Highlights of the 2023 East Coast Indoor Dirt Nationals In Trenton, NJ
2023 East Coast Indoor Dirt Nationals at the Cure Insurance Arena in Trenton, NJ: We went to our first indoor auto race on Saturday February 25, 2023. Our good friend Al from Custom Built Products was sponsoring the race and invited us to come along. So, we decided to go and bring a few cameras. We didn’t know exactly what to expect from indoor car racing but this event surpassed any expectations we might have had. The cars were 600cc Micro Sprint cars and the track was clay. It was big fun, well run and safe for all the drivers and the fans alike. And enthralled with a new subject matter to shoot, we ended up capturing A LOT of footage. We’ve spent the last 2 weeks combing over it and now we proudly present the edited highlight of our night at the East Coast Indoor Dirt Nationals at Cure Insurance Stadium in Trenton, NJ.
We had a great time and are already looking forward to go to our next indoor auto race. Thanks again Al!!!
Congratulations to the winner of the A-Main event, Tim Buckwalter. Here are the official results of the East Coast Indoor Dirt Nationals A-Main Event (50 Laps): 1. Tim Buckwalter, 2. As Read By Me Episode 301: the Big Game
We're kicking off season 3 with an episode entitled The Big Game. Sure, there’s a big football game coming up in February, but life is an even bigger game. In this episode, we’ll explore both, starting with everybody’s favorite bedtime storyteller, Rich Hosek. Rich is here to read a chapter from his newest book After Life. It was released earlier this month and although I haven’t read it yet, the reviews on Amazon so far are excellent. Next, Barb Stakes takes us on a poetic journey through the seasons of life, in her poem Turn. And last, but never least, Peter Waitze brings us his take on modern Roman numeral usage at the Super Bowl, and other assorted musings, in his story entitled Football.
Authors:
Rich Hosek: Rich is a television writer and novelist. His latest book After Life is book 2 in the award winning Raney/Daye Investigation Paranormal Mystery series. It was cowritten with Rich's long time television writing partner, Arnold Rudnick, and world-renowned parapsychologist, Loyd Auerbach and features Detective Nate Raney—an ex-cop and confirmed skeptic—and his partner, Dr. Jennifer Daye—anthropology professor and parapsychologist. Together, they investigate cases that brush up against the world of ghosts and psychics in a way that will make you believe in life after death. Please visit https://raneyanddaye.com for more information and claim your free bookmark when you sign up for the mailing list.
Barbara Stakes: Barbara spent a 30-plus year career in the offices of area Research and Development companies in Langhorne, PA and Princeton, NJ. In her retirement, she enjoys yoga, meditation, reading, walks in the parks and working to get down on paper stories about people, places and experiences remembered over the years with a hope that others might enjoy them.
Peter Waitze: Peter has been recounting his short, tall tales in monthly letters for over 40 years, and more recently in the form of a monthly email story. You can sign up for his monthly email letter by sending an email to Peter@AsReadByMe.com. Peter is also a founder and producer of the As Read By Me Podcast.

The Kaufman Institute for Coincidence
Are you or a loved one suffering from a medical coincidence? You want proper medical care, but you don’t want people sniffing around asking a whole bunch of questions about what might be causing your problem. At the Kaufman Institute for Coincidence we won’t look into the cause of your heart or other problem, we’ll just fix it. That’s right, we promise to only look at your symptoms. We won’t get all curious looking for causes, because that could get your employer, or your doctor, into some legal hot water. And nobody wants that! At Kaufman, we understand that coincidence is now the leading cause of death. And if we want to operate at the speed of science, there’s no time for looking for causes. That’s right, no pesky questions about drugs or vaccines you might have been given. At Kaufman, we specialize in the effects and leave the causes to the conspiracy theorists. And let’s be honest, we know the cause anyway. It was a coincidence, right? For each new patient, Kaufman’s talented team of doctors strap on their blinders and look directly at the problem area, usually the heart, just like the CDC recommends. Our main campus now treats the following coincidences:
-myocarditis
-blood clots
-heart arrhythmia
-stroke
-heart attack
-magnetic skin
-difficulty breathing
-full body blisters and burning
-convulsions
-kidney failure
-memory loss
-cancer
-sudden death
-and much much more
Give your coincidence the attention it deserves, but not the wrong kind of attention, at Kaufman. Schedule your appointment today at KaufmanCoincidence.com and receive a doctor’s note with real sciency sounding explanation to provide to your anti-vax friends, proving to them it was definitely not the vaccine that caused your coincidence. Kaufman: Because coincidences happen… pretty much all the time.

Frozen Brake Caliper Tips
Some quick tips on diagnosing a frozen brake rotor and some important observations and advice about checking surrounding parts for heat damage after you discover a frozen brake rotor. The intense heat can do major collateral damage to neighboring parts, especially in the front suspension as evidenced in this video with a melted ball joint. Whenever a part of a car overheats, it’s a great idea to look around in the neighborhood for other parts that might have been affected by the heat. The safety of yourself or your customer depends on this kind of thoroughness. First comment gets a free Mechanic Secrets t-shirt. Just tell me your preferred shirt size in the comment, Anthony. As Read By Me Episode 205
Episode 205: Just like the month of March, this week’s episode comes in like a lion and out like a lamb. Well, more like in like a snow beast and out like a tulip. But that’ll make more sense later. It all begins with Rich Hosek’s snow-packed tale of terror entitled White. Then, Don Tollefson inspires us to make an impact on the lives of others in his essay Finding Our Heroes. And finally, Paul Camarata says a final goodbye to winter, with his poem entitled Leaps and Grounds. Better bundle up for this one, winter is not quite finished with us yet...

As Read By Me Episode 203
As Read By Me Episode 203:
Greetings and welcome back to your favorite writer’s podcast! For most Philadelphian’s, the name Frank Rizzo probably rings a bell. The City of brotherly love had a love/hate relationship with its infamous Mayor and Police Chief for many, many years. And lucky for us, our own Frank Goldstein was shooting news in Philadelphia during that time and now 50 years later, he brings us a revealing story about Rizzo entitled The Man, The Myth, The Legend. Next, Melinda Gordon reads a poem inspired by her experience attending the very first Earth Day in A Day To Remember. And finally, Rich Hosek shares a story about decisions and consequences, in his story Resolved. Enjoy!!!
Writers:
Frank Goldstein: Frank is a retired broadcast photojournalist, the author of the upcoming book "Shoot It Anyway" and a producer of the As Read By Me podcast.
Melinda Gordan: Melinda is a retired middle school Art Teacher with a love for everything fun and creative. When she's not writing or telling stories, Melinda enjoys working in her studio, listening to music and hanging out with friends, family and her Cocker Spaniel, Zoey Beth.

The Easy Way To Break Any Lug Nut Loose [Remove Frozen Lug Nuts With No Special Tools]
The Easy Way To Break Any Lug Nut Loose [Remove Frozen Lug Nuts With No Special Tools]: Using the force of inertia from a spinning wheel, you can loosen lug nuts faster and with less effort than you may have realized. Not only is this easier than most lug nut loosening methods, but you can also remove even the most stubborn frozen lug nut with this method. And the best part is, there are no special tools required. All you need is a 1/2" drive breaker bar (mine is a 24” Matco) and an impact socket, properly sized for your lug nuts. I can’t stress enough to use a BREAKER BAR and not a ratchet and to use an IMPACT SOCKET and not a chrome socket. Although this method looks virtually effortless, there are incredible forces at work which will shatter a chrome socket and/or break a ratchet if you attempt this method with the wrong tools.
This is by far the easiest method to loosen a stuck lug nut. And, it's also the kindest method on your back. Once you master this technique, I promise you'll never bend over to loosen lug nuts again. What's not to like? It's easier on the body, faster and more effective than power tools, long pipes, etc.
This is a cool trick I learned from my first boss when I was 13 years old and have been using ever since. In my opinion, this trick should be taught to and practiced by all drivers before they need to change a tire. You can break free even the most stubborn lug nuts with the lug wrench and jack that come with your vehicle, if you know how to use them. But, how many of us have been stuck on the side of the road and unable to loosen an over-tightened lug nut? Who knew the solution was right there in our hands all along? Please share this video far and wide for the benefit of every driver.

Impossible Bolt Through Frame Install Trick - Ford F250 Snow Plow Bracket
Impossible Bolt Through Frame Install Trick - Great For Snow Plow, Trailer Hitch or Running Boards!
This is a handy trick to know if you ever have to add or replace a bolt through a vehicle’s frame in a spot that seems impossible to get the bolt to without removing parts. In this example scenario on a 2002 Ford F250 4x4, the snow plow bracket was missing a bolt. Normally, you’d have to remove the bumper to install this bolt but as demonstrated in this video, there is a tricky way to feed the bolt through the frame with wire that helps you avoid taking the bumper off. All it takes is a little bit of wire and the right technique, as you’ll see in the video. This trick can have a multitude of uses throughout a mechanic’s career for all sorts of installs. This trick can save you lots of time when installing snow plows, running boards, trailer hitches, etc.

Making A Mechanics Seat
Making A Mechanics Seat: I looked at mechanics seats/mechanics stools from all the major manufacturers; Snap-On, Kobalt, Torin, Omega, Craftsman, Harbor Freight, etc. and didn't find one that met my standards, so I decided to make my own. This is the story of how I built my mechanics seat and why and how I use it. Lots of fun cutting, welding and head scratching in this one. We hope you enjoy this video and will consider subscribing to help us continue bringing you more. And we'd love to hear your thoughts on mechanics stools, seats and creepers in the comments.
If you would like detailed plans for making your own mechanics seat just like this one, send us an email at info@mechanicsecrets.com and we will send you a pdf.

How To Launch A Cup with an Oxy-Acetylene Explosion
How To Launch A Cup with an Oxy-Acetylene Explosion: Well, we're closing out another year at the shop with a bang! This is a fun trick you can do with your oxy-acetylene torch and a paper cup. It’s one of those things you just assume everybody knows about but actually they don’t. So, for those that have never seen it, allow me to demonstrate how to launch a paper cup using an oxy-acetylene explosion from my torch gases. Definitely do not try this yourself and certainly do not use anything but a paper cup. An exploding cup made of material other than paper could be extremely hazardous.
Does anybody else have any fun oxy-acetylene torch suggestions/tricks? If so, leave them in the comments. We'd love to hear anything unusual you do with your torches.

If You Believe It - Dave Stiles
I wrote this song on 12/19/21 to submit to SongFight.org. And believe it or not, the lyrics actually started off as very dystopian with a "we're all fools" kind of theme. And for some reason, it quickly pivoted to become this amazingly happy, nostalgic and optimistic toe tapper. This was one of those situations where I felt like more of a conduit than an artist. It just flowed through me. I will admit that musically, I did intentionally try to recreate the catchiness of all the popular upbeat Christmas songs I've ever loved. And somehow, I think I got pretty close.
Original music and lyrics by Dave Stiles - ©2021 Dave Stiles - ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
"If you believe it" Lyrics:
Now, the kids went to bed
and and said their prayers
So what’s that noise
I hear upstairs?
I went up to check
And what did I see?
Two little eyes,
staring back at me
I said it’s Christmas Eve
and you should be sleepin’
Not sneaking around
spyin’ and peeping’
So close you eyes
and make a wish
And soon you’ll be waking up
to all your gifts.
You can’t rush the magic
It’ll come in time
If you believe it
You’ll have a magical Christmas time
Years ago
When I was a boy
The wish book would come
And I’d pick out a toy
I’d wait and wait
and anticipate
For the advent calendar
To hit that date
It was always exciting
On Christmas Eve
Santa’d come and visit
My sister and me
He looked in our eyes
And said these words
The sweetest sound we ever heard
(Chorus)
Do you feel the magic?
Do you feel the magic?
Do you feel the magic?
Do you feel the magic?
For the rest of my life
I’ll never forget
Those Christmas times
Were the best it gets
Matchbox racetracks
and H.O. trains
A brand new bike
And some video games
It wasn’t all about the presents
There was lots of love
For mom and dad
And the lord above
And when I think about it
I get tears in my eyes
Wait, what’s that?
Streaking ‘cross the sky
(Chorus X2)

Ulanzi WL-1 Wide Macro Lens Install on Sony ZV-1 (And bonus Lensmate removal)
Ulanzi WL-1 Wide Macro Lens Install on Sony ZV-1: Complete installation of the Ulanzi WL-1 lens kit onto a Sony ZV-1 camera. But first, we had to remove the Lensmate filter adapter that we installed in this previous episode: https://youtu.be/Bs9ap-ilTrs
After the Lensmate adapter is removed with the included handy removal tool, we install the mounting ring that comes with the Ulanzi wide angle lens and demonstrate the functionality of the various wide and macro lens configurations. The immediate impression is that the aluminum adapter ring provided by Ulanzi will hold a 52mm filter, or the wide angle lens, onto the ZV-1 much more securely that the Lensmate adapter kit.
In conclusion, our recommendation, if you want to add a filter to the lens of your Sony ZV-1, the 52MM adapter ring that comes with the Ulanzi WL-1 wide angle is far superior to the Lensmate filter adapter. The included Ulanzi adapter ring holds 52 mm filters, as well as, the wide angle lens much more securely than the Lensmate adapter would have. While we do think the Lensmate would do a fine job of simply holding filters on, if that's all you want to do, we didn’t feel the plastic Lensmate adapter was going to be strong enough to dependably hold on our wide-angle lens. So, since we plan on switching from 52mm filters to the wide angle lens and back and forth occasionally, we didn’t need the Lensmate at all because the Ulanzi kit comes with everything you need to add a removable 52mm filter or the wide-angle lens, depending on your shooting needs.
