Fr Mychal Judge O.F.M, was the first victim of the September 11th attacks in New York in 2001, he was 68 years of age, and Chaplain to the New York City Fire Department. His parents came from County Leitrim, Ireland, and his father's home-place was Keshcarrigan Co Leitrim. This video is from the Unveiling and dedication of a Memorial Peace Garden to Fr Mychal, it which was held on 11th September 2005. I do not claim Ownership of this video. Unveiling Of Patrick Gill Memorial Monument, at Drumsna, Co Leitrim, on Sunday 6th September 2020, to mark the 100th anniversary of his death, which happened on the 10th September 1920. I spoke to local man Peter Devine, who told me that Patrick at the time, was walking through the village of Drumsna to attend a wake in the area, and to pay his respects, to the family of a man who had died, he was walking with two ladies when he was shot in Drumsna. Peter also told me that this is the third Monument to be erected in Patrick's memory, this new Monument was erected to mark 100 years since Patrick's death. I spoke to one of the organizers Frank O' Dowd, who recalled the other monuments, and who said the previous monument needed to be updated. The build-up to the event was somewhat low key, because of Covid 19 restrictions, and to allow for social distancing, a nice sized crowd gathered to be there on the day, with masks, face shields, and social distancing all adhered to, the weather was nice, and the rain stayed away, with no need for any brollies or raincoats. A lone Piper from the Raheen Pipe Band was present on the day.

As a United fan all my life, this was a very special moment to speak to Mr. Ferguson. Thanks to Peter O' Doherty (Extra Time Dot IE) who filmed and uploaded this. The Irish side lost the match 7-1 to Manchester United, but the focus of the match was on the new stadium rather than the scoreline in this pre-season friendly.

It was lovely to hear this story about my father Bernard (also known as Bernie Joe Mulvihill) when making a documentary on Leitrim Gaels, told so well by Bernie Goldrick. I remember the day in question and would think it was most likely the early part of 1997, as my Dad died in August 1997.

I spoke to Pat Flynn who talked to me about Letterfine Creamery near Keshcarrigan, Co Leitrim. Growing up not far from Keshcarrigan, I remember passing the location many times traveling in the car with the family, and all I ever remembered in the location was a forest, perhaps your like me and would like to know more about it, or maybe your remember it, and would like to hear some stories from that time, I hope you enjoy this chat with Pat.

John Joe Farrell was working at the time when The Big Snow or Blizzard happened in 1947, John Joe recalls memories of The Narrow-gauge at the time, and also recalls how high the snow was in places, and what they did at the time to clear areas.

Noel McPartland talking to Mike Mulvihill reads a poem about Larrys Shoe Shop, I remember as a youngster going into the shop with my parents like it was only yesterday, and as I type this, I can hear his voice in my head, wonderful memories, one thing I remember was all the shoes, and wondering how did he find everything, but one thing for sure, if you went in to collect a pair of shoes, Larry knew exactly where they were in the shop.

The Drumshanbo Dance Band was a very popular band in the area, and were also known as The MacGowan Band.

The Royal Showband also known as The Woods Band, were around before the other famous Royal Showband, which starred Brendan Bowyer, this Royal Showband, came from Drumshanbo, Co Leitrim

I recorded Stephen Flynn singing this song The Slopes of Selton hill, which was written by Michael Whelan from Aughvas Co Leitrim. The song features on the documentary my documentary on the ambush at Selton hill, Co Leitrim on March 11th 1921, which I have recorded in advance of the Selton hill centenary in 2021.

Hubert McPartland was a Radio Dealer at a time when Radio was still only catching on, listen to Noel’s early memories of Radio when growing up in Drumshanbo Co Leitrim.
