Cute Poodle Rescued Just Hours Before Euthanasia
It is a terrible thing to think about, which is probably why most choose to look the other way, but there are so many animals at shelters that, if they do not find forever homes, have to be euthanized. It is the cruel truth of the world, which is why veterinarians and activists implore pet owners to neuter and spay their pets so that there would be less unfortunate homeless animals on the streets.
Still, Eldad Hagar and his tireless rescue team at Hope For Paws do everything they can to save strays from this fate. When they heard about a dog named Edie who was just an hour away from being put down, they knew they had to move — and quick. But they didn’t get there quickly enough, because what they found was nothing short than a horror story.
They found the Maltese poodle mix in a high-kill shelter just an hour before she was scheduled for euthanasia. The reason - Edie was absolutely terrified of human contact. The team speculates that the white matted pooch might have been terribly molested in her past, making her fear even the sight of a human being.
That did not deter Eldad from his intentions to calm down the scared puppy and show her that there are kind spirits on this world that can love her the way she deserves. It didn’t take long for Edie to trust Eldad, so she lay on her back and let him scratch her tummy while wagging her tail, which is a true victory.
One grooming session later and the dirty fur came down to reveal a beautiful puppy underneath, just begging for some TLC.
Everything can be scary at the shelter when you weigh mere 10 pounds. Hope For Paws begs you not to overlook these animals when you are at a shelter, looking for a furry companion because all they need is a little hug!
We are here to share the love towards animals. In this spirit take a look at the next video where a volunteer team rescues dog affected by California fires.
A dog burnt in one of the fires raging across northern California was found and treated by a team of volunteers on August 5. This footage, filmed by Shelina Moreda, a volunteer with the NorCal Livestock Evacuation in Lake County, shows the dog, who appears to have suffered severe injuries from the blaze.
“This poor boy was burnt all over, his paws crisped and smoking,” Moreda wrote. “He had walked up to this man, one of his neighbors. Ken made a little bed for him, and was caring for him even though Ken had earlier in the day watched his own house burn to the ground.”
On August 7, the Mendocino Complex fire in Mendocino County, which borders Lake County, became the largest fire in California since accurate measurements began in 1932, Cal Fire said.
It seems that it is very visible when humans suffer the consequences of large natural disasters, like floods, earthquakes, drafts, and fires. But rarely ever anyone speaks or counts animal victims. This is why they are often referred to as the “silent victims”. It seems very unlikely that anyone has the capacities or the interest to investigate how many critters have vanished into the fire blaze that swept North California in the latest catastrophe. The estimation runs in millions. What we can do is at least number the pets rescue teams found after sweeping the area and helped where help was possible.

Homeless Dog Gets Saved And Taken Through Incredible Transformation
Your dog is probably the one who loves you more than anyone else in the world. There’s simply no creature more loyal or reliable out there. Who else follows you everywhere, literally jumps for joy when you come home, and simply loves you for you who are? However, not all of them are lucky enough to have a loving owner so some of them get mistreated and abbused. However, this is a story with a happy end.
There are approximately 1.2 million dogs trying to survive on the streets of Houston. Sick, injured and abused dogs are simply discarded like trash and left to die. Benji was an abused and abandoned young dog trying to survive on Houston's harsh streets. Watch this little dog's remarkable and inspiring story. Benji now lives a very blessed life with six other rescued dogs who all had tragic stories of their own.
Local dog rescue volunteers were alerted and Benji was found. It was Halloween so they named her Benji. What the picture didn’t show was that that Pumpkin was not alone. She had a puppy who was covered in fleas, unweaned and struggling to stay alive.
The doctors and nurses worked hard for days to keep them both alive. Benji was barely a year old and one very sick little girl. Tragically, her baby was too weak and undernourished to survive. She crossed over the Rainbow bridge surrounded by love and warmth.
Benji was a homeless dog his whole life. When Hope For Paws received the call about him, I asked Lisa Chiarelli to join me. Benji was very nervous, and when he realized that we were looking at him, he started running, and we started running after him! It was a little tricky because I had to keep an eye on him while running, and at the same time I had to set up my gentle snare AND keep my hand held camera straight – you’ll just have to see how I managed all that ;-)
After Lisa and I secured Benji, we got to take a close look him. Physically: he was so badly matted, covered with ticks and fleas, he bit his tongue as he was struggling to escape from us, so you’ll see a little bleeding – nothing serious. Mentally: Benji was living on the streets all his life, so human contact was so hard for him to get used to. After a 2 or 3 hours of grooming and medical care, he continued to Lisa Chiarelli’s house where for 10 days he almost didn’t move… frozen, always looking for a place to hide, and not wanting anyone to touch him. As usual, Lisa’s Pit Bull mixes - Lola and Frankie, decided to help Benji overcome his fears, and the result will make you so happy!!!
After we could see the change in him, Benji continued for further rehabilitation with our friends at PAL rescue, and they will also handle his adoption.
The process took 5 months of love and care – these things take time.
Please SHARE Benji’s video and help us show the world that all dogs deserve a second chance.
Thanks,
Eldad

Homeless Dog Kisses Her Puppies One By One As Rescuers Pull Them To Safety
During the worst storm of the year in Southern California, Hope For Paws received an urgent call about a homeless Pit Bull who had just given birth 48 hours ago. So they got in the car and drove 3.5 hours to find her. Luckily, they were able to get the mama and all of her eight puppies to safety.
Neighbors had been trying to save this stray Pit Bull for the past 3 months, but she just kept running away from them. However, when this rescue team approached her, she didn’t run away perhaps because her instinct to stay with her pups was too strong.
In order to save her and her puppies , the rescue team had to break through the bushes and crawl into her den. The dog was clearly scared and unsure of what was going on, but Hope for Paws reassured her there was nothing to worry about. First, they befriended her by feeding her and petting her, while speaking very softly to her and allowing her to take her time.
After a while, they gently put a leash on her, so she couldn’t run away. In fact, she was determined to stay with her puppies. The rescuers started to take the babies first, by allowing her to lick each of them before they were taken from her. After the puppies were safe, they had to get the mom out of the den and put her in a cage.
They reunited the puppies with their mama and the mom. It turns there were eight puppies! They named the mom Rainbow and the babies Thunder, Breezy, Misty, Raindrop, Flash, Bolt, Stormy and Droplet, which are all water and storm themed. How fitting!
If you’d like to adopt one of the pups or Rainbow, visit http://www.TheLittleRedDog.com. Also, please consider donating to Hope for Paws and help us save more lives: http://www.HopeForPaws.org

Pit Bull Gets Scared Of Rescuers, But A Cheeseburger Changes His Mind
When people are selfish and lack compassion, the animals pay the price and so do animal rescuers! These are the type of people that keep us up late at night, early Sunday mornings, out in below freezing temperatures, extreme heat, and of course holidays.
This poor pit bull was left behind in the street because the owner refused to take it to his new home out of state!
Banjo was wounded and living on the streets when Hope for Paws team came to rescue him.He ran away the minute when Hope for Paws team saw him, but sometimes all a dog needs to trust someone is a loving hand and a cheeseburger!
Banjo is an amazing dog He is only a year old, is up to date on all of his shots and has been neutered. He has a gorgeous white coat with black markings and a black nose. His eyes are like little angels and he has a sweet soul. This guy is a love bug. He has the sweetest temperament, super affectionate and loves to please.
He forms bonds easily with people and adores the trainer; He loves to get belly rubs. He has been in training for the last several weeks and knows all of his commands. He is smart and obedient. He will work for love more than food. He loves people.
He will go on a walk but does not need to go too far, as he has had a previous injury. When Hope for Paws found him, he had an injury on his paw from an unknown source. He has been fully checked out by the vet stitched up and is healing nicely. The pad on his paw is still a bit sensitive so he walks with a bit of a limp for now.
The vet feels that he will have a full recovery. Though he is dog-friendly, he is a little scared of larger dogs and it takes him a minute to trust. We absolutely adore this guy. He will be an amazing family member to any family. Dogs Are Man’s Best Friend, Many people will recognize the amazing feeling you get returning home to your dog after a long, hard day at work.
Having a waggy-tailed, four-legged friend to cuddle and to share walks with are just two advantages to life with a canine. Sadly, in many parts of the world, some dogs do not have the life they deserve: In fact, thousands of dogs are eaten and killed.

Animal Rescuers Climb 18 Feet Down A Cave To Rescue A Litter Of Puppies
Animals depend on human kindness and it is our sacred duty to keep them safe and put them out of harm's way. Puppies, being as fragile as they are, especially depend on our help. These little puppers were stuck 18 feet into the earth, but luckily for them, people with kind hearts managed to rescue them.
The mission wasn't easy and not everyone would have bothered, but it's an amazing feeling just to know that you've helped a helpless creature. Kindness sparks kindness in others, so hopefully this will get at least one person to do something kind to continue the chain. This video is in memory of our dear friend and rescuer: Lisa M Ashe.
Eldad and his team were called to rescue a litter of young puppies that have been living in a hole in the ground with their mother. The puppies weren’t too eager to trust the humans, so removing and taking them to safety was not a simple challenge.
The litter of nine puppies, along with their mother, was rescued one by one from the dark and wet dwelling they were hiding in and each was given a name starting with the letters in Lisa’s name. The five boys and four girls are doing splendidly and are ready for their forever homes.
Dogs are incredible creatures and man’s best friends! They are loyal, lovable, fun and will be there for us no matter what! But, not always owning a dog means to buy one, the best way to get a dog is to adopt one. All dogs deserve a home, a family who will love them and make them part of their family.
We are so happy to see people who are true heroes, people who would risk their lives just to save a dog and give them the life they deserve! These are the people who deserve awards and statues, and those are the people who show the world what the word ‘hero’ means.
Hope for Paws is a non-profit animal rescue organization. They rescue dogs, cats and other types of animals suffering on the streets or neglected in the wild. Through rescue and education, Hope For Paws works to raise awareness for abandoned animals, and they are doing a fantastic job, and we hope that they will continue with their great job. Don’t forget to support them!

Little Dog Gets Rescued From The River And Makes A Miraculous Recovery
Cue the waterworks and make sure you’ve got a box of tissues handy, because if this video doesn’t have you bawling (sad tears at first, then joyful ones), then you, my friend, have no soul. Hope for Paws in Los Angeles received a phone call reporting a puppy floating alone in the middle of the L.A. River. Somebody had abused the poor pup—leaving him minus a leg—and then tossed him into the canal more than thirty feet below. It’s a heartbreaking beginning to a story that—thanks to the many, many good hearted people involved in animal rescue in California—has a happy ending.
Volunteers were able to get out to the puppy and pull him from his dire predicament, before taking him to an animal hospital to receive the medical care and attention he desperately needed. From there, the puppy was placed in a foster home with a foster dog “mom” and big foster brothers and sisters to look after him. The brave, resilient puppy flourished in his happy new home environment, and trust us when you say that your heart will explode with joy by the time you get to the end of this video and see this happy little guy running, jumping, playing with his fur friends, and even swimming in a swimming pool! Living his very best life, in other words—and one that he richly deserves after everything he had to do to get there.
While we know how dismaying it can be to realize that there are actually people in this world who would do something like this to a defenseless animal, it also gives us renewed faith in humanity to see how very many people there are who are willing to help a helpless creature in need—and, ultimately, the number of “good guys” far outstrips the number of bad. This video is a bit of an emotional journey, but it’s one well worth taking—so we encourage you to hit the Play button now and set off as quickly as possible. This is just the pick me up that you need in your day—and one that you’ll definitely want to share with others in need of a little bit of restored faith themselves. And don’t forget our warning from earlier about breaking out the tissue box before you sit down to watch this. You’re definitely going to need them!

Dog Evaded Capture For 2 Years But What He Did After Caught Brought Tears To His Rescuer’s Eyes
This little escape artist, appropriately named Houdini, was first noticed at the Port of San Pedro in Los Angeles two years ago. Teams upon teams of rescuers have made attempts to capture the little doggy to no avail. Not even animal control could get him to safety. That did not dissuade Hope For Paws, who was determined to catch the clever, evasive dog.
The Hope For Paws team came for two consecutive days to the shipyard, trying to catch the slippery pooch. The first day they tried the nice way, laying out a trap for him with some treats. Houdini was clever though; he ate the food that was way laid out but didn’t even go near the cage. The second day the team came with the idea to chase him down and close off some of the exits of the port with netting, but the weather was against their efforts and it chased the scared puppy away.
Hope For Paws knew that they have to make the third attempt count, so they rallied the troops from Rescue From The Hart. They sealed off the entire port and decided they wouldn’t let tiny Houdini run away again.
When they were finally able to catch him, the pup was so terrified, he wanted to bite. So they brought Mike, the security guard that was feeding Houdini for two years without being able to touch or pet the scared rascal. When the organization was finally able to work their magic, they revealed that the terrified escape artist was hiding a beautiful little pet inside!
Please help send us on the next rescue mission by donating $5: http://www.HopeForPaws.org

Stray Dog Helps Her Rescuers Find Her Surviving Puppy
The Streets of Los Angeles are overflowing with stray dogs, left to fend for their own selves. Many of those strays are in terrible shape of worse, and most of them aren’t spayed or neutered, which in turn results in even more stray dogs, roaming the streets.
Hope For Paws, an animal rescue organization, received a call that one such homeless pup was in dire straits and living in a nursery. Rescuers Eldad Hagar and Lisa Arturo reported on the scene, to find a gray dog, which was wagging her tail but didn’t trust the human enough to approach them, so she hid under a car.
When the rescuers came closer to the scared puppy, she was still wagging her tail but wouldn’t go near them. Since she was almost inaccessible, they had to take drastic measure and grab her by the hind legs to pull her from under the car, kicking and screaming. Eventually she calmed down enough for them to put a leash on her and give her a pretty name, Petunia.
They noticed she was lactating, so they let mom Petunia lead them to her litter, where they found only one puppy, just two days old. The puppy was also a girl, so they named her Petals.
Both mom and baby were taken really good care of and placed in a foster home, waiting to be adopted!
Please donate $5 and help send us on the next rescue mission: http://www.HopeForPaws.org

Rescuer Asks For Homeless Dog’s Paw But He Leans In For A Hug Instead
Pets are amazing companions that overall make our lives much better. Sure, they can be a lot of hard work to raise, some might say it is almost like raising another child, but those challenges are heavily outweighed by the amazing love and memories that they will give that will last a life time. It is because of this that pets should be treated with the utmost respect and care. It is always sad to see pets abandoned and left alone. However as sad and heartbreaking that might be, there is no moment like rescuing that said pet from it's hard times. That seems to be exactly the case in this video right here!
In this heartwarming clip, pet rescue working find a neglected cocker spaniel and save it. The poor dog has been left starving, only to have these rescue workers feed it and save it. It was a good thing that these people came along when they did as the unthinkable could have happened to this dog if they came any later. These people are true heroes in our books! Faith in humanity restored!
Please share this heartwarming video with your family and friends to show the importance of having a pet and treating them with the utmost respect and care! This is one clip that no one should miss!

After Collapsing In A Family's Yard, Exhausted Puppy Gets A Second Chance At Life
When a dirty little pooch collapsed in a Los Angeles family back yard, they thought the pup was looking to catch a break. But when the pup didn’t move for hours, the people knew that something is wrong and they knew exactly who to call - Eldad Hagar and his team at Hope For Paws.
When the rescuers came, the woman tells Edgar and his colleague Loreta Frankonyte that the dog’s front paw looks broken and that it wouldn’t move after collapsing on a carpeted doormat. Loreta tried to touch and pet the injured doggie, but it jumped in fear and pain. Still, it wouldn’t move, a sure sign that it is injured.
“It’s okay" were the words whispered to the injured pup, as the two nice people were trying to comfort the dog and get him to trust them. They called him Milo. He wouldn’t let them pick him up, so Eldad improvised a gurney out of a blanket to get him in their car and straight to the hospital.
Vet determined that Milo had been bitten by some other dog and with his dirty matted fur, it was only a matter of time before his leg got infected and swollen the way it did. They managed to drain the puss from the wound, but his leg would never be the same again.
That didn’t stop sweet Milo to show his true, playful and lovable nature, which got him adopted with lightning speed. He got lucky to collapse where he did, now thriving in his new life.
Please help us save more dogs like Milo and make a small donation: http://www.HopeForPaws.org
Thank you Cause for SB Paws for finding him such an amazing home! They have many more beautiful dogs for adoption, so please check them out here: http://www.CauseForSBpaws.org

The Story About An Abandoned Dog Who Stepped On A Coyote Trap
Hermione was abandoned in a forest in South Carolina and she lived there for a year until one day she stepped on a rusty coyote trap. Animal Control and the local police tried to capture her for five days, but had no luck.
HopeForPaws were asked to fly from California and save her life. Loreta Frankonyte and I searched for her all day, but we couldn’t find her. We figured Hermione was scared of the officers who tried to help her. So, on the second day we asked them to let us work alone. In the days prior to our arrival, a humane trap was set, but Hermione wouldn’t walk into it.
From a distance we could see that the heavy metal coyote trap crushed her foot. Loreta kept talking to her and assured her she was safe with us. The trap caused a lot of pain so she kept licking her wound for comfort. We spent two hours trying to gain her trust, but she kept walking away.
All of a sudden, Hermione got spooked and retreated back into the woods. They realized they are going to need soccer nets so they had those shipped overnight and used them to catch the dog. A team of dozen volunteers helped to pull up the soccer net and went on a mission to catch Hermione.
After a tiresome chase, they caught her. After six long painful days, the rusty trap was finally off, and it was also discovered that Hermione suffered from heartworm. She had her leg in stitches and bandages and lost many bones in her rotting paw. However, she was on medications and wasn’t feeling any pain.
They transported her to Los Angeles to Dr. Robert Olds, the person who can save her leg. Hermione had to surgeries to construct a new paw for her leg. The healing process took a couple of months. The treatment for heartworm continued for several months as well and we are happy to report that she is completely healthy now! Thanks to the generous donations!
Please share her wonderful story! Special thanks to all the volunteers from South Carolina.

Children Try To Save These Puppies While Their Mom Was Looking For Food
An animal rescue team was informed that few kids playing at a construction site in their neighborhood have found five day old puppies. The kids have taken the puppies from the site, took them home and tried to bottle feed them. Not knowing that the puppies' mom went to find food for them, they were just trying to help. Realizing that, they agreed to return the stolen puppies.
The rescue team wanted to make sure that the puppies and their mother would receive a proper care. So, they placed the puppies in a puppy pen and sat it in the area where they were initially spotted, waiting for their mom to appear and meet them there. And so she did.
She tried to hide and keep distance from the rescuers, afraid that her puppies might get stolen again, as they were taken from her once before. The defensive mom growled whenever the rescuers tried to approach her to take her and her babies to a safe environment.
She eventually calmed down enough for the team to let her sniff her babies. The mom, later named Navalina, let the rescuers pet her and show her that they meant no harm to her or her babies.
They were able to get the lucky furry family to their facilities to give them food, care, and medical treatment. Most importantly, to give them love!
Please donate and help us save more lives this holiday season:

Dog's Registered Owner Thought She Was Dead For Two Years
Hope for Paws is a non-profit animal rescue organization. They rescue dogs, cats and other types of animals suffering on the streets or neglected in the wild. Through rescue and education, Hope For Paws works to raise awareness for abandoned animals. This was the same organization that was notified of a starving dog living in the mountains. Animal Control got alerted about this sick dog and they had tried to get her several times, but failed. Their efforts of catching the dog and placing it somewhere safe were in vain, until the skillful volunteers of Hope For Paws came to rescue.
The dog was malnourished and suffered from alopecia. Although she was nervous, she couldn’t resist the cheeseburger. One of the rescuers distracted the dog with the food while the other got the snare around her. She was startled for a second, but calmed down quickly and was happy to keep eating. She was successfully taken to safety and the two girls who rescued her decided to call her Edna. The first thing the volunteers did was to get Edna at the vet’s office. The plan was to help the dog recover completely after which they would help her find a proper home.
They thought that Edna was a stray dog until they discovered that she had a microchip during the check up. That meant nothing else but that she wasn’t a stray dog and she had an owner. It was a lucky circumstance for this dog since it could get back the deserved life she had before she was lost. The volunteers contacted the owner and she was surprised by the call telling them that she gave the dog away to another family two years ago. In one occasion she asked the family if the dog was doing well but they told her it had passed away.
The volunteers decided to offer back the dog to the first owner but she rejected it. This sounded like a bad news at first but the volunteers then realized that if she had given up the dog in the first place then she didn’t deserve to have it. Edna deserved a better owner who would love her and keep her safe at all times. Fortunately, this dog’s happiness smiled at her and she ended up with a perfect family that love her with all their hearts.
We are very thankful for organizations such as Hope for Paws that restore our faith in humanity with every rescue story they post.
In fact, showing little acts of kindness should be a daily occurrence and we should never forget that small things can provoke strong feelings. Though they may look trivial, they could mean the whole world to somebody. Let’s not forget to do something as simple and kind as this every day since it is a recipe for a cheerful and fruitful life. There is nothing more elevating than making someone happy. After all, it’s inspiring!

Microchip Implants Help Reunite Lost Dogs With Owners
Kind citizen Allison Dunbar noticed a dog hiding underneath a car which was parked on the side of a busy street and decided to give Hope For Paws a call in order for their team to come to the rescue.
She tried to get the dog out but the pooch was so scared. Allison was afraid that the dog might feel threatened and chased by her, that she may run out from her hiding place and into the busy street.
She When the man from Hope For Paws arrived at the scene, he started throwing small pieces of food at the dog, but the scared dog wasn’t interested in the food. Upon the failed attempt to lure the dog with food, the man decided to enclose the car by putting up a fence around the vehicle, preventing the scared dog to run out on the busy street. The fencing and netting helped keep the dog in place, limiting her moves.
Next, they proceeded with their mission by placing a Lucky leash on this tiny dog’s neck and using it to guide the pooch out from its hiding place. It was the soothing voice and the gentle touch of her rescuer that encouraged this dog to come out of the dark hiding place and walk into the light. The man was petting and soothing the dog with his sweet voice. Moments later, the pooch even got the nerve to get into this man’s lap. Amazing!
The man checked the dog for a microchip. When he heard the beep sound he immediately knew that she is domesticated. This enabled him to call this dog’s owners and inform them that they found her! Using the microchip information they were able to call her dad, Dave, who informed them that her name was Luna.
It was four days earlier that Dave had been walking Luna and her brother when a car sped through a crosswalk and struck her brother. Though her brother wasn’t badly injured, in all the chaos Luna slipped out of her collar and ran away. Dave had been searching for her ever since.
