ONCE A LADY - A Song About Our Nation
This is a song of addiction. Of betrayal. And perhaps... redemption? It is a song about problems, but it has something more. It points to a solution. The only solution. The only thing that can help this lady we all know.

ONCE A LADY - lyrics
VERSE 1
Saw you on the street today
Took my breath. Had to turn away
You’ve changed
Your beauty’s faded and your grace is gone
What’s this poison that you are on?
Ohhh, it’s strong
You gotta lose this man you’re seeing
Karl with a “K” – a sick human being
He’s not what he seems
CHORUS
I see you now; I look away
Can’t you hear my heart break?
You were grace and beauty shining
Look in the mirror now, baby you’re dying!
And it’s killing me
You were my baby
Once a lady
But you’ve changed
VERSE 2
His venom nurtured your hate and suspicion
You sowed that hate and reaped the division
Your web is spun
You can’t see, you’re wearing Karl’s blinders
You won’t see, you hate all reminders
Of who you were
I said I loved you; I said you had a choice
But I was speaking through a strangled voice – oh nooo
Your hands around my throat!
CHORUS
I see you now; I look away
Can’t you hear my heart break?
You were grace and beauty shining
Look in the mirror now, baby you’re dying!
And it’s killing me
You were my baby
Once a lady
But you’ve changed
SOLO
BRIDGE
I would take back the real you
Take off that harlot’s dress, put on your red, white, and blue!
CHORUS 2
‘Cause I can’t sing the song you’re singing
Where it’s only you’re voice ringing
You say you’re awake, but your eyes are closed
You’re throwing away what matters most
CHORUS 2.1
I can’t take the road you’re on
Where truth is fake, and right is wrong
You say you’re awake, but your eyes are closed
You’re throwing away what matters most
BRIDGE
You can push and squeeze, no matter how hard you try
I’ll always believe, and I’ll never deny (that)
CHORUS 3
I love God my Holy Father
I love my Savior Jesus Christ
I love and feel the Holy Spirit
Who gave me life through sacrifice – of the Living Christ
CHORUS 3.1
I love God my Holy Father
I love my Savior Jesus Christ (vocal accent repeat)
I feel the Holy Spirit (vocal accent repeat)
Who gave me life through sacrifice – praise Jesus Christ!
CHORUS 3.2
I love God (I love God) my Holy Father [Can you feel it?]
I love my Savior (I love my Savior) Jesus Christ [Stay strong brothers and sisters]
I feel (I feel) the Holy Spirit [Because we’re going to go away – one day]
Who gave me life through sacrifice – (praise Jesus Christ!) {fade out}

A Crown of Thorns
I wrote 'A Crown of Thorns' to honor and celebrate the resurrection of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! It is all the more special that my sons and brother sang on the recording with me and helped with the video.
I originally wanted to have this out before this past Easter, but I couldn't get it finished in time. I thought about holding it until next Easter, but - If we're lucky - our Lord will return before then. I might as well put it out now to be used to whatever effect the Lord wills. After all, Resurrection Day should be a source of continual celebration for all believers.
Blessings to all my brothers and sisters in Christ, and Happy Resurrection Day!
Soli Deo Gloria!

When the Man in Me Is Gone
"When the Man in Me Is Gone" is a song that depicts the struggle with - and ultimate victory over - the taint of sin. It is based on chapters 7 and 8 of Romans. It has been said that the Apostle Paul conquered Romans 7 by preaching Romans 8, the dark struggle giving way to radiant freedom. That powerful contrast was my inspiration in this.
This song was played at my uncle's funeral. A good man. Both of my parents have requested it to be played at theirs, and I imagine it will likely be played at mine. But, right now I am here. There is still beauty to behold and good I can do as I await that blessed day.

*** I wish to credit and thank my cousin, Terry, for the wonderful lead vocals. He has been blessed by God. I love you, brother!***

I leave you with these words:
Romans 8:18 - For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

CARS OF COAL: A Tribute To Coal Miners - From A Coal Miner
OK, here we go! This first song isn't the one I intended to start out with, but God in His providence always has the better plan. This is one of those songs about life that I mentioned in my bio.
I wrote and recorded this song as a tribute for my father a few years after he retired from the coal mine. I gave it to him on Father's Day close to 15 years ago. Until now, it has just been a song for family and a few friends. I performed all the music and sang the harmonies, but I need to thank my buddy, Brandon, for providing lead vocals on a song that is still hard for me to sing without my voice shaking.
Now, my father and I wish to extend it as a tribute to all coal miners, as well as an even loftier tribute to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I hope you enjoy it! Soli Deo Gloria!
