Last of my Kind Perfecto Review with Tommy Z
https://www.cigarpage.com/tommy-z-s-stick-picks.html
Last of My Kind from Nicaragua hits the palate like a velvet JDAM. Around here at CP HQ, we smoke new blends all the time – samples and existing brands both big and small, you name it, on the regular. There’s a lot of average stuff. Some are ho-hum or even pretty good, and some are awful, but every now and then there’s something pretty special. This blend from Raymond Pages out of Esteli is one of those special ones.
Last of My Kind is a full-bodied, robust, complex cigar brimming with leather flavors, there is no doubt. But that is said of many cigars. This one is hard to do justice because it has layers upon layers of flavor and more complexity than most. The wrapper is perfect: oily, Habano, dark, toothy. Firm throughout, the cold draw brings notes of raisins and coffee. Toasting it delivers a razor-sharp burn line and very white, firm ash that holds firm. Flavor wise there is ample sweetness up front with a rich, full coating of smoke, cocoa, and molasses. As you proceed here comes the richness and complexity, with notes of leather, rye, cinnamon with a nice barnyard finish and copious amounts of smoke. In the final third it’s earthy and bready with an underlying, lingering spiciness. On one hand it may be the Man’s Man of the Man’s Man Cigar of the Year. In the cigar arms race to produce full-bodied blends enough to sprout new chest hairs or burn them off this is nothing new.
But Last of My Kind is a bit of a different breed. Full? Yes. Spicy? No doubt. But it’s well-balanced and refined which makes this the ultimate palate-pleasing cigar experience all the way to the nub. The Habano wrapper is a beautiful deep brown, toothy and oily while the fillers from Ometepe, Condega and Esteli deliver the goods. Construction is perfect, like all of Raymond’s blends. Heavy in the hand, solid and well-rolled from cap to foot. The burn is razor sharp and brings copious plumes of smoke that’ll have you communicating with the next county by smoke signals alone. This is the cigar equivalent of a 48-oz Porterhouse.
Our staff of cigar nuts compares Last of My Kind favorably toMan O War Ruination, AJ Fernandez New World Dorado, and Plasencia Alma Fuerte in terms of cost and flavor profile.

Record Bond Perfecto Review with Tommy Z
https://www.cigarpage.com/tommy-z-s-stick-picks.html
Record Bond is a beauty in its own right and then some. The wrapper is a gorgeous, oily Ecuador Habano leaf with lovely sheen and ample tooth, combined with a Condega binder and long-fillers from Pennsylvania, Condega, and Esteli. Out of the gate it's on the full side with nice nicotine power, then mellows as it burns delivering notes of leather, cedar, chocolate, earth, and a slight sweetness. The thick white ash holds firm like a champ.
Our staff of cigar nuts compares Record Bond favorably to Diesel, Oliva Serie V, Flor de las Antillas, and Charter Oak Habano in terms of cost and flavor profile.

Record Bond Edicion Limitada & Basil Hayden Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey | Cigar Pairing
https://www.cigarpage.com/record-bond-edicion-limitada.html
You and I know each other pretty well by now wouldn't you say, lads? So believe me me when I say this is a pound-for-pound stud of a cigar. Both Record Bond Original and the new this-just-in Edicion Limitada hail from the talented hands of Raymond Pages in Esteli, Nicaragua. Record Bond Edicion Limitada is stunningly gorgeous, dark Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper with nice tooth and well-balanced rich, spicy-sweet, peaty flavors, notes of warm baked bread and toast with a smooth yet robust, full-bodied profile.
Our staff of cigar nuts compares Record Bond Ed. Limitada favorably to CAO Nicaragua, La Flor Dominicana Ligero, and Liga Privada No. 9 in terms of cost and flavor profile.

Joya de Nicaragua Cuatro Cinco & Bird Gang Vodka | Cigar Pairing
https://www.cigarpage.com/joya-de-nicaragua-cuatro-cinco.html
A masterpiece in cigar blending to celebrate Joya de Nicaragua's 45th Anniversary. Crafted in Esteli, this Nicaraguan puro contains limited edition 5-year-aged ligero long leaves hidden beneath a Nicaraguan binder and an oily Nicaraguan wrapper from Jalapa. In addition, the filler tobaccos were aged in oak barrels for more than a year to give them a deliciously unique character. Hearty, bold and complex with notes of pepper, earth, nuts and a unique campfire character from the oak barrels, this is a must try! Box-pressed.

Southern Draw 300 Hands Maduro & Coffee | Cigar Pairing
The Southern Draw 300 Hands Maduro is made in Nicaragua with Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco for fillers, an Indonesian binder, and a Nicaraguan Maduro wrapper. 300 Hands Maduro has notes of chocolate and cedar, medium to full in strength.
Robert and his wife Sharon give 25% of the profits from all 300 Hands sales to their charity project. Padilla San Andres Review with Tommy Z
www.cigarpage.com/tommy-z-s-stick-picks.html
You've got to hand it to Ernesto Padilla. He's got a tremendous eye, great palate, and a genuinely interesting personal story. His father was a famous Cuban poet and friend of Ernest Hemingway - so cigar heritage, history, and tradition is coursing through his veins. Many of his blends are up there with the best, and this no-brainer box deal is the perfect opp to check them out.
The sultry Padilla San Andres brings some signature Cuban features including a triple cap finish and rolled in classic entubado style. Padilla San Andres is meticulously constructed with a gorgeous, dark and oily Maduro wrapper. Combustion is on-point, with an even burn, thick white ash you have to knock off, and smooth draw. The San Andres Maduro wrapper is complemented with a blend of Nicaraguan long fillers. You can expect potent notes of chocolate, earth, cedar, and leather, with a unique herbal, or tea-like, finish. This medium to full-bodied blend punches well above its weight in the flavor and quality department, ranking as one of Padilla's finest blends - and finest values.

Padilla Series 68 Golden Bear Review with Tommy Z
www.cigarpage.com/tommy-z-s-stick-picks.html
Padilla Serie 1968 was the cigar that put Ernesto Padilla on the map, with the Padilla Serie 1968 Original receiving a 93 rating from Cigar Aficionado. 1968 is significant to Padilla, the year Ernesto's father Heberto Padilla - renowned Cuban poet, cigar lover, and friend of Ernest Hemingway - was arrested and imprisoned for criticizing the Castro regime. The cigars are one of his finest, hailing from the Raices Cubanas factory in Honduras. Padilla Serie 1968 is also available in Padilla Series 68 Original and Padilla Series 68 Black Bear
Series '68 Golden Bear: lovely shade grown wrappers on the outside. Inside, a smooth concoction of aged Honduran long-fillers. Together these components create a easy smoking, subtle but stunning smoking experience. Sweet grass, graham cracker, and roasted nuts over a bready backbone. Medium.

Buena Vista Edicion Limitada & Gurkha Bourbon | Cigar Pairing
Raymond Pages is quietly pumping out remarkably good blends - the best young cigar maker we've seen in years. Raymond took over the Buena Vista brand last year and what he's created is a sight to behold. The gorgeous Habano wrappers are a lovely shade of medium to dark brown with ample oils and tooth. Nice draw with slight resistance, this slow-burning smoke has a perfect burn line, wonderful aroma and a thick, chonky white ash that holds like a champ. Buena Vista brings a nice cedary component, subtle pepper and that typical Raymond spice that I can't get enough of. But it also has an underlying sweetness that takes it up a notch in the complexity department. Strength is medium if not medium-full. Spend some time with this one, all its flavors are bright and pronounced which make for an interesting and highly enjoyable smoke.
