Woman Films Emotional Moment Rescue Dog Learns To Love Human Touch
Imagine, if you will, living your entire life in a dirty pen through summer, through winter, through fall, through spring. You have little knowledge of the human race other than sometimes, they might throw over a bite of food for you, but most of the time, they don't bother. After years of living your hell, your angels have appeared only you do not know who these angels are. You are snared and placed into a crate ending up at a strange place where they poke you with needles, stick a probe up your butt, take your blood, remove your testicles and give you funny pills that upset your stomach. You are then picked up by a transport van and driven to your new unfamiliar temporary home where excited humans who seem like aliens greet you with love and compassion. Life seems to be getting better but you have no clue what love and compassion feels like so you are terrified and withdrawn.
This is where the story of your new life at the Dogs Deserve Better Good Newz Rehab Center in Smithfield, VA begins. We often show you our dogs when they are healed and ready for adoption. Rarely do you get a glimpse of what happens behind the scenes to get them to this point. Today, this person decided to share a very special moment with one of our newest residents, Bernard. She was forewarned by staff that my day was going to be met with great challenges.
Upon arrival, she met Bernard who was cowering and seemingly not interested in coming out to discover the new world where he now will call home. Instead of dragging him out of the kennel where he felt safe, we decided to remove the top so that she could have access. He immediately jumped out and hid behind another crate. She slowly inched over and touched him with my hand.
Eventually, he made his way back into the bottom of the crate. This is where we spent the next 45 minutes. This person decided to turn the camera on so that you all could witness the beginning stage of his recovery process. Her only goal for the day was to let him know that human touch was safe. She was honored and humbled when he moved toward my hand at the end. Baby steps....

Feral Dog Takes Two Years To Get Close To Human
Not all dogs rehabilitate at the same rate. Some feral dogs might take a year or two before they will trust you enough to get close. This is the case with Sheba.
Footage shows intimidated Shebra daring to get closer to her rescuer and take treats directly off of the knee of a staff member who she has known for almost two years. This might not seem like much but for the ones who dedicate their time, patience and love to her process, it is priceless and well worth it!
Reportedly, it took two years for this rescued feral dog to start trusting humans. Can you imagine the amount of time, dedication and patience it took for them to get this far with the scared feral dog? It is amazing that Sheba starts to rehabilitate and trust humans. Even though she took her time and it was a slow process, the results are heartwarming!
Sheba is a feral dog that was rescued and started her rehabilitation process at the animal rescue center. In the streets, she was weary of human touch until she started to get used to having humans around.
In addition, the trust and connection breakthrough with feral dogs often occurs at a different time, depending on the dog, but it sure is a magical moment to cherish! Today, shy Sheba knows that humans are not to be feared from and she dares to approach and get treats by making a simple touch. Knowing that there are animal shelters that take care for dogs and make sure they are successfully rehabilitated and some even adopted into loving families, warms our hearts!

Jealous Hound Protests Against Not Being The Center Of Attention
Have you heard the story of the jealous dog? Frankly, neither have we, although some breeds are actually famous for their jealous reactions. Some of those dogs won’t even let you pet a stuffed animal on a shelf somewhere, let alone another animal! Aren’t they enough for you? Well, this is one such dog.
This rescued walker hound cannot fathom why he isn't the center of attention, relentlessly barking at another dog currently in the spotlight. His caretakers cannot help but laugh about it!
If we talk about human jealousy, then by this word we most likely mean a certain conscious emotional reaction to the subject. In the case of dogs, this is a response, conditioned by certain actions of a person. That is, jealousy is a learned behavior and not the conscious choice of the dog.
People say that, over time, dogs start to resemble their owners, both in looks and in behavior. Whether it’s the animals that start imitating their humans, or the humans start to identify themselves with their dogs, it doesn’t matter, there are hundreds of videos online where dogs show human emotion, like this hound barking at another dog for stealing his limelight.
You probably noticed that quite often, when one of the dogs comes to the owner to get a dose of affection, the other one approaches too and wedges in between. It is believed that the dog "requires its share of affection". If the dog does this regularly, you can call it a jealous dog. Quite often, such a dog is jealous not only of the owner, but also of toys, and even a cozy armchair. In most cases, of the two dogs, one is noticeably more jealous than the other. Many zoologists would put the word "jealousy" in quotation marks on the grounds that such behavior, in their opinion, has little to do with human jealousy. I will not do this, and that's why.
When a dog is jealous of an owner or a toy, we are dealing with a typical case of unstable dominance-submission relationships between dogs. A jealous dog claims to be a leader, that is, a preferential right to enjoy certain goods, one of which is the owner's caress. But these claims are not recognized unconditionally, and they use any occasion to show: "I'm more important, you have to scratch my ear, this is my ball, I have the right to sleep in the chair." When relations are firmly established and the rights are properly distributed, the leader does not feel the need for constant self-affirmation. And he or she can be very condescending to subordinates, very often allowing them to take advantage of life’s benefits. And the subordinates use them with caution, not giving the leader reasons for displeasure. In short, as we said earlier, dog’s behavior imitates man’s. In people, jealousy is also a complement of insecurity in its right to possess. The more confident the person feels, the less he is prone to jealousy.
If you love dogs as much as we do, share this video on social media or tell us a story of your beloved four-legged pal in the comment section below. And remember: dogs rule!

Rescue Dogs Can’t Have Enough Of Former Keeper In This Heartwarming Reunion
You’ve probably heard the old saying, ‘dogs have no concept of time’. Some people believe that a dog can’t discern a minute from an hour, but this just isn’t true. Dogs simply remember differently than humans. If you’ve been gone for more than a day, expect a much happier reunion, than if you’d just stepped out for a couple hours.
Dogs are gifted creatures, able to catalog a myriad of scents and recognize faces. Imagine a situation where a former employee stops over for a visit at the Dogs Deserve Better rehab center. Upon his return, his dogs greet him as though he was absent for ages. This affection is a testament to the dogs’ incredible ability to recognize their master. Thanks to these canines’ olfactory memory, they remember scents long after they have been exposed to them, so they are able to associate him with his smell.
They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder. Since these dogs haven’t seen their master for a certain period of time, they display a real love in this heartwarming reunion. Their excitement is equal to the amount of time that his master spent away. They can’t have enough of him as they are all over him. The pooches jump on him, ecstatic to be in that blissful reunion. They hop around their former keeper like little bunnies hop around their mother and are so delighted of the mere sighting of him.
Dog’s love is undoubtedly true love. Dogs know how to cherish the person responsible for them and can show genuine fondness. These creatures certainly know how to express their gratitude, too and they do it in the most loving way possible.
Check out the reaction from Jada & Copper when they saw their old friend again!

Rescue dogs finally get to run free
Dogs Deserve Better is a rescue and rehabilitation facility located in Smithfield, VA. They focus on animals who are chained, penned, or tethered outside in the elements day in and day out. More often than not, these animals come to them unhealthy, unsocialized and traumatized. They are usually terrified and withdrawn, being that they have never experienced positive interactions with humans or other animals due to their isolated environments. It is their mission to teach them how to live, not just exist. Their favorite moments are when they take their "Freedom Run" in our Freedom Field. Sometimes they are unsure of what to do with so much space, but other times they take advantage of the opportunity to be free of inhibitions for the first time in their lives and they release the pent up zoomies.

Dog rescued from awful conditions loves agility course
Sadie is one of the most special dogs to reside at the Dogs Deserve Better Rehabilitation Facility in Smithfield, VA. She was found in a man made enclosure, built from solid cinder blocks. She could see nothing, but hear everything. A dogs sense of smell and sound are much more intense than ours; the world was going on around her and she was incapable of interacting with it at all. Isn't that enough to drive any creature insane?
Sadie's caretakers work with her in all the ways we know how and do their best to give her what she needs to grow and become the best version of herself. She will always be a little damaged by her past, but she finds so much joy in the world now. Her over excitable tendencies make her difficult at times, but they have come to find that giving her a job, like this homemade agility course, she is able to channel her energy (physically and mentally) properly. She is a beacon of light in a dark place, the world is her playground now and we would never try to change her.

Obedient Dog Helps With Nappy Changing By Fetching Diapers
An adorable video has emerged of a rescue dog helping his owner with diaper changing. The obedient pooch is seen helping owner change the dirty diapers of a baby by fetching a new clean diaper on command. Max is one helpful dog! Watch as he gets to work and lends owner a helping hand and assists in the diaper changing routine. Amazing!
Have a baby? Then you definitely need a dog like Max. Changing diapers is just the worst, but any chore is made much easier when you have a little helper around the house! Rescue dog Max helps his owners by fetching the diapers. He's so awesome! Just one more piece of evidence that dogs are wonderfully deserving of being part of our homes and families!
Footage shows the pooch sitting in the living room waiting for owner to give the command. The moment owner asks Max to fetch the diaper, the obedient pooch immediately stands up and approaches the owner with a clean diaper in his mouth! It will sure come in handy having such obedient pooch around the household when you take care of a baby! Cuteness overload!
Further proving that dogs are man's best friend, this clever canine knows exactly how to lend a helping hand to owner. Watch him happily fetch a clean diaper to owner. We wonder whether this pooch takes dirty diapers to trash as well?!
It is not often that we see our pets helping doing human chores or clean around the household. Watching this talented dog performing household chores, we wish we also had a pooch that would voluntarily help around the house!

Cheeky Old Dog Continuously Slam Dunks Ball Into A Water Bowl
What happens when a dog that has lived eight years on a chain plays with a squeaky ball for the first time? He figures out that he can fill it with water and then squirt it all over the place. Normally, we would reprimand this behavior, but honestly, he was having such a great time making such a huge mess that we didn't have the heart to stop him!
A hilarious video has emerged featuring a clumsy pooch continuously trying to fish a squeaky ball out of a water bowl, but repeatedly slam dunking it on purpose. Obviously, this frustrated pooch has poor reflexes and no skills and he won’t catch this ball no matter how much he tries.
Watch as this pooch hopelessly tries but to no avail. The ball slips away every time he tries to snatch it. He took many trial attempts at fetching the ball, each one of them ending in complete failure. Poor guy, he is desperately trying, but he has no luck. Is the squeaky ball too big to fit in his mouth, or are his calculations mistakenly wrong?
This hilarious footage presents the cheeky attempts of one frustrated pup at snatching a ball out of a water bowl, each of which is doomed to failure. Fortunately, owner filmed this amusing video of her not-so-graceful dog, playing with a ball while making a big mess on the floor.
It is no surprise that this old dog acts like a spoiled toddler, given he has been living on chain for eight years. Now, he tries to relive the childhood he never had, playing with balls and making a mess, while having the time of his life! Would you blame him!

Dog Seriously Injured in Boat Propellor Accident Returns to Thank Donors for Saving His Life
We had a very special guest at the center this morning. About a year ago, a family who had suffered tremendous loss after losing their father and having their mother fall ill, spent a weekend at a friend's lake house. There was a terrible boating accident and their beloved dog Ollie, was critically injured by the boat's propeller. The emergency vet bills exceeded $10,000. Losing this beloved family member was not an option. The troops rallied and many people shared the news that this family needed help. Through many caring strangers, the vet bills were paid and Ollie made a miraculous recovery. Today, we met Ollie in person as his human stopped by the center to thank all who cared and to pay it forward by making a donation to DDB. Our puppy Rhes was especially enamored with Ollie. He took him on a short walk to show him around the room! Enjoy!

Rounding Up Five Rescue Puppies Can Be Quite Challenging
This is the adorable moment when one person tries to round up five rescue puppies who are joyfully running around the yard! Good luck with that!
Footage shows five rescue puppies freely running around a big yard, without any worries! Their rescuers is trying to round up the puppies on the porch, but to no avail. Every pup is a story for himself, and they are all scattered around the big green yard, enjoying the sun!
Little puppies have unique needs in terms of exercising their freedom by running in large areas. These pups are embracing the taste of freedom as they are let loose to run around together in a large enclosure. You can see their obvious happiness as they enjoy time to exploring the nature and playing in the sun.
It is adorable how these pups tend to make a sport of getting dirty, playing in the yard! Watch as the furry balls run and go exploring around the yard, showing off in front of each other. They run in such unsynchronized manner, you might think that they are trying to run away from each other. But nope. It’s just their natural urge to enjoy the sun and have fun.
Have you ever tried to round up rescue puppies that are only eager to run around and have fun exploring the surroundings and playing with each other? If so, you must have had some well-applied tactic or a cue word that helped them obey and line up!
