Nimrod, The Tower of Babel, demonic possession, and Genesis 6 | Demonology & Angelology | IGM Ep 4 with host Chris Ulery
So we’ve all heard of the Tower of Babel, but if we’re being honest most of us don’t really understand why God wanted to stop the Tower of Babel? What’s so bad about building a tower to Heaven? And was Nimrod (the guy believed to have led the people constructing the tower of Babel) a good guy or a bad guy? Where do demons come from? Are demons different from fallen angels? All of these are interesting questions, and even more interesting is that they all relate to the debate we’ve been having on this channel about the Nephilim, Gibborim, and the Sons of God in Genesis 6. Want to know how they’re all connected? Stay tuned to find out!

Nephilim in the Bible | Rephaim Giants in the Bible Verses
Is God Mean? Episode 3 with host Chris Ulery
There is an ancient theory that fallen angels married human women to produce offspring known as the Nephilim. The theory assumes that Satan orchestrated this in order to contaminate the human bloodline and prevent the coming of the Messiah through the seed of a woman as prophesied in Genesis 3. Some believe this angelic rebellion is what we see documented in Genesis 6 with the marriage of the “Sons of God” to the daughters of man. Many speculate this unholy union led to hybrid offspring (some believe to be the Nephilim) that became the race of giants in the earth. They say this is where Biblical characters like Goliath came from. Others believe that the Nephilim are the ones who built the ancient wonders of the world like the pyramids, and some even believe that the Nephilim are linked to alien encounters. Is any of this true? Does the Bible really document half angel/half human hybrids, or were they just humans? Or something else entirely? Are they still here? If they’re gone, could they come back? More importantly, what does any of this have to do with God’s harsh actions in the Old Testament?

Is God Mean? Understanding God's Actions in the Old Testament
Episode 2
Did you know that some people believe the Bible says in Genesis 6 that fallen angels had sex with human women and produced offspring with them? Some people believe this hybrid offspring was the mysterious Nephilim mentioned in the Bible. They believe that spirit beings were somehow able to impregnate physical, fleshly bodies. Is this really possible? Does the BIble actually have anything to say about a hybrid race? Were the "sons of God" really fallen angels? And more importantly, what does any of this have to do with God’s harsh actions in the Old Testament?
Host Chris Ulery answers all of those questions and more in part 2 of "Is God Mean? Understanding God's Actions in the Old Testament"

Old Testament vs New Testament God | Is God Mean? | Ep. 1
Old Testament vs New Testament God
Is God Mean? Understanding God's Actions in the Old Testament
Episode 1
Deconstruction of faith has become somewhat of a buzzword in our culture as we have seen famous christian authors, famous pastors, and famous worship leaders all come out to publicly renounce their faith. One of things nearly all of them attribute to being a cause in their changing beliefs is a seeming inconsistency between the Old Testament and the New Testament. They claim to see a loving and compassionate God in the New Testament, and a harsh and vengeful God in the Old Testament. This seeming inconsistency leads them to believe that the scriptures are flawed and errant, and therefore must not be divine; which ultimately, leads to them turning away from their faith. But does the Bible actually present two different versions of God? Or does an honest investigation into the Scriptures reveal that God has always been the same? That’s what we’re exploring today, and throughout this entire series.
Richard Dawkins is famously quoted as saying, ”The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser, a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”
Unfortunately, you can see from this quote there is a an idea floating around out there that Old Testament God was mean. And, I’ll admit, at face value there are some pretty challenging things to process in the Bible. Things like God flooding the earth, God commanding the Hebrews to wipe out entire people groups, references to slavery in the Bible, eternal torment, and the concept of God intentionally hardening people’s hearts just to name a few. We'll be looking more into all of these topics, but for right now let’s focus on establishing the differences and similarities seen when comparing the New Testament God with the Old Testament God. We're going to do that by focusing on three things. Press play to get started!
