Skin irritation can be so.... irritating! Peristomal skin damage can be difficult to manage, especially if you do not know the cause of it. I talk about irritant dermatitis, allergic dermatitis, and fungal infections. I speak to my own experience having difficult with different ostomy flanges and flange extenders and well as some issues I believe I had with a fungal infection! When I was a teenager, my Crohn's disease came to a point where tube feeding was needed. My disease had made it so nutrition was very difficult for me to maintain, so receiving nightly feeds to supplement my daily intake. The nasogastric tube feeding helped me to put on a little weight. Today I wanted to share some of my stoma friendly swimsuits I purchased for the summer! I have found a balance between hiding my ostomy away and letting it show for everyone to see.
