Police agencies from across Canada and in the U.S. have made a record-setting drug bust with roots in Alberta. And Global News has learned one of the men charged in the investigation recently survived a shooting in southwest Calgary.

A man has been charged with multiple counts of murder and arson in connection with the triple homicide of his wife and two young children on Montreal’s south shore. Mohamad Al Ballouz, 36, is the same man who was questioned by investigators and was previously considered an “important witness” by Longueuil police.

Twenty-two-year-old Mahsa Amini died on Sept. 16 while in police custody. She was apprehended in Iran by the country's morality police for "unsuitable attire," allegedly wearing a hijab improperly and breaking a strictly enforced dress code.
