Rescue of Kariong Cockatoo
Rescue of Kariong Cockatoo
Kariong on the NSW Central Coast with a juvenile sulphur-crested cockatoo pinned 25 metres up a tree by fishing line caught on its leg. It's parents kept it alive while it dangled helplessly in the heat and wind for more than a day. The height and difficulty of access foiled attempts by Fire & Rescue NSW to find a way to the bird.
Rescue came from two local businesses, Waters Crane Services and Agtree Services, at the request of animal rescue group WIRES. Waters Cranes kindly offered up a 55 tonne crane to retrieve the exhausted bird, and Agtree proved invaluable with their assistance and bird-wrangling skills. The cockatoo was whisked away by a WIRES specialist volunteer to Somersby Animal Hospital to be treated prior to rehabilitation and release.

Kitten Farm Rescue - 118 Ragdoll cats seized from cat breeder
118 Ragdoll cats seized from cat breeder
A 66 year old woman was today convicted in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on nine counts of ill-treatment of an animal and one count of failing to comply with the South Australian Standards and Guidelines for Breeding and Trading Companion Animals.
The charges relate to 118 Ragdoll cats seized by RSPCA South Australia inspectors from a Lewiston property on 27 May 2020.
All the cats have now been surrendered into RSPCA South Australia's care. Most have been rehomed, but about 50 are still under veterinary care or in foster care. Many of the cats still in RSPCA South Australia's care have behavioural issues.
Magistrate Chin imposed a six-month prison sentence, suspended on a two-year good behaviour bond. The defendant was prohibited from acquiring any further animals, but permitted to retain ownership of three cats. Their ongoing care is to be monitored by RSPCA South Australia inspectors.

Sheeps head butting each other
Sheeps head butting each other
Traditionally, males fight each other for status, mates, and territory.
One of the most iconic head-to-heads is the actual headbutting competition seen between two rams.
Young male lambs will practice the technique in play with each other, coupled with some challenging dance moves.
Butting isn’t strictly reserved for male sheep, though. Ewes do it, too. They’ll undergo this physical competition as a way to assert dominance within their ranks.

Wild Boar in forest mud
Wild Boar in forest mud
Fun facts : Why wild boar 🐗 or pigs likes mud?
Pigs or Wild boar have very few sweat glands, and the ones they do have don't work very well.
As a result, pigs or Wild boar can't sweat like we do. So what's a pig or Wild boar to do when it gets hot?
You guessed it: wallow in the mud! Rolling around in the mud helps to keep pigs or Wild boar from overheating when it gets too hot outside.
Mud, however, tends to keep pigs or Wild boar cooler longer because the water in mud evaporates more slowly than pure water.
Just because pigs or Wild boar like to roll in mud, don't assume that they're dirty animals. To the contrary, pigs or Wild boar tend to be very clean animals.
To help protect their skin from sunburn, pigs use mud as a form of sunscreen. When mud dries on their skin, it forms a barrier against the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays.
A good thick layer of mud also helps to protect pigs or Wild boar from insects. Flies, parasites, and biting insects are often drawn to the areas where pigs live since there is often food nearby. Mud helps to keep harmful insects away from pigs' sensitive skin.
Researchers even suggest that rolling around in the mud simply makes pigs feel good and wallowing is a sign of well being!

Rescue of Seriously Injured Loggerhead Sea Turtle
Rescue of Seriously Injured Loggerhead Sea Turtle 🐢
We are thankful to MyFWC Florida Fish and Wildlife team and officers for rescue and saving life of Loggerhead Sea Turtle.
Here is the firsthand account of how Public Information Officer Jorge Pino helped rescue a seriously injured loggerhead sea turtle: "I received a call that there was a distressed turtle in Miami. A concerned homeowner reported that there was a lethargic turtle in the canal behind her house. After speaking with the citizen I immediately contacted Officer Dionis Delgado, who was on water patrol, and asked him to meet me at the location. Once we were both on scene we saw the turtle listing to one side clearly in need of help. After several attempts failed to secure the loggerhead, we used a pole to gently guide her towards the vessel. Then we were able to reach down and carefully pull her into the patrol boat. It was not until that point that we realized the severity of the injuries. The turtle's shell was cracked and it was missing its front right flipper, so we contacted a sea turtle biologist who instructed us to take the turtle to the Miami Seaquarium. Before we left, the homeowner kindly supplied us with a towel and a bucket so that we could pour water on the turtle to make her more comfortable during the twenty minute boat ride. We arrived at the Miami Seaquarium and turned the turtle over to the care of their veterinarian. The initial assessment is that the turtle should survive. We are lucky that we were able to rescue the loggerhead when we did or this turtle may not have made it. She was so lethargic that her body and shell were covered in barnacles. If the turtle doesn't survive, it certainly won't be for lack of trying. We did everything we could to save her. We are very grateful that the homeowner reported the injured turtle to our agency so we could get her the help she needed to survive."

Rescue of deer from the ditch
Rescue of deer from the ditch
This incident was happened in Montana building a new house. Deer falled in ditch dug for waterline from house to well. The trenching machine dug a trench 10 inches wide and 7 feet deep and 300 feet long.
Property Owner: The men walked up the steep hill and saw a whitetail deer hanging by its shoulders in the trench. The deer had fallen into the trench. The deer's feet did not reach the bottom. The man could see a red mark on one of the deer's hind legs where it had tried to get out, but rubbed it on rocks in the side of the trench. The deer was not moving any of its legs. It would only move its head. The man was concerned that the deer might have also injured its back or was hypothermic. He decided to secure the deer to a nearby tree, remove the deer from the trench, and assess any injuries.
The man got some rope, a lifting strap and a camera from the house. He filmed the carpenter tie the deer to a small tree, pulling it from the trench. The deer was wedged. He attempted to pull it out up the hill, but the deer weighed 150 lbs and was facing the wrong way to pull uphill. He did the best he could and eventually got the deer out of the trench.
As you can see in the video, the deer became very active. The leg was not broken, and if there was hypothermia, it left as the deer warmed up as it safely struggled. When the deer tired, the landowner was able to easily take the deer down, have pictures taken and released the buck.
The deer was photographed while feeding the next day and for days afterward on a trail camera. The red mark was on the hind leg where the fur was worn off by rocks in the trench, identifying it. A month later, the deer shed one antler on the farm road by the house. On morning, he shed the other, only feet from the first one.
About Jake: He had been socialized with deer from when he was a pup. While the owner sprayed weeds, fawns were occasionally discovered and Jake was allowed to sniff them and learn what they were. He learned that deer were not to be chased. As he grew older, Jake learned that deer were part of his domain and he and the deer maintained a truce. Jake would lie on the porch of the house while deer came out to feed in a hay field. The deer would feed to within 50 yards from Jake, and they would each just watch each other. While bird hunting, when a deer was jumped, Jake would run with the deer for about 50 feet before returning to the hunt. 4 years after this video was made, Jake died of cancer and is just watch each other. While bird hunting, when a deer was jumped, Jake would run with the deer for about 50 feet before returning to the hunt. 4 years after this video was made, Jake died of cancer and is buried overlooking the site where he found this buck. That would be the only time Jake ever got that close to an adult, live deer.

Rescuing White Tail Buck Trapped in a Fence
Rescuing White Tail Buck Trapped in a Fence
A five month old whitetail buck is spotted trapped in a fence. Tools are grabbed and rushed to hopefully help. It doesn't look good. The barbwire has cut to the bone. The wire is so tight that a crowbar won't fit. A screwdriver is used. The 45 lb buck fawn is released. After running a few yards and gaining balance, the fawn runs away with no limp. A couple of days later, the fawn is spotted with a slight limp, and the cut quickly healing. The fence was tightened, and a "stay" wire used to keep the barb wire from being able to twist together again along the entire fence.

A warning - some of the graphic in this video may be disturbing to some viewers. Viewer discretion is advised.
Birds caused severe injuries when people don't properly dispose of their garbage. Plastic, dental floss, string, thread - they're all used by birds when they're making their nests. The results can be catastrophic to the nestlings.

Puppet feeds to great horned owlet - Survival Skill and assimilating With it's spices
Puppet feeds to great horned owlet - Survival Skill and assimilating With it's spices
A great horned owl puppet is an important tool Salthaven team are using to help feed owlet that was blown out of his nest high up in a pine tree. If the owlet imprints on humans, it has a much harder time learning survival skills or assimilating with its species. The puppet helps keep that from happening.
An animal learns what species it is by imprinting, but birds don't automatically know that when they hatch. They have to visually imprint on their parents to identify with their species.
Normally this little guy has quite a good appetite, although he's being a little fussy here.
