I Can Only Imagine - Jon Erwin
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Today on Educate For Life, Kevin has as his guest Jon Erwin. Jon Erwin is the co-writer and director of a new movie called “I Can Only Imagine” based on the hit song by the Christian band MercyMe.
It’s the song that brings ultimate hope to so many … often in the midst of life’s most challenging moments. Amazingly, the song was written in mere minutes by MercyMe lead singer Bart Millard. In reality, those lyrics took a lifetime to craft. Although he found faith at a young age, life wasn’t easy for Bart. He leaned into an active imagination and his love of music as escapes from troubled home life. As he grew older, Bart turned to football in hopes of somehow connecting with his abusive father. But a career-ending injury—combined with the vision of a teacher who saw unlimited potential—set Bart on a musical pathway.
Chasing a dream while running from broken relationships with his father and Shannon, his childhood sweetheart, Bart hits the road in an old, decrepit tour bus with his new band MercyMe—named for his grandmother’s favorite expression. With the guidance of a grizzled music-industry insider, the band begins a journey none of them could ever have imagined.
A gripping reminder of the power of forgiveness, “I CAN ONLY IMAGINE” beautifully illustrates that no one is ever too far from God’s love—or from an eternal home in Heaven.

dog rescued from boa
this is a freaky video! but thankfully these boys were able to save their dog from the boa. Metaphorically, it reminds me of the scripture that teaches us to rescue people from the flames (Jude 1:23) and that we are to correct people who don't believe the truth in the hopes that they will come to their senses and escape from the devil and find salvation in God. (2 Timothy 2:26) The more we are able to respond to people's questions about God, the more opportunities we will have to rescue people and help them turn to Christ! All my classes are meant to help you become a spiritual lifeguard https://educateforlife.org

Is Abortion Ever Acceptable? - Rebecca Kiessling
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Today on Educate For Life, Kevin has as his guest Rebecca Kiessling. Rebecca Kiessling is a remarkable woman with a powerful story to tell. She is the daughter of a woman that was raped and she was conceived as a result. Her mother could have aborted her, but she didn’t. Rebecca is here today to explain how abortion is not acceptable even under the exception of rape.
We’ve all heard someone say: “I’m pro-life, well, except in cases of rape . . .” or “I’m pro-choice, especially in cases of rape !” Have you ever considered how really insulting it is to say to someone, “I think your mother should have been able to abort you.”? It’s like saying, “If I had my way, you’d be dead right now.” And that is the reality with which Rebecca lives every time someone says they are pro-choice or pro-life “except in cases of rape” because Rebecca absolutely would have been aborted if it had been legal in Michigan when she was an unborn child, and she can tell you that it hurts. But she knows that most people don’t put a face to this issue — for them, abortion is just a concept — with a quick cliche, they sweep it under the rug and forget about it. Rebecca hopes that, as a child conceived in rape, she can help to put a face, a voice, and a story to this issue.
In reply, some have said to her, “So does that mean you’re pro-rape?” Though ludicrous, she’ll address it because she understands that they aren’t thinking things through. There is a huge moral difference because she did exist, and her life would have been ended because she would have been killed by a brutal abortion. You can only be killed and your life can only be devalued once you exist. Being thankful that her life was protected in no way makes her pro-rape.
Tune in to hear a powerful testimony and learn how even under rape, abortion is not a good response. If you want to learn more about Rebecca Kiessling and her work, head to http://www.rebeccakiessling.com/.

Solving the School Shootings Problem - Nate Landis
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
School shootings appear to be on the rise. According to some sources, there have already been 17 school shootings in 2018. That’s twice as many as the first two months of last year. What is causing this rise in school shootings? Is there a solution to this problem?
Kevin’s guest today is Nate Landis with Urban Youth Collaborative. According to Nate Landis, there is a good solution that would solve gun violence in schools and it isn’t gun control. The real solution is to get churches involved in schools.
Nate Landis and the Urban Youth Collaborative sponsor student-led Christian groups that work their schools and communities to impact them for Christ. Urban Youth Collaborative (UYC) is a coalition of 45 church partners that support student-initiated and student-led faith clubs at 97 middle and high school campuses in San Diego County and motivational assemblies in Mexico. Students serve physical and spiritual food to over three thousand of their friends each week and look for practical ways to make a difference in their local communities. In 2017, young people generated over 30,000 hours of voluntary community service in Southern California and around the world!
Tune in to hear how Nate Landis believes the issue of school shootings can be solved by students from the inside out. If you want to find out more about Urban Youth Collaborative, head over to https://www.uyc.org. You can also learn how to get involved to change your community and/or your school.

Exit From Suicide - Ray Comfort
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Suicide is the second leading cause of death for those aged 10 to 24. Every day in the U.S. an average of over 3,470 people attempt suicide. These statistics are staggering and tragic. Why are so many considering and even attempting suicide? Is there anything we can do to reduce these numbers?
Today on Educate For Life Kevin has as his guest, Ray Comfort. Ray Comfort is the Founder/President/CEO of Living Waters Publications. Ray Comfort is a well-known evangelist and apologist. After relocating from New Zealand to Southern California in the late 1980s, Ray introduced a long line of pastors and churches to a biblical teaching which he called Hell's Best Kept Secret. The positive and enthusiastic response that followed took Ray’s Living Waters Publications ministry to a whole new level.
Ray Comfort has produced several movies speaking to the truth of God and the Bible, including his newest film, Exit: The Appeal of Suicide. In this movie, he explores depression, its sources, and why so many see suicide as the only way out.
If you or someone you know is suffering from depression, please toon in and share this show. Please also check out and share Ray Comfort’s new video at https://www.livingwaters.com/movie/exit-the-appeal-of-suicide/

Human Trafficking: The New Slavery - Michele Shumaker, Jessica, Dr. Jerry Andrews
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
A recent study by Point Loma Nazarene and the University of San Diego Kroc School of Peace uncovered some horrifying statistics about the extent of this underground industry in San Diego County. Human trafficking is estimated to be an $810 million annual business that could have more than 8,000 victims a year. Out of 20 high schools surveyed, 100 percent reported incidents of recruitment, and 42 percent of first-time prostitution arrests are in fact sex-trafficking cases.
Shockingly, San Diego is one of the cities where this kind of crime is most prevalent. Today on Educate For Life, Kevin has as guests Michele Shumaker, who is with the Point Loma Nazarene University Center for Justice and Reconciliation, Jessica, who is a survivor of human trafficking, and Dr. Jerry Andrews, who is the senior pastor at First Presbyterian Church in San Diego.
Michele Shumaker’s organization runs programs called kNOw More. The curriculum was developed based on the pedagogical understanding that students will best respond to and retain learning experiences gained through:
* Creative Mediums
* Direct Interaction with the Material
* Peer Facilitation
The curriculum is primarily co-facilitated by a survivor facilitator and a teaching artist/joker who move the participants through drama, interaction with peer facilitators, dialogue, and informative visuals. This program creatively empowers the students to recognize human trafficking in their current context and to respond when they or their peers may be targeted for trafficking.
They also offer a “Beauty For Ashes” scholarship for survivors of human trafficking. Jessica is a recipient of that scholarship and is here to tell an amazing story of how she was forced into that lifestyle and was later able to leave it.
Dr. Jerry Andrews’ church participates in Churches Against Trafficking. It is an organically started networking group that has come to fruition from the strong desire to connect Christian ministry leaders wanting to engage in the Anti-Trafficking work in San Diego. Collaborating with other like-minded Christians, we held our first meeting in June of 2013. We currently meet bi-monthly in Mission Valley at Mission Church of the Nazarene, 4750 Mission Gorge Place, San Diego, CA 92120.
Tune in for an information-packed show and learn how you can get involved in your community to fight human trafficking. Forged From Reformation - Corey Marsh
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
October 31st, 2017 marks an important point in history. It is the 500th anniversary of Martin Luther and the 95 Theses, which kickstarted what would be known as the protestant reformation. Corey Marsh joins Kevin to talk about its importance in history and how it is still having an impact on Christianity today. Corey is a seminary professor at Southern California Seminary and he will also talk about a book he helped edit called “Forged From Reformation” which details this incredible history.
It has been five-hundred years since Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-Five Theses to the door at Wittenberg, fanning the flames of the Protestant Reformation. These many years later, we are no less indebted to Luther and the many who accompanied him in times of reform – who set out to return Christian thought and practice to more biblical orthodoxy. Exemplified by Luther’s five Solas (sola scriptura, sola Deo Gloria, sola Christus, sola gratia, and sola fide), the Reformation represented and was spurred on by a return to biblical scholarship in the original languages, and by a more consistent application of the literal grammatical-historical hermeneutic.
Forged from the fires of the Reformation’s heightened attention to the Bible and its details, a more refined and systematic dispensational understanding has developed and continues to be shaped. This book, written by a diverse and accomplished group of dispensational scholars, articulates in each and every chapter how, five-hundred years later, dispensational thought upholds and advances the legacy of the Reformation unlike any other theological system in the Christian tradition.
If you want to learn more about the book and the authors, you can go to forgedfromreformation.com. You can also order the book from this site. To find out more about Corey and Southern California Seminary, head over to socalsem.edu.

Leaving Mormonism - Dr. Corey Miller
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Today on Educate For Life, Kevin has as his guest Dr. Corey Miller. Corey Miller, Ph.D., is the President/CEO of Ratio Christi (2015). While he grew up in Utah as a sixth-generation Mormon, he came to Christ in 1988 and he has since been a youth and college pastor, a Bible college and university professor, campus minister, lecturer, and first and foremost an evangelist. From 2009-15 he served on staff with Cru's Faculty Commons ministry at Purdue. He is an Adjunct Professor of Philosophy and Comparative Religions at Indiana University-Kokomo. He is variously published and is co-editor of Is Faith in God Reasonable? Debates in Philosophy, Science, and Rhetoric (2014) and co-author of Ex-Mormon Scholars Tell Why: Testimonies and Reasons (forthcoming, 2017). He holds a master's degree in philosophy, biblical studies, and philosophy of religion and ethics.
Corey was raised a sixth-generation Mormon in Salt Lake City, Utah, with ancestors who were direct acquaintances with Joseph Smith and Brigham Young. Although Utah Mormonism is less insulated now, growing up he was honestly unaware that there were so many other options outside of Mormonism. But he was not concerned and felt secure in his religion.
Corey was invited to spend the summer of 1988 with a friend at his home in California. But his father made it contingent upon attending a non-denominational Christian camp there called Hume Lake. Although Corey was not living the ideal Mormon life at the time, he had no thought of ever changing religions. He believed Mormonism to be the one true religion. If it were not for the appeal of spending the entire summer on California beaches, he probably would not have attended the camp at all.
I arrived at Hume Lake without any great expectations. To his surprise, the camp speaker delivered a message that week on the topic of hell with a robust presentation of the Gospel. His soul resonated with the message and for the first time in his life, he understood his need for forgiveness. Devastated and in tears, he realized he was a sinner and could not merit forgiveness. He found security in Christ and it was further authenticated by seeing Christ's love displayed through the people in a way he had not previously encountered. There was something authentic and non-religious about it. Even with the religious upbringing, he never experienced God's love in that way until he met these people and then met their source, Jesus Christ.
Tune in for a powerful discussion on why Dr. Corey Miller and many other people have left Mormonism. Visit ratiochristi.org to learn more about the mission of Ratio Christi and the impact it is having around the world. You can also learn how you can get involved.

Faith, Freedom, and Public Schools - Eric Buehrer
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
There is a common perception that the teaching of religion, particularly Christianity, is not allowed in public schools. The most common reason for this is separation of church and state. But many states not only allow it, they require it as part of their curriculum.
For example, in the state of California, sixth grade students are expected to: “Note the origins of Christianity in the Jewish Messianic prophecies, the life and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth as described in the New Testament, and the contribution of St. Paul the Apostle to the definition and spread of Christian beliefs (e.g., belief in the Trinity, resurrection, salvation).”
Today on Educate For Life, Kevin’s guest is Eric Buehrer. Eric is the president of Gateways For Better Education. As a former public school teacher, Eric Buehrer can relate to both sides of the religion-in-schools debate. He writes and lectures extensively on the subject of religion and public education. His audiences include parents, teachers, school administrators, school board members, college students, and churches.
Join Kevin and Eric for an insightful conversation on the connection between religion and public schools. Whether you are a teacher or a parent, we hope this conversation will both inform you and encourage you.

Moms: Unsung Heroes - Missy Robertson and Kimberley Fletcher
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
In a sequel to last week’s episode on moms, Kevin has two special guests on the show. Their names are Missy Robertson and Kimberley Fletcher. Being mothers themselves, they understand how difficult raising children can be but believe that it is the most important role women have.
Missy Robertson is the wife of Jase Robertson and has learned to live life in the spotlight as she plays an important part in her family’s record-breaking reality television series, Duck Dynasty. Despite the increased publicity on her family, company, and personal life, she has become a strong voice for morality and virtue both locally and globally. Missy is a devoted mother of three children who focuses on having a strong, happy, and loving family. She also runs her own jewelry business and is the ultimate working mom.
Kimberly Fletcher is an Air Force wife, mother of 8 children and president and founder of Homemakers for America (founded 2004). She is also the author of the book WOMEN: America’s Last Best Hope, and a contributing writer with The Blaze and Townhall.com. Labeled by the media as “an unabashed America-loving homemaker," Kimberly has made it her personal mission to educate and inspire the women of America to realize their immeasurable worth and powerful influence on society simply by being who they are.
These two women shatter the modern perception that women need to be outside of the home in order to be influential. Rather, they both believe that the greatest power a woman has to influence culture is by being a mother. Tune in to Educate For Life to hear a great discussion. You don’t want to miss it.

Modern Mom - Candy Carson
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Being a modern mom is difficult. There is increasing pressure on women to get out of the home by getting a good education and getting a high paying job. While these are great things, new research suggests that these are not the most important things for women. Surprisingly, being a parent and being involved with their children rank the highest. So how does the modern mom juggle all these priorities?
Kevin’s guest today is Candy Carson. She is the wife of Dr. Ben Carson, presidential candidate and current Director of HUD. Candy is also a mom. She knows first hand the importance of being a mom and raising children. She will share her valuable experience.
Candy is also involved in the Mom’s March For America, taking place in Omaha, Nebraska. The goal of the Moms March is to shine a light on the powerful influence of mothers on our nation and come together to stand for decency, truth, family, freedom, and the constitution that protects our divine rights as mothers. They hope to counter the cultural pressure on women that says women should not focus on being moms.

Living through abortion and with a transgender father - Kori Peterson
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Imagine if you had a transgender family member or friend. Would that change your perception of that person? Would it change how you interacted with that person? Or would you just accept that person for who they are and move on? These are difficult questions to answer.
Our guest Kori Peterson has had to explore these questions to find answers on how to love her father who has become transgender. Kori has also had to deal with the pain and suffering that comes from abortion. Through her faith in Jesus Christ, she has learned that she needs to show love to her father, but that love doesn’t mean endorsing his lifestyle.
Currently, Kori Peterson is with Concerned Women For America. Concerned Women for America (CWA) is the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization with a rich history of over 35 years of helping their members across the country apply Biblical principles in all levels of public policy.
Whether you have a transgender family member or not, we hope that this episode will be insightful and encouraging.

A Universe From Nothing - Dr. Lawrence Krauss
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Today on Educate For Life, Kevin’s guest is Dr. Lawrence Krauss. Prof. Lawrence M. Krauss is an internationally known theoretical physicist with wide research interests, including the interface between elementary particle physics and cosmology, where his studies include the early universe, the nature of dark matter, general relativity, and neutrino astrophysics. He has investigated questions ranging from the nature of exploding stars to issues of the origin of all mass in the universe.
He received undergraduate degrees in both Mathematics and Physics at Carleton University. He received his Ph.D. in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1982), then joined the Harvard Society of Fellows (1982-85). He joined the faculty of the departments of Physics and Astronomy at Yale University as an assistant professor in 1985, and associate professor in 1988. In 1993 he was named the Ambrose Swasey Professor of Physics, Professor of Astronomy, and Chairman of the Department of Physics at Case Western Reserve University.
Currently, he is a Professor of Physics at Arizona State University and is Director of the Origins Project. As planned, Origins will become a national center for research and outreach on origins issues, from the origins of the universe, to human origins, to the origins of consciousness and culture.
With years of study and scientific knowledge, Dr. Krauss thinks it’s more likely than not that there is no God and that the Universe came from nothing. Dr. Krauss and Kevin will discuss this issue and you will get to hear a view you might not always get to hear. If you want to learn more about Dr. Lawrence Krauss and his groundbreaking research, you can go to http://krauss.faculty.asu.edu.

Addicted America - Herlindo, Lucia, and Rita
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
According to drugfree.org, twenty-three million Americans are currently addicted to alcohol and/or other drugs. This is a shocking and sad statistic. But what’s worse is that only one in 10 addicts (2.6 million) receives the treatment they need. This results in a treatment gap of more than 20 million Americans. Among reasons for not receiving treatment, is cost and lack of insurance. But perhaps a larger hidden reason is the addictive power of these drugs keeps pulling addicts back into a vicious cycle where there can seem as if there is no way out.
Today on Educate For Life, Kevin is talking to a trio of guests representing Teen Challenge. Teen Challenge is a non-profit organization that relies entirely on the generous donations, funding, and volunteer efforts of both individuals and organizations throughout communities in order to offer services that help addicts escape addiction at no cost to the individual. They are on the front lines in cities across the United States helping to close the addiction treatment gap and giving hope and freedom to millions of people.
You will also hear the incredible story of Rita. She is a graduate of Teen Challenge. She will share firsthand what it is like to be heavily addicted to drugs and what it is like to find a way out. If you want to learn more about Teen Challenge, check out teenchallenge.org. You can read testimonials or find information on getting treatment. Understanding Transgenderism - Denise Shick
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Transgenderism is becoming more and more prominent in American culture. But why? Is it a harmless lifestyle or a destructive trend? Today on Educate For Life Kevin’s guest is Denise Shick. Denise Shick has experienced transgenderism firsthand.
When Denise was 9 years her father sat down with her and explained how he wanted to become a woman. This was too much for a 9-year-old to understand and process. It caused her to become confused about her own gender and to develop a hatred toward her father.
Now Denise runs a ministry focused on helping to heal families and individuals that have been negatively impacted by transgender family members. If you want to learn more about Denise and her ministry you can go to http://www.help4families.com

Islam in Public Schools? - Chuck Limandri
Join our team, get educated, make a difference. http://join.educateforlife.org
Read a former Muslim's perspective on why Americans should be concerned about the spread of Islam in the USA http://amzn.to/2t39gWs
Today on Educate For Life, Kevin is talking with attorney Chuck Limandri to shed light on an important issue that may soon affect the San Diego public school system. The district wants to implement a curriculum that would educate students about Islam. On the surface, that doesn’t sound so bad, but Chuck Limandri sees it as an attempt to indoctrinate students.
The motivation to implement this new curriculum comes from studies that seem to show that Muslim students are bullied more than any other group. But the studies are deeply flawed in many ways including the fact that they consider disagreeing with Islam as a type of bullying. CAIR, the Center for Islamic and American Relations is the group that wants to implement this curriculum. They have stated that their goal is to use San Diego as a test platform to see if they can implement it all across the U.S. in order to use the education system to transform America into an Islamic country.
Chuck Limandri has viewed the curriculum and he says it is incredibly one sided and teaches Islam uncritically to impressionable students. He says it is not the role of public schools to promote one particular view or religion over another. Further more, it would be promoting a belief system that is diametrically opposed to American values in many ways. According to what he has seen, this is exactly what this curriculum does. He says that if public schools would teach Islam in balance with other world religions, he would see no issue with it.
Tune in to Educate For Life to learn about this important issue and see why Chuck has legal objections to the implementation of this proposed curriculum. You don’t want to miss it.
