Ep. 33 Sometimes I feel guilty being the one to perform these acts of kindness. I am far from being able to fund this stuff myself and without your donations none of this would be possible. I get all the reward for your generosity and I hope by recording this day we can share some of this experience with you too. My apologies for camera work, much editing to protect privacy and well, I kinda suck at this. That said wow what a day. We started at Independent Grocers with 8x $250 GCs in the third visit to buy groceries for people. This brings our groceries totals up over 6 grand alone! Our next stop was Wal-Mart with 10x $100 GCs where we got followed by security but still managed to snag some great moments. Last but not least we stopped at BestBuy with 2x $500 GCs where my wife picked a great family and I happened upon a young couple brand new to Canada. That's a pretty nice welcome gift if you ask me! This was so special to share these continued experiences with my kids and I can't thank the Ubiqsmart.com ( @Ubiqsmart ) community for their constant support of our little idea to try and change the world. Episode 27: Today my daughter and I jumped in Veronica and headed north to Pemberton British Columbia. This little town is about 30 mins north of Whistler and we grabbed a hotel for the night. After a bit of exploring and settling in we decided to do up a picnic in the park close to our hotel. We were greeted by a passenger train and had one tasty steak and salad. Hey gang in this quick video I go into detail on an idea I have to fund some talented wearables creators and give back to the communities that support our project over the years. We are so humbled that people choose to believe in us and our cause which is to fund small #RandomActsOfKindness that just may change the world, one person at a time. So the gist is to fund two wearables, one representing Southern Light which is our neighborhood in Decentraland and one to honor the donations from the Ubiq community which has been very supportive of our ambitions. We will take the profit from that and fund two more creators and so on... The remaining profit will split evenly between acts of kindness and the creator themselves. Who knows maybe they will find the inspirations to fund a creator or two themselves! So get digging, learn about Ubiq and come visit Southern Light to gain some inspiration. I have a few videos showing the progress over time, boy has it changed. The Ubiq Discord will choose the winner for their wearable and DCL will choose Southern Light. Rather than deadlines I would like to have two to three entries per wearable if not more. This is gonna be fun I think, I am looking forward to your designs! Ep 23: On this adventure I stuck out of town about 1.5 hours north towards Hope, British Columbia. Fun Fact: They filmed Rambo 1 here. Anyway I actually stopped A few exits shy and went up a logging road to Silver Lake. Here you will find a 30 site Provincial campground where I just so happened to score a free spot for two nights. Day two had me driving for 3.5 hours to go get my kids for an unexpected second night! We get to meet Oxana and enjoy a tribute to Richardson! As a dad, hearing my son ask to stay another night after not wanting to leave the house is the icing on the cake. Take your kids camping folks, they need to unplug and throw rocks in a lake for a bit. Ep 21: Today I decided to continue my exploration of the Chilliwack Valley trail system with a hike to Lindeman Lake. This is a 20km loop trail connecting three lakes that I plan on camping on soon after a few scouting trips to see what I am getting into. This was a great hike that really anyone can do as you can see by how worn and wide it is. This kind of usage is now leading to park passes unfortunately. Ep 19: Today on Doing Stuff with Aaron I head out to the Chilliwack River Valley and hiked the Flora Lake trail. This was a 10km journey straight up the mountain to the Alpine level. I was trying to make it to the campsite but got turned around by the snow and my desire to stay safe as I was by myself and did not want to get into a sticky situation. So with my plan in place, a backpack full of gear and a lack of common sense I made my way up. Wow... totes worth it. I planned on a hike and cook as I brought a steak but in the end decided to skip the meal as it was pretty hot and I wasn't really hungry. Lots of cool view and some super cold streams to refill the water jugs... So much fun. Ep 18: I'm back! Missed a week there due to laziness and a bit of a let down. The big clean up I did in the forest led to some squatter moving their broken down RV into the spot I was restoring back to nature. Kind of bummed me out to be honest. So I decided to take care if my own backyard which I have really neglected this year. To busy in the mountains! Anyway, the garden is in its 4th season and I have grown many vegetables and berries back here. This episode brings an adventure past my usual camping spot in Chilliwack BC to a place called Boston bar trough Hope BC and Yale BC. Rich gold mining history in these parts if your into that stuff.
