Crazy weather day over southeast Wyoming

Taken from Cheyenne, Wyoming this storm was about 75 miles away over Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

After clouds disappointed viewing the Lunar Eclipse, I was still able to capture the change in landscape illumination as the moon when from full to 3% lit. However, at dawn, lenticular clouds formed and covered the entire sky for 6 hours. This short clip highlights this event in time lapse and still images.

Using Fujifilm X-T3, GoPro 10, and iPhone 11 Pro Max, I documented a brief fire sky, lenticular and mountain wave clouds, and winds exceeding 40 mph throughout the day.

Not every thunderstorm is the same. Sometimes, developing storms need to create their own environment to enhance convection. In his time lapse clip taken over 2 hours, towering cumulus eventually broke through a layer of warm dry air and exploded into cumulonimbus clouds. The early anvils looked impressive but weren't producing rain or lightning. However, by the end of the clip, thunderheads marked the clear transition into active storms.
