Hey, I just wanted to show my drying process this year. It's been about a year since my last dry, but I wanted to show my first wave of drying of the year. I had a couple difficulties early on, but I managed to work everything out by the end and now that I'm warmed up, I haven''t had any more issues with the rest of my harvest.
Just wanted to mention, that I usually do all my drying in the garment rack, but due to my slow start this year, I had to bring my harvest inside one or two times to speed up the rate of drying and avoid mold. Usually by day 4, I want to be where I was on day 7 and on day 7, I usually want to be where I was on day 9. The rest of the days are about where I wanted to be.
If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment down below in the comment section. I try to respond to everyone! Peace!

Hey Youtube, today I wanted to talk about four rules of drying cannabis.
Rule 1: Avoid Mold At All Costs. No one likes moldy weed. It ruins flavor and will get you sick. Once your cannabis starts to mold, it's a total loss so be careful to not let mold spores or mold enter your drying area.
Rule 2: Dry For As Long As You Can (without getting mold). The slower your cannabis dries, the better it will become, but if you dry it too slowly, it will mold and become a total loss. It is a fine balance, but as you gain experience you will be able to see and know when to let your cannabis breathe more and when to slow the drying process down. With experience you will be able to stretch the senescence without fear of mold. In general, slower dried material produces a better smoke, but be careful not to push it too far and get mold.
Rule 3: Avoid Sunlight, Heat, Excess Moisture, Handling, or Direct Air Flow. Sunlight degrades the THC. Overly hot or cold temperatures can kill the enzymes that decompose macro molecular substances. Too much handling will destroy trichome leading to poor smell and poor long term storage. Direct air flow will likely dry too quickly and prevent hydrolysis from being able to occur. Over all, you just want to be very careful with the handling of your buds.
Rule 4: Avoid Putting Cannabis In An Anaerobic Environment Before It's Safe For Long Term Storage. Putting cannabis in an oxygen-free environment too soon will kill the smell of your cannabis. If there is too much moisture in the stem or core of the bud, anaerobic bacterial will thrive if given the chance. If you put your dried buds in a jar and leave it for a day or three, the smell will indicate whether they were dry enough. If the smell is have weakened or altogether left, then it was too soon. If your dried buds smell better after the 1-3 days, then they were likely dry enough.

Hey Youtube! It's been 16 days since my last update. We got a ton of rain in the last two days so the plants are looking a bit beat up and sad today. I've stated my harvesting process in the last couple days, but still have a lot to process. I will likely continue my harvest by chopping more buds every week or two weeks
The Divine Clementine plant is doing well. It is still a bit early to harvest her. The trichomes on her area mix of cloudy and clear. I've only harvested a few of the larger colas because I knew two days of constant rain would likely degrade the quality
The Susie Diamond has been bulking up. This strain is highly susceptible to rust spots, more so than any other strain I've grown this summer. I've done my best to defoliate the most affected leaves, but the rust fungi is showing no signs of stopping it's spread. The trichomes on Susie is more developed than the Divine Clementine, but I would have liked to let her ride a bit longer before harvest, but unfortunately the rust fungi has forced me to start my harvest of her.
The Blue Moonshine x Gwiz has been doing well. The trichome on her were the most mature of all the plants so I was able to get a good initial chop on her. Se is the most dense strain of the garden so mold has impacted her more than my other plants. The rust fungi has affected her, but her infection was not a serious as on Susie Diamond. She's a really hardy plant and I will likely do my second chop on her in one or two weeks
The Albino Fire Skunk OG is my favorite smelling plant of this season. I was surprised to see that she was ready for harvest. She showed no signs of deficiencies. The rust fungi barely affected her at all. Powdery mildew was attempting to colonize her, but I never progressed very far. He buds are thin and small, but I love her aroma. I will likely continue her harvest in a week or two

Hey Youtube
It's be exactly two weeks since my last update so i just wanted to show you the garden and talk about what's been going on. The last 3 days have been very wet. There's been a lot of rain and the days have been overcast which has caused issues in the garden. I've noticed a few leaves starting to display signs of powdery mildew so I promptly plucked those leaes before it has a chance to gain a foothold in the plants. The rust damage has progressed quite a bit from last week so I may defoliate the affected leaves.
The Divine Clementine is progressing well. The buds are starting to get dense and gain weight. The buds are a lot denser than I'd expected. Almost rock hard, but not quite.
The Susie Diamond is being attacked by rust spots, which is a type of fungi. Most of the damage seems confined to the lower growth. The spores have even started affecting the neighboring plants. I'm not sure what to do. I may defoliate the infected leaves to stunt the progression of this attack
I've found a few mold spots on the Blue Moonshine x Gwiz, but mainly on the larf. I found one caterpillar on the outside of one of the buds so I removed that, but there seem to be fewer caterpillars than last year. I expected more mold on the Blue Moonshine x Gwiz, but this strain seems to be fairly resistant.
The Albino Fire Skunk is doing fairly well. I noticed a few leaves starting to get powdery mildew, but no rust spots or caterpillars. I will likely do a light defoliation of sick leaves and possible spay the foliage with silica to deter pests who may introduce and spread diseases.
Next update will be two weeks from now. Hopefully I have these issues handled! See ya then!

Just a quick date of the outdoor cannabis garden before September arrives. All the plants have begun flowering. The hasn't been much rain in the last two weeks. I've been collecting chlorine free music from a dehumidifier. every day, I collect about 3 gallons of water which I apply to the leaves of the plants towards the end of the day after the sun has set. I want the roots of my plants to continue searching deeper for more water. The foliar application of the unchlorinated water is just a little treat for my plants after a hard day of work :)
The Divine Clementine strain is coming along nicely and is finally starting to produce trichomes. Only the front have of the plant seems to be flowering, while the back half is still in pre-flower.
The Susie Diamond seems to be transitioning from pre-flower to flower. Her vertical growth has slowed somewhat, while she continues to bush out.
The Blue Moonshine x Gwiz is the furthest along in flower; probably in week two already. She is a short Indica leaning hybrid with sweet blueberry muffin terpenes.
The Albino Fire Skunk Og has been the runt of the group. Her stem is a bit smaller than the rest of the three plants and she has lagged behind the rest of the garden for the entire grow. In the last week or so, I've played music for her for about 5 or 6 hours a day. I place a mini speaker on the base of her stem and play vibration rich instrumental music for her. I'm not sure if it's affected her growth, but I've noticed her stretch a ton since the last video update. I like to think that something about the vibrations allows her to grow more vigorously. can you see a noticeable difference from the last video?

Quick update today. There's been a ton of rain in the last two weeks. I did some under-cropping of all the plants in the first week. Besides that I added a ton of organic fertilizers to the garden such as azomite rock dust, kelp meal, green sand, alfalfa meal, bone meal, molasses. I've also watered with water soluble hydroponic fertilizer for quick uptake. I randomly found a giant preying mantis so I caught it and released it on one of my plants. Hopefully it sticks around and protects my plants.
Next update in 2 weeks. PEACE!

Today, I'm talking about my challenges growing in 16 ounce containers and what I'm learning from my difficulties.
I tried to premix a complete organic soil that was intending to feed my plants for the entire grow, but this didn't work out. Some of the fertilizer was available initially, but most of it needed to be be broken down by the soil before it could be used by my plants. I watered these plants with tap water without letting the water sit for a day or two to let the chlorine volatilize and break down. Either the chlorinated water killed what little life my soil had or my compost was low quality so most of the organic fertilizers present in my soil were unable to be processed into readily available forms.
The next time I try this challenge, I will skip the compost entirely, and rely mainly on fast acting fertilizers like chelated or water soluble fertilizers which should immediately be available for uptake.
Hey everyone, August is finally here. It's been one month since my last garden update. In this quick tour, I briefly discuss the growth habits of each of the plants, my future plans in terms of cropping and pruning, and the previous month's weather.
I hope everyone is doing well. Next update will be mid august in 2 weeks. See ya then! Peace

It's the first week of July in the garden. In the last week, I placed some metal wire fencing around each of the plants to control growth. The fencing is about 3 feet in diameter. Ever two weeks, I like to come out and prune the canopies and pull new growth through the fencing. Next update will be either in 2 weeks or a month. Peace

Hey Youtube. It's finally September so drying season is almost upon us. Today I wanted to go over some drying set up options for drying cannabis. I have 7 different options in today's video. This list is not completely exhaustive, but these are just a couple of options I found while quickly browsing Amazon. Depending what items, you have at home, you may not need to buy anything. I just wanted to throw some ideas out there for people who haven't decided on how they plan to dry their herb yet.
1. Paper bags - These are one option if you're really in a pinch, can't afford a better set up, or aren't interested in achieving the best dry you can. paper bags can be found for free or for cheap at grocery stores or restaurants. Stick with unbleached paper if you can and try to use large bags if you can find them.
2. DIY Cardboard Box - Cardboard Boxes are a good option for growers on a budget. They are cheap and can often be found for free. Larger boxes are preferred for more drying space. Height is important because it allows longer stems to be dried. Cardboard boxes scales very well and can be organized and stacked to keep order and save space. It may take 2-5 minutes to create each dry box, box they fold easily and can last for years if treated well.
3. Mesh Cannabis Rack - I personally hate these mesh drying racks. They usually end up compressing the cannabis, making fine trimming tough to achieve. If you don't pay regular attention to your buds, and turn them often, the buds can easily become flat on one side. They are an inexpensive option, but I advise against this method. Hang drying is always preferable to laying fresh cannabis on its side. The fewer points of contacts between the trichomes and a surface, the better. Trichomes can easily be disturbed and broken when placed on this mesh netting and constantly jostled and rolled around.
4. Covered Clothing Rack - This is an interesting option. I never would have thought to use this, but a year or two ago, I found this was the only thing I had on hand. I tried it and things worked out really well so now I'm a believer. These Covered Clothing Racks can be a nice alternative to cardboard boxes. If you want fewer containers to manage at once and prefer to work with larger quantities at once, this may be an good option fr you. You should place a small fan in this covered drying rack to maintain air movement. You can control humidity in the drying rack, but opening and closing the zippered door. If you plan on placing this outside, be preferred to cover it with a waterproof tarp and pin it secure it to something to prevent it from falling over.
5. Waterproof tent - Tents are an interesting option, I haven't had the chance to try yet. tents are usually waterproof and they can offer a space for both you can your drying buds to stay. These are more expensive than a covered drying rack for the utility they offer. Some tents can be secured to the ground. Others have have interesting an unique features. If you want a tent purely for your buds to dry in, be mindful of the shape of the tent in order to maximize space.
6.Waterproof Storage Cabinet - These cabinets are uniquely suited for the outdoors and provide an inconspicuous place to store your priced buds. These sheds do not draw much attention at all and can oftentimes be locked up quick easily for an added layer of security. These are about comparable to the previous option, but then to make better use of the available space. Typically the shelves can be moved or removed which offered extra versatility. check your local hardware or home improvement store for the best deals on these cabinets.
7. Outdoor Storage Shed - Outdoor Sheds are ideal places to dry your cannabis. While these are the most expensive things on our list, they offer a ton in return. Storage sheds offer the most protection and privacy for your drying buds. No one will be able to easily get into your shed. they can easily be locked and can often be affixed to the last to make theft, even more difficult. You may already have a shed on your property, so be sure to use it if you have one. With a nice shed, you can dry your entire harvest at once!

Drying and Curing : Why Are My Buds Losing Smell! Weed Smells Like Hay or Wet Grass

Cannabis should not lose its smell at any point if the drying or curing stage. If your buds lose their smell, that's your signal something is wrong. Usually a loss of smell indicates an overabundance of humidity and/or lack of air respiration. The buds and stems are still alive in the days following being cut. If you put buds that still have a high moisture content into an anaerobic environment, they won't be able to respire and continue processing sugars and chlorophyll, and they'll lose their smell and be at a high risk of mold attacking them

Are You Jarring Your Buds Too Soon? A Beginner's Recommendation When To Start Curing Your Harvest

Jarring is meant to slowly siphon moisture from the core of the buds. This is achieved by letting the humidity of the closed environment equalize then opening the jar to let out the humid air, and let in drier air. If you cut off the air too soon, you're wasting days that you potentially could have slow dried and stretched out your plant's senescence: a process that helps degrade nitrogen and other compounds so if your jars read higher than around 62-64 relative humidity then you may have jarred them too soon.
As long as your buds have some airflow and moisture left in the stem then you can extend the drying process. If you dry your buds slowly and carefully over a long period of time (7-14ish days), you can get to the perfect internal humidity without ever needing to completely restrict air flow and prematurely go into an anaerobic environment. You want to stretch out the drying process of the plant so it has time to metabolize and ultimately become smoother and more flavorful. A slow dry should seamlessly transition into curing. Once the initial drying is complete, you can seal your buds up and the relative humidity will be perfect for curing and you won't need to open your jars out of fear of mold.

Hey youtube. This is the final video in my season 2 16 ounce beer cup challenge. All 3 seeds came from the same mother plant. These seeds were photoperiods and not autoflowers. 2 of the 3 seeds showed the same phenotype ✌✌while the other one was a bit different with different terpenes and a loser bud structure. I probably could have let the sativa phenotype flower a couple more weeks, but I wanted to finish up this challenge and free up my tent to start some vegetable seeds for my fall garden.
I dried my buds a bit too quickly in the first two days after chopping. Because the buds had dried so quickly, so fast, I had to throw the buds into a jar to help slow the dry. It took about a week of burping the jars for the buds to start smelling good again. At this stage, I decided to do the final weigh in because there really wasn't any more water weight that I expected to be lost. I will still continue burping my jar maybe once a week, but I'm basically done.
Over all, I'm happy to have tried this challenge again. I was a bit discouraged after failing at my first attempt, but retrying this challenge helped me to learn more about cheated fertilizers and water soluble nutrients. I was pleasantly surprised at how fast I was able to start flowering. I still have a lot to learn, but I'm more confident now then when I first started this challenge.
I plan on trying this challenge again in the future. Not exactly sure when that will be, but subscribe to keep up to date. A big thanks to everyone who followed along! I can't wait to see you all in the next one. Peace!

This week I tried doing my first garden time-lapse. I had meant to upload this on Monday, but I was having difficulty with editing software. The plants grew a lot this week, with most plants showing signs of pre-flower. I wasn't expecting my plants to start flowering so soon, but I'm happy. So far, one plant had to be removed due to it being male. There may be more, but so far the other 5 plants seem to look female. I will upload next week's update on Monday. Thanks for tuning in!

Hey Youtube, what's going on
It's been another two weeks so I thought, I'd update you with my garden's progress. It's about week 3 or 4 of flower and the strains are really starting to frost up and develop their unique terpene profiles. I show the base stems of each plant, the underneath of each canopy, and talk about the flavors and scents of each plant.
The divine clementine is looking lovely as ever. Smells mostly of oranges. I will have to wait and see if any other smells develop from her. She has a slight cream smell, but it may just be my imagination. She have lovely long stems with spear shaped cola. She will be a breeze to trim!
The Susie Diamond finally is putting out terpenes! She smells mostly of cherry although I get slight grape notes and jelly coming from her. The trichomes look short compared to the other strains, but I'm really excited about her. She'ss a very bushy girl, with spear shaped colas as well.
The Blue Moonshine x Gwiz is an indica leaning strain will a very squat growth pattern. The buds are rapidly swelling and she smells of of blueberries and pine. I'm worried this strain may have issues with Mold further on in harvest. The buds are so big, despite being topped multiple times and only being in week 4. This will likely be tougher to trim, but I'm happy I'll be able to have a staggered harvest with her being the first to be processed.
The Albino Fire Skunk OG is the least vigorous strain of the garden, but the most complex and wonderful smelling. It's very tough to pin the smell down. Smells almost like peach baby powder, rubbing alcohol, watermelon, ect. The colas are very tall and have stretched multiple feet in the last month. I love the smell and can't wait to harvest and dry her so I can taste that unique terpene profile. Not the most vigorous, but the smells and flavors are out of this world!
Thanks for checking the garden out. Next update will be two weeks from now, probably on Sunday

Ir's been 28 days since germination. After 7 days one of the six seedling had still not emerged from it's husk so I had to plant another seed to take its place.
The perlite + peat moss blend I used for the seed starter tray seemed to hamper my seeds. After transplanting to the 16oz beer cups, and adding new potting soil mix, the plants seed to be growing faster.

I'm excited to try the 16oz beer cup challenge once again! I decided to transplant my seedlings from a damp paper towel to small seed starter trays. I could have transplanted directly into the beer cup, but i want to stagger the growth of the roots .I could have left the seedlings inside the ziplock bag for another day or so to fully sprout, but the starter trays are too shallow for me to wait
