philosophy quotes of Anaximander of Miletus that Could Change Your Life.

Anaximander was a pre-Socratic Greek philosopher who lived in the city of Miletus in the region of Ionia (in modern-day Turkey). He was part of the Milesian school, and Thales was his teacher. He took over for Thales and became the second master of that school, where Anaximenes and, possibly, Pythagoras were among his students.
There needs to be more information about his life and work. He is the first philosopher known to have written down his studies, although only a small piece of his work still exists.
Anaximander was one of the first people to believe in science. He tried to observe and explain different parts of the universe, especially its origins. He said that nature is ruled by laws, just like human societies, and that anything that upsets the balance of nature only lasts for a while.
Like many other thinkers, Anaximander's philosophy contributed to many fields. In astronomy, he tried to explain how the planets and stars move in relation to Earth. In physics, his hypothesis that the indefinite (or apeiron) was the source of all things introduced a new level of conceptual abstraction in Greek philosophy.
With his mastery of geometry, he introduced the gnomon to Greece. He made a map of the world that made a big difference in the field of geography. He was also involved in the politics of Miletus, and he was sent as a leader to one of its colonies.
In today's video, we'll look at some of the best Anaximander quotes to learn more about this great philosopher's ideas and thoughts.
▶️Here are best philosophy quotes of Anaximander:
• The indefinite is divine, for it is immortal and imperishable.
• Immortal and indestructible, surrounds everything and destroys everything.
• There are many worlds and many systems of Universes that exist all at the same time, all of them perishable.
• Water is the principle of the universe.
• The indefinite is unborn and Incorruptible, for that which begins necessarily has an end; and all corruption has a term.
• Nature is eternal and does not age.
• The original principle of things is apeiron. That is where they arise, that is where they later perish by reason of necessity.
• Unlimited has no principle, for in such a case it would be limited.
• All beings are derived from other, older beings by successive transformations.
• The principle and element of things is the indefinite.
• There cannot be a single, simple body which is infinite, either, as some hold, one distinct from the elements, which they then derive from it, nor without this qualification.
• Things are full of Gods.
• The source from which existing things derive their existence is also that to which they return at their destruction.
• The age of humans is not explained without their predecessors.
• All things must in equity again decline into that whence they have their origin, for they must give satisfaction and atonement for injustice, each in the order of time.
• Things originate from the separation of opposites.
• The earth is cylindrical, three times as wide as its depth and only the upper part is inhabited. But this earth is isolated in space and the sky is a complete sphere in the center of which, without support, our cylinder, the earth, is located at the same distance from all points of the sky.

Anaximander of Miletus was a very important pre-Socratic philosopher and geographer from 610 BC to 545 BC.
Anaximander was born in Miletus, like his teacher Tales, and he shared his teachings and reflections with Anaximenes, his student. Anaximander's most important idea is "arché," which means "the beginning of all things."
He only went beyond one of his works, the interesting one called "About Nature." This book was lost, but its teachings were rediscovered through the doxographic comments of later scholars. His work in astronomy and geography was important because he was the first to measure the solstices and equinoxes. He was also the first to say that the Earth is round, although he was wrong when he said that he was in the center of the universe.
In today's video, we'll look at 4 of the best Anaximander quotes to learn more about this great Greek philosopher's ideas and thoughts.
