Covid shots can be booked by anybody over the age of 18 starting tomorrow
.Everyone over the age of 18 will be able to book their coronavirus vaccination appointments from tomorrow.
The health secretary confirmed that all remaining adults will be able to book their jabs from Friday, with the NHS set to contact those aged between 18 and 20.
Speaking at the NHS Confederation conference today, Matt Hancock said a first dose has been given to four out of five adults.
It comes after the latest figures from Imperial College London’s React study show the number of cases among those aged between 18 and 24 – who are still mostly unvaccinated – are five times higher than among the over-65s.

Boris wants to step down as Prime Minister because it's like dragging a plane down a runway.
The Tory leader apparently sees the role as ‘too much like hard work’ and he’s keen to get back his first love of writing.
Fresh speculation has emerged about the PM’s future, following revelations by his ex-advisor Dominic Cummings yesterday.
Mr Cummings alleged his former boss doesn’t want to go ‘on and on’ in the role and may quit in five years, even if he wins the next election.
A source told the paper that the PM said: ‘This job is too much like hard work. It’s like pulling a giant 747 down the runway with a harness on your back. Every morning you get up and have to start pulling.
‘I do not want to go on and on like Thatcher and Blair. I want to get through this Parliament, win again and then head off soon afterwards.
‘I can’t wait till I can go back to writing, have fun and make money.

Student nearly died from flesh-eating infection by not cleaning insulin pump
Student nearly died from flesh-eating infection by not cleaning insulin pump
Warning: Graphic images
A woman who did not clean her insulin pump as advised contracted a fungus that put her in a coma for a month and even killed her temporarily.
Carolina Bowen, 20, from South Carolina, has type one diabetes and did not wipe her insulin pump with an alcohol swab. She was taken to hospital with Rhizopus oryzae infection – a deadly fungus typically found in dirt and decaying matter.
She spent September last year in a medically induced coma, endured five surgeries and even died during one of them.
She has lost most function in her arm and her muscles to atrophy after her nerves in her armpit and shoulder down to her elbow were cut out.
‘I had an amazing team of doctors and surgeons who pulled together and saved my life because it was a race against the clock.’
The College of Charleston Sociology major insists the infection was her fault, for not cleaning her pump properly, as opposed to an issue with the pump.
When she was admitted to hospital she was suffering from septic shock, organ failure and flesh-eating Necrotizing fasciitis (NF) that was developing in her left arm.
Doctors really didn’t think I was going to pull through because they hadn’t seen this before,’ she said.
She did in fact die during one of her five surgeries and said she ‘very much’ remembers it bringing her a new appreciation for life and her health.
She said: ‘I remember a door in front of me and a full moon illuminating it with water on the ground.
‘Death was speaking to me and it was empathetic and telling me there was no shame in giving up.
‘At first I was like “I’m done” but then I saw my life flash by all at once and I backed out of it.’
The infection got so bad that doctors seriously considered amputating Carolina’s arm at her shoulder.
But they were able to save her arm with debridement surgeries, in which chunks of the infected flesh are removed.
The doctor started irrigating the wound with anti-fungal because the I.V. anti-fungals weren’t working for me. Somehow it worked. But the recovery was really rough,’ said Carolina.
When she got out of hospital she took medical leave from her studies to heal and ‘relearn how to do a lot of things’ as she was dominant on her left side and did not use her right arm often.
Carolina refused skin grafts and decided to let her wound close without them because she did not want to have more surgery.
She said: ‘I opted to have no skin grafts because I did die during one of my surgeries, so I really didn’t want anymore surgical intervention.
‘I’ve had this wound for about a year and three months and it’s almost closed up all the way.’
After just over a year Carolina said that her kidneys and respiratory system has healed with her left arm being the only remaining issue.
She said: ‘I was kind of on a destructive path before this I didn’t care that much about my health.
‘Dying really does remind you of your own mortality that was a major takeaway for me and learning to appreciate the small things.’

BREAKING:Abandoned blind puppy found wandering in Hyde Park gets a new home
Three-month-old Oliver was found wandering in Hyde Park and when he was taken to Battersea’s rehoming centre, staff realised he was completely blind.
Although they can’t know for sure, staff suspected the Rottweiler puppy’s sight problems may have been why he was left there.
Steve Craddock, Centre Manager at Battersea said: ‘We’ll never know the real reason why young Oliver was abandoned, but it may have been because being blind would make it harder for a breeder to sell him to new owners.’
Thankfully despite having a rough start in his short life he has now found himself a happy home in south-east London with new owner Suzanne and will now spend his first Christmas surrounded by a loving family.
Despite not being able to see, Oliver has learned how to get around his new home and loves to bring his owner his food bowl when he’s hungry, gaining him the nickname Oliver Twist. Suzanne said: ‘Although Oliver is blind, he’s such a confident boy! He’s now fully settled, and with the help of his new big sister, Izzy, it took him no time at all to happily find his way around his new home.
‘He’s really bonded with Izzy, and the two now spend all of their time together; they love to go on country walks together and then have a snuggle in the evening. They’re the best of friends! He’s such a big character and he really goes to show that while rescue dogs aren’t always perfect, they are definitely worth it.’
Because of his sight loss, Oliver’s other senses are heightened and he finds other ways to understand the word around him.
Although dogs like Oliver might need a little extra help, Steve urges those who are struggling with a puppy for whatever reason, to bring it to their local rescue, rather than just abandoning it. He added: ‘Dogs are amazing animals, and blind dogs are often very misunderstood.
‘Although they may not be able to see, they can enjoy the world in different ways and will use their sense of smell to explore the world around them. Blind dogs are also very quick to map new environments and so can easily adjust to a home setting. We’d always urge anyone with a puppy that they can no longer look after to bring them into a rescue centre like Battersea. This way, they’ll be safe and will have the best chance of finding the perfect home, just like Oliver has done with Suzanne. There’s never any excuse for abandoning a helpless animal – rescues are here to help.’

Hundreds of dogs face icy death in Bulgaria after Eurotunnel imposes travel ban
Hundreds of dogs face a cruel death on Bulgaria’s streets after Eurotunnel imposed a ban on groups of animals being taken across the Channel from France. The strays face being shot and poisoned, following the restriction on more than five pets being transported into the UK at once. The Street Hearts Bulgaria rescue programme has 40 dogs – which were due to be adopted by owners in the UK – that are now left in limbo. Eurotunnel Le Shuttle announced the move with immediate effect on Thursday, apparently in response to illegal puppy smuggling, leading to an outcry from animal rescue groups. Exceptions have been included for ‘Defra-approved transport’ and for groups with business accounts, but confusion surrounds trips from Calais.

Hairdresser ‘saves man’s life’ after spotting cancerous lump behind his ear
A family has paid tribute to a persistent hairdresser who may have saved their father’s life.
When James Mackenzie, 82, went for his regular trim, his hairdresser Kerrin Taylor noticed a lump behind his ear.
She suggested he get it checked out, but fearing he would not, she contacted a family friend who told Mr Mackenzie’s daughter.
That led to a GP appointment and a referral to a specialist, who confirmed the lump was a basal cell carcinoma.
The widower is due to have it removed later this month.
His daughter, Clare Peevers, said: ‘I had never met Kerrin before but I knew her name because she used to cut my mum’s hair.
‘I knew she was very nice to my father when my mother died and gave him his first haircut for free because I think he must have walked in looking a bit lost.
My mother always cut his hair and I don’t think he had ever been to a hairdresser.’
Mrs Peevers said her dad went to the Four Market Street Hair Salon in Wotton-under-Edge, Gloucestershire, and admitted to Miss Taylor that the lump had been bothering him.
She added: ‘She said that wasn’t good and said he needed to see a doctor about it and he said “Yes, yes, yes” – typical man.
‘He didn’t say anything to me about it and she just thought he wasn’t going to do anything about it. I think she could tell from his reaction.’
Miss Taylor then spoke to Graham Archer, whose hair she also cuts, and he told Mrs Peevers.
‘I don’t know how she knew they were connected but somehow she had worked out he knew my father and told him,’ Mrs Peevers said.
She added: ‘I think this is my way of saying thank you to Kerrin and showing how they look after their customers.’

Woman only found out she died during boob op weeks later.
A woman who flew to Turkey for a cut-price boob job later discovered she’d ‘died’ and been resuscitated during the procedure – although nobody involved told her.
Lisa MacDonald, 47, had paid £4,300 for a ‘mummy makeover’, which included a boob lift, implants and liposuction, plus flights and a week’s stay at a hotel in Istanbul. She arrived in Turkey with her sister Sacha, 41, who paid £5,200 for the same procedures, plus a tummy tuck.
They had found the Avrupamed clinic on Instagram, and before flying out they chatted to former clients who strongly recommended the surgeons. These later turned out to be fake accounts.
Lisa and Sacha were then stunned to arrive at a ‘Third World’ clinic that was ‘cold and dark’, with the floor covered in sheets. Lisa said the bed looked like it had been ‘cobbled together from planks of wood’, and she claimed was tied down with some ‘old rope’ during the operation.
She told The Sun: ‘It was scary but we’d paid so felt like we had to go through with it. When I came round, I was in agony. My chest was incredibly painful and I was struggling to breathe.
They put us in a little room and just left us there. We had no pain relief, no consultation, not even basic fluids. I couldn’t even get off the bed so I was having to go to the toilet into a towel.
‘I was throwing up but no one came to clean up. I believed I was going to die. Little did I know that I already had.’
After the procedure, medics told Lisa her pain was ‘normal’. The sisters then FaceTimed their mum, a hospital worker, and she connected them with other staff, who advised them to get home as soon as possible.
Three weeks later, after she arrived back in the UK, Lisa collapsed at home in Maidenhead, Berks, and was told at Wexham Park Hospital she had contracted sepsis.
Doctors also discovered her ribs were ‘completely fractured’, from where she had been given CPR after ‘dying’ during the surgery. They told her she had just 12 hours to live unless her implants were removed.
