Nothing much to see until the 3:40 mark. Backing my Gladiator down the hill I just cleared stumps from to get the stump grinder and saw. You can hear my surprise when a fly lands on the backup camera on the tailgate; it looks like its 2 inches long and is a very close up view.

It was a busy morning in 3 hours time I turned 23 small stumps into mulch and cut down one small Wild Cherry tree and cut it up.

I had planned to grind out more than 2 stumps today, but a case of bad luck and a broken Polaris Brutus changed my plans greatly, I'm thankful the machine failure wasn't a complete wasted day, and that a couple of stumps did get turned into wood chip mulch.

I had to go to the local Tractor Supply to get a 1 7/8 inch hitch ball for my drop hitch so I can pull my Stump Grinder out of the woods. After having b my Polaris Brutus broken down.

Stump grinder set up and grinding down the remainder of a Chestnut Oak stump 2-4inches below the surface. Only a little mishap when I forgot to use the key and turn on the cut off switch.

Since I don't have a short trailer wide enough to get this machine out I decided to disassemble the Brutus where it sits and see if I can roll it off the road to get past it and go get the stump grinder out instead.

Using my Gladiator to get all the stuff out of the Brutus to make it lighter to tow out of the woods to get fixed. At least that was the initial idea, that plan shifted and changed after much contemplation.

While going to get the dogs the Polaris Brutus suffered a broken trailing link or lower control arm, the steel broke, no rust or corrosion to be found, paint still intact, metal and weld failure under no load. when that arm broke it pulled the axle from the rear differential and damaged the left hand axle shaft at the differential side, Only items in the machine were lite maybe 150 lbs in the dump box and the stump grinder weighs about 300 lbs and hardly any tongue weight.

Cutting a small stump with a Stihl 461 then using a manual stump grinder to remove a the rest of the Wild Cherry 8 inch diameter stump.

Here I'm lifting a white oak log that is to heavy for me to move with out specialized equipment with hydraulic lifting power. This machine is a Polaris Brutus HD PTO side x side with bucket and grapple claw. It works well for moving loads of 450 lbs or less.

The bright orange staining is from iron-oxidizing bacteria found all over Pennsylvania anywhere there is mining and gas drilling activities. It is produced by iron ore or Iron nodules in the ground that ground water comes into contact with and the bacteria feeds on the iron particles in the water. Often you will see fuzzy mats of the bacteria growing until heavy rains wash it away downstream. Above this section of stream up where the ground plateaus there was a strip-mine decades ago. Today further up the hill on the saddle ridge is a Marcellus gas well and under where we walk are several horizontal gas well bore holes used for fracturing the Marcellus Shale Layer and releasing the gas trapped inside the rock fault lines.

A little further up into the tributary the sounds keep getting better.
