Margaritaville, a Jimmy Buffett song, played on mountain dulcimer
Video made to demo a tablature arrangement I made recently. Tab will be available on Sheet Music Plus and contains both Advanced Beginner and Intermediate scores.
Good way to start with one and two finger chords in the Basic variation and then add the more complex chord voicings found in the Intermediate variation as you become familiar with the song.
This demo is one time through with no repeats.
Played on a New Harmony dulcimer in DAD.

Handle with Care, a Traveling Wilburys song played on mountain dulcimer
Arranged this popular Traveling Wilburys song recently, shown played on a New Harmony dulcimer in the video.
Tuned to standard DAd (1-5-8) tuning, does make use of the 1+ fret and a couple of bends on strings in the chorus.
Ton of fun to play!
You can find copies of the tablature for this song here:

Isn't She Lovely, a Stevie Wonder song, played on mountain dulcimer
Just doing a quick sound test on a brand new dulcimer.
This is a New Harmony Pudge Pro I received just two days ago.
Sinker redwood top, canary sides and back, ebony fretboard, hipshot tuners, custom sound holes. Although played as an acoustic instrument in this video, it is equipped with double amp pickups.
Has a very rich voice and easy action. 24" VSL. I'm really pleased with it!

My Sweet Lord, a George Harrison song played on the mountain dulcimer
Recently arranged one of my favorite George Harrison / Billy Preston songs to play on my New Harmony dulcimer. Tuned to standard DAd (1-5-8) tuning, no extra frets needed even with the key change on the last verse.
Simple bends are used in the diatonic version, but I also include a chromatic version using all those half steps without bends in the tablature, which can be found here:

Brandy (You're a Fine Girl) played on the chromatic mountain dulcimer
Posting a little early because I've created TAB for it, but it will only be available for a short time due to a copyright licensing issue. Could still use a little polish, but I'm liking it so far.
Played on a New Harmony chromatic dulcimer and using a leather pick for a bit rounder sound.
Arranged in the original key of E major for dulcimer tuned to DAd (1-5-8) tuning. Requires the 0+ and 3+ frets. Suggested for intermediate players and above.

Setting quilt blocks on point - a discussion with Loose Thread Quilters
Today we held a discussion on how to make an appliqued Aster flower basket block...and then how to set that block on point into a quilting project.
Also taught today was a neat no-waste trick on how to calculate corner triangles and setting triangles for any size quilt block.
Check out our Facebook page for a clearer image of the size charts and formulas we used in the video. A link will be posted in the comments.

Same Old Lang Syne, a Dan Fogelberg song played on the mountain dulcimer
My attempt at fingerpicking Same Old Lang Syne, an old Dan Fogelberg tune. A little melancholy, but a pretty melody nonetheless. An often overlooked holiday classic (rock) ballad.
"Met my old lover in the grocery store
The snow was falling Christmas Eve
I stole behind her in the frozen foods
And I touched her on the sleeve
She didn't recognize the face at first
But then her eyes flew open wide
She went to hug me and she spilled her purse
And we laughed until we cried
We took her groceries to the checkout stand
The food was totaled up and bagged
We stood there lost in our embarrassment
As the conversation dragged
Went to have ourselves a drink or two
But couldn't find an open bar
We bought a six-pack at the liquor store
And we drank it in her car
We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to now
And tried to reach beyond the emptiness
But neither one knew how
She said she'd married her an architect
Who kept her warm and safe and dry
She would have liked to say she loved the man
But she didn't like to lie
I said the years had been a friend to her
And that her eyes were still as blue
But in those eyes I wasn't sure if I
Saw doubt or gratitude
She said she saw me in the record stores
And that I must be doing well
I said the audience was heavenly
But the traveling was hell
We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to now
And tried to reach beyond the emptiness
But neither one knew how
We drank a toast to innocence
We drank a toast to time
Reliving in our eloquence
Another 'auld lang syne'
The beer was empty and our tongues were tired
And running out of things to say
She gave a kiss to me as I got out
And I watched her drive away
Just for a moment I was back at school
And felt that old familiar pain
And as I turned to make my way back home
The snow turned into rain... "

Banks of the Catawba, a song played on the mountain dulcimer
This arrangement was written by Joe Collins. Played on my New Harmony dulcimer, fingerpick/brush style.
Been working on some techniques for my left hand, so I've incorporated quite a few hammer-ons and pull-offs throughout the piece.

Georgia On My Mind played on the mountain dulcimer
This classic song was really fun to sink my teeth into. Lots of sliding and pull offs to get the jazzy sounding rhythm going with minimal distraction.
Fingerpicked instead of strummed.
Played on a New Harmony dulcimer tuned to DAD (1-5-8), this arrangement is from John Sackenheim's tab book, Classic Country, vol. 1.

Happy Xmas (War is Over), a John Lennon/Yoko Ono song played on the dulcimer
This piece is actually written in four parts, but I only had myself. To get this video, I first recorded myself playing the most iconic of the backup rhythm harmony parts. I then ran the audio recording and played the main melodic line over it.
Not perfect, but fun.
Arrangement by Ron Zuckerman. Played in standard DAD (1-5-8) tuning on a New Harmony dulcimer.

It's Been a Long, Long Time: a Big Band tune played on the mountain dulcimer
"It's Been a Long, Long Time" is a big band-era song that was a hit at the end of World War II. Made popular by famed band leader Harry James and sung by notables such as Bing Crosby, this iconic song skyrocketed to number one on the charts in 1945. More recently recognized as the song Captain America and his sweetheart danced to during the closing credits of Avengers: Endgame.
I have arranged this using standard DAD (1-5-8) tuning, however a 1+ fret is required. Played on a New Harmony dulcimer.

Boogie Woogie Blues Study on chromatic dulcimer
Fooling around with a typical 12 bar blues, but I threw in a little boogie woogie / doo wop riff. Mostly just noodling and having some fun.
Dulcimers are hugely versatile instruments and they continually surprise me!

I Believe in You, a Don Williams song played on mountain dulcimer
I Believe in You was first released by Don Williams in 1980. The hit spent twelve weeks on the country charts and claimed two weeks in the #1 slot. The song also made a good showing in the Top 40 Pop charts later that year.
Arranged in standard DAD tuning (1-5-8), this Intermediate level song makes use of the 1+ fret and is in the key of G. The flowing melody of this classic country song works best when played over a basic strum rhythm.

You're In My Heart, a Rod Stewart song, arranged for the chromatic mountain dulcimer
I've recently arranged one of my favorite Rod Stewart songs to be able to play it on the dulcimer. Sounds really nice either fingerpicked or flatpicked.
Originally recorded in the key of B Major with the chorus in A, I've transposed it to the more friendly key of G with the chorus in Bb. Played on a chromatic dulcimer tuned to DAD.
