400 Year Old Copenhagen Stock Exchange Building Went Up In Flames
Associated Press 4/16/24: COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) — A fire raged through one of Copenhagen’s oldest buildings Tuesday, destroying about half of the 17th-century Old Stock Exchange and collapsing its iconic dragon-tail spire, as passersby rushed to help emergency services save priceless paintings and other valuables.
The blaze broke out on the building’s roof during renovations, but police said it was too early to pinpoint the cause. The red-brick building, with its green copper roof and distinctive 56-meter (184-foot) spire in the shape of four intertwined dragon tails, is a major tourist attraction next to Denmark’s parliament, Christiansborg Palace, in the heart of the capital.
Bells tolled and sirens sounded as fire engulfed the spire and sent it crashing onto the building, which was shrouded by scaffolding. Huge billows of smoke rose over downtown Copenhagen and could be seen from southern Sweden, which is separated from the Danish capital by a narrow waterway.

FINLAND: 12yo Boy Shot And Killed 6th Grade Classmate And Injured 2 Others
Reuters 4/3/24: HELSINKI, April 3 (Reuters) - A 12-year-old boy who shot and killed a fellow sixth-grader and severely injured two others at a school in Finland has said he was a target of bullying and that this was the motive for his attack, police said on Wednesday.
The boy on Tuesday brought a relative's revolver to Viertola school near Helsinki and shot the three 12-year-olds and threatened several others. He had transferred to the school at the start of 2024, investigators said.
Finland held a national day of mourning on Wednesday, with flags on public buildings flown at half-mast in a sign of respect for the dead child. The two other pupils remained in hospital, with what police said were life-threatening injuries.
"We just found out today that there was this bullying behind the tragedy," lead investigator Detective Chief Inspector Marko Sarkka told Reuters. He declined to elaborate.
Police have not said whether the attacker sought to target any specific individuals.
Finland has seen a rising level of bullying in schools, with 8.6% of pupils who are now around 12 years old saying they had been targeted at least once a week, up from 7.2% in 2019, according to a 2023 study by public health institute THL.
The permit for the revolver used in Tuesday's attack belonged to a relative of the suspect, police said. It was not immediately clear how the shooter had obtained the weapon.

Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel was stabbed by 16yo male during live service in Sydney, Australia.
ABC News 4/15/24: SYDNEY -- Australian police say a knife attack in Sydney that wounded a bishop and a priest during a church service as horrified worshippers watched online and in person was an act of terrorism.
Police arrested a 16-year-old boy Tuesday after the stabbing at Christ the Good Shepherd Church that injured Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel and a priest. Both are expected to survive.
New South Wales Police Commissioner Karen Webb said the suspect’s comments pointed to a religious motive for the attack.
“We’ll allege there’s a degree of premeditation on the basis that this person has travelled to that location, which is not near his residential address, he has travelled with a knife and subsequently the bishop and the priest have been stabbed,” Webb said. “They’re lucky to be alive.”
The teenager was known to police but was not on a terror watch list, Webb said.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the boy was 16, adding that “there is no place for violence in our community. There’s no place for violent extremism.” Previously authorities had said he was 15.

Enraged Man Denied Commercial Driver's License Stole 18 Wheeler To Crashed Into Building
Wow. It feels like so many people are losing it over hurt feelings. 🥺 no self control.
KHOU11 News 4/12/24: BRENHAM, Texas — One person was killed and 13 others were injured Friday after a man stole an 18-wheeler and crashed it into aTexas DPSoffice in Brenham, according to theTexas Department of Public Safety.
The DPS office is located offHighway 290 on the southwest side of Brenham.
Texas DPS Sgt. Justin Reese saidClenard Parker, 42, stole the big rig out of Chappell Hill, which is about 15 minutes away from Brenham.
When law enforcement spotted the stolen big rig, they tried to get Parker to stop but he took off, heading westbound on Highway 290. He made a U-turn and started traveling east on the Highway 290 service road before taking a hard right turn and driving right through the front door of the Texas DPS office, Reese said. That's where the waiting area and the driver's license front desks are.
At one point, Parker drove the big rig out of the DPS office and had intentions of crashing through the building again, but he was quickly taken out of the driver's seat by law enforcement and put in handcuffs, Reese said. He's in the custody of the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
"I want to say thanks to our first responders," said Atwood Kenjura, the mayor of Brenham. "Had it not been for their quick action...the suspect was backing the vehicle up with the intent of going into it again. Our fire chief mentioned that if he had veered a little bit to the left the second time, there would have been a collapse of that building, which would have resulted in a lot more injuries and possible deaths."
The impact of the crash caused all 14 people inside the building to be hurt. Three of them were flown to the hospital where one of them died. Three others were taken by ambulances but have since been released. Eight people were treated on scene and released, Reese said.
The suspect was not injured.

Republican Governor DeSantis Signed 5 Bills Protecting Children
Yay this is great news for Floridians. 👏 I wish California had a Governor that cared about Californians.
Tampa Bay news 4/10/24: Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a handful of bills aimed at keeping kids safe from sexual predators.
During a news conference Wednesday at The Urban Stillhouse in St. Pete, the governor gave final approval to five bills. Here's what each of them do:
HB 1545: Child Exploitation Offenses
This bill specifically cracks down on the "grooming" of minors that happens online, DeSantis said.
It increases the penalties for child exploitation charges and creates a new offense of "Harmful Communication to a Minor" within Florida's criminal code.
If convicted of the crime, prosecutors would have to prove that the suspect engaged in a "pattern of communication to a minor that includes explicit and detailed" descriptions of sexual activity or "excitement."
"The fact of the matter is with the rise of the internet and social media and all these different apps that has been a playground for these predators to go in and groom these young kids," the governor said. "This whole online stuff is a major, major cesspool and even the most diligent parent is not gonna be able to do it alone."

The NAIA Athletics voted to ban transgender Athletes From Female Competition
w00t w00t! 🥰🥳🎉🙌
Washington Examiner 4/9/24: NAIA’s new rules on transgender people in women’s sports rebuke the Left’s insanity
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, one of college sports’ governing bodies, announced this week that it would not allow male-bodied athletes to compete in women’s sports, pointing to the importance of “fair and safe competition for all student-athletes.” The decision is a welcome relief in a society that refuses to see sense on this topic.
The NAIA governs 249 smaller, mostly private colleges whose athletic programs would rank in the NCAA‘s Division 2 or 3 categories. Notably, the NAIA’s new rule on transgender participation comes after the NCAA declined to clarify or revise its own guidance on whether to allow transgender athletes to compete in women’s sports. As it stands, the NCAA mandates a sport-by-sport approach that depends largely on what other athletic governing bodies have already decided.
The NCAA’s refusal to issue clear rules on this is driven by cowardice. As the NAIA made clear this week, the question of transgender participation in women’s sports is not complicated. It’s actually quite simple. Should men who identify as women but still enjoy the physical and hormonal advantages of being men compete against comparably disadvantaged women? And should women be required to place themselves at risk in their private spaces and in sporting events to accommodate these men?
The answer to any person whose common sense hasn’t been pummeled into submission by the Left would, of course, be “no.”
That answer is also backed by legal precedent. And the NAIA’s ruling reflects this fact. “For us, we believed our first responsibility was to create fairness and competition in the NAIA. … We also think it aligns with the reasons Title IX was created. You’re allowed to have separate but equal opportunities for women to compete,” NAIA President Jim Carr explained.
Indeed, that is the very reason Title IX was passed — to ensure that women were granted privacy, safety, and fair competition, all of which are now being undermined by a radical ideology that cares only about its own power.
The NAIA took all of this into consideration as it debated how to deal with transgender athletes. According to the head of the NAIA Council of Presidents, Amy Novak, the governing body “spent nearly two years reviewing research, meeting with experts to better understand potential policy challenges, and obtaining feedback from multiple membership groups.” And all of the evidence pointed to one very simple solution: Men, no matter how they “identify,” cannot and should not be allowed to compete against women.
The result is a clear set of guidelines and expectations, approved in a unanimous vote by the NAIA’s Council of Presidents, that leaves no room for equivocating. Unlike the NCAA, for example, the NAIA’s standards do not make exceptions for male-bodied athletes who stop taking testosterone and reach a certain hormonal threshold. Men will not be allowed to compete against women — period. The rules also bar female athletes who start taking testosterone from competing in women’s sports.
This is an excellent step toward busting the Left’s gender insanity and an example bigger sports organizations should follow. Again, the question at the heart of this debate is quite simple: Do women have a right to safety and fair competition or not?

Florida Governor DeSantis Signed Bill to tackle retail theft, porch pirates and inciting looting
WooHoo! This is awesome news for Floridians. I wish California had a public safety oriented governor too. I can dream.
NBC 4/9/24: Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill that will increase penalties for retail theft throughout Florida and seeks to prevent "smash and grab" thefts and porch piracy.
DeSantis signed the bill at a news conference Tuesday at a Walgreen's in Stuart.
The bill,HB 549,allows law enforcement to impose tougher punishments for retail theft, porch piracy and inciting looting through social media.
"If you order something and come back home... the package is going to be there and if it's not, someone will have to pay for it," DeSantis said.
The bill reduces the minimum threshold amount for an offense of grand theft of the third degree.
Also included in the law:
• A third-degree felony, punishable up to 5 years in prison, if criminals commit retail theft with five or more individuals.
• A second-degree felony, punishable up to 15 years in prison, if criminals commit retail theft with five or more individuals and use social media to solicit others to participate in the theft.
• A first-degree felony, punishable up to 30 years in prison, if a criminal commits retail theft with a firearm or with two or more prior convictions of retail theft.
• The ability to charge a felony for multiple retail thefts occurring in the span of 120 days, which is an increase from 30 days.
DeSantis criticized laws in other states, such as California.

Fox5 4/8/24: LAS VEGAS, Nevada - FOX5 has learned the identities of the two victims and the suspect in a shooting at a Summerlin law firm.
On Monday morning, Las Vegas police and firefighters responded to the 10800 block of West Charleston Boulevard, near downtown Summerlin around 10:04 a.m. Police confirmed that two victims and a suspect died during the shooting.
The shooting broke out during a child custody deposition at Prince Law Group, located on Charleston Boulevard and Pavilion Center Drive, lawyer Robert Eglet told FOX5.
Joe Houston, a Las Vegas attorney, has been identified as the gunman, and allegedly shot two people before turning the gun on himself. Another source told FOX5 that Houston was “suffering from cancer” at the time of the shooting.

Joe Houston was representing his son, Dylan Houston, during the proceedings with his former daughter-in-law, Ashley Prince, who was represented by her new husband, Dennis Prince. Dennis and Ashley have an infant child together.

While the chain declared bankruptcy, there’s an effort underway to keep some of them from shutting down permanently.
A local man who knows the bargain store business well said that while the chain’s bankruptcy declaration will make things more difficult for him and the group of investors he’s gathered, it won’t stop them from working to find a way to keep stores in Southern California open.
Customers rush into a 99 Cents Only Store in Pico Rivera as they prepare for the chain’s closure.
The chain is set to close all 371 locations nationwide, but there's a glimmer of hope for 143 Southern California stores
“I said ‘okay let's see if I can put some people together to buy this chain,’” Mark Miller, CEO of Pick N’ Save Bargains, said.

“It was a treasure hunt, you never knew what you were going to find. Never, never. And you went there because you said I never know what I'm going to find and I can also find some good basic things,” Miller said.

Woman killed husband in Woodland Hills, then left 2 daughters on 405 WLA, then died in Redondo Beach
This is so sad. I wonder if she caught him abusing the girls. The 9yo was not his child. The 6 month old little girl was his child and she perished on the freeway that morning.
ABC 4/9/24: WOODLAND HILLS, California -- Thedeaths of a baby and her parentswho were found at three separate locations in Los Angeles County are being investigated as a murder-suicide that began when the woman allegedly stabbed her husband to death, Eyewitness News has learned.
The man found dead in Woodland Hills was identified Tuesday by the county medical examiner's office as 29-year-old Jaelen Chaney. The California Highway Patrol identified Danielle Cherakiyah Johnson as the suspect in Chaney's killing.
Neighbors said they heard a loud argument coming from a unit in the building in the middle of the night before the husband was stabbed to death. A 26-year-old woman who lives in the building next to the apartment says Monday morning, she saw a bloody scene.
"Their door was wide open, there was blood on the floor leading into their apartment, and then a trail of it in the hallway leading up to the elevator, and I saw some blood on the walls," she said.
Her father called 911.
"Called the police and told them that something was not right," he recalled. "And they told me, when I spoke to the EMT, to go in and check on the body. So I did. And he was deceased, he was facedown on the floor. And there was a lot of blood."
Authorities believe the woman drove away from the scene of the fatal stabbing with the couple's two daughters, a 6-month-old baby and a 9-year-old, damaging the apartment gate in the process.
Around 4:30 a.m., the mother and the two children were in a dark colored Porsche Cayenne, traveling northbound on the 405 Freeway in the Westchester area, when "the minors fell or were thrown out of the moving vehicle," the CHP said in a statement.

So I Had This Visitor Today At An Interesting Moment.
My cats were going nuts as I'm typing a transcript for you about tomorrow's eclipse on my Globalawareness101.org website. I looked up and see my cats trying to grab this thing that attached itself outside my window. I'm listening to this guy talk about locusts being unleashed and one comes to visit me at that very moment. This is so crazy. It's still there.
Grasshoppers are smaller than locusts. Regardless this is an interesting visitation and timing.
