Penna från vikingatiden eller från järnåldern? Min svaghet är reservoarpennor. Magnus Svensson på Kafé Villa Vandra är en skicklig svarvare. Han svarvar olika sorters pennor. Försiktigt frågade jag om han hade någon reservoarpenna. Han gick fram till ett särskilt skåp och öppnade det som om han öppnade himlen själv. Ur skåpets djup hämtade han den ena vackra pennan efter den andra. Han presenterade en reservoarpenna med extra stor vördnad och delade historien, bakom den. Då förstod jag att mitt öde var beseglat, åtminstone när det gällde den pennan. Han berättade att arkeologer i Lund hade grävt fram tre brunnar tillverkade av ek. Dessa brunnar måste dateras. Alla tre prover visade på år 1049, det år ekarna hade fällts. En ek som blivit en brunn, måste vara av en betydande ålder. Eken har vuxit under den tidiga vikingatiden eller kanske till och med under järnåldern. Magnus' pennor är en perfekt julklapp, även till sig själv 🙂

Anno Domino 1182 Will I ever pass this way again? Will I die? I am on my way to a gathering. We threw out archbishop Absalon from his castle, two years ago. But Absalon continued to demand tenths of our harvests. Absalon was foster brother of the Danish king and was appointed as the archbishop of Scandinavia. His Bishop’s Seat was in Lund. Last year, we rose against him again outside of Helsingborg. This time the bishop was better prepared, and attacked the peasants with his cavallry. They killed 1000 men. They attacked us poorly armed peasants from behind. Now, in 1182, we will attempt to deal with Absalon again. The archbishop who loves the listen to both swords and psalms. Our gathering will be at Vitabäck (White brook) and we will march to Lund. Well, meeting Absalon’s mighty cavallry and the memories of the last battle, were very discouraging for the men.
