If I post this on YouTube it will be blocked globally because Netflix, which does have the right to protect Norm Macdonald has a Show and his never intended to be released rehearsal for his final standup gig before he died, thinks it owns Norm Macdonald Live, which was a Video Podcast Network program that ran for three seasons. Netflix is tyrannical with anything Norm Macdonald related so I am posting what few clips I have on Rumble where free speech lives.

Logan’s friend follows the runners to the ruins of Washington DC. The environment has been made to appear more rustic than it did in the film because I find it hard to believe that the outside world and trying live in it would be an easy thing when you’ve been pampered and indoctrinated within a type of dream, that’s become a nightmare. One probably wouldn’t be able to survive easily, and so to emphasize the environment you have a much more gritty earth tone on to the scenes that exist outside the city hence the three worlds of Logan‘s Run.

Box is the gatekeeper between worlds. He exists in a cold ice cave where he overseas the storage of food for the inner city. Box is a part of this dystopia and traveling through his lair is like crossing the River Styx and Box is the ferryman. A blue filter is used here to emphasize the world between the worlds.

Here on the journey back, Peter Ustinov, who plays the elderly son of two runners that escaped the city long ago, now accompanies Logan and his companion on a journey back to the city as proof you can live outside. There no one has ever seen a man older than 30. Note the rustic look I have enhanced for the world outside the dome and once we are back inside, note now how the inner city truly contrasts when compared.

Another glimpse into the dark side of the system.

Even the sophisticated technology that runs the city has lost itself into believing sanctuary is an actual place, hence the cold almost dead color tone contrasted with reds. The city is losing itself too.

In the film at the age of 30, citizens allow themselves to be slaughtered in a ritual where the audience cheers and chant “Renew!” The citizens are indoctrinated into believing if they are strong, they will be reincarnated into a new baby’s body. Hence this is Joe population control is handled by the cities A.I. Those who choose to seek sanctuary and run are hunted down by the Sandmen and out to sleep forever.

Based on work I had done on Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining and a scene from the remake of Susperia, a close friend requested I look into Logan’s Run. That is a film I actually remember seeing on the big screen when I was a child. The look of the futuristic buildings were copied by other 1970s brands. There are as I see it, three different worlds in Logan’s Run. There are the inner city, the Ivey lair of Box and the outside world. I wanted to make each place different so for the inner city, I changed to color timing through filters to give it a more artificial and deader like look with bursts of hot colors like red to contrast the environments. This first clip in the series is our first glimpse into this artificial environment.
