Cranberry Sauce Can Be Sold In Squeezable Form. Why Not? ☺️
Ever since I was old enough to buy groceries, I always wanted to buy cranberry sauce in smaller size cans. Then I thought about different containers. Perhaps a smaller food grade plastic container would be less expensive to manufacture than additional smaller cans of Cranberry Sauce.
🥣 4OZ is a good amount for such a sweet treat. For people who can’t eat a lot of sugar due to diet restrictions, they could purchase just enough to satisfy their craving. 🥣
A honey bottle works. A squeeze tube could work better.
Garlic comes in squeeze tubes, and in different sizes. Why not Cranberry Sauce?

Super Easy Rice & Beans With Pork Belly.
Tip: You can trim and freeze some of the fat to use for cooking potatoes, beans, eggs or other future recipes. Same as you would use lard from a butcher. Fresh lard is not available nearby, so this works.
Pup Missy also had a little taste since it wasn’t over-seasoned. She sure enjoyed it.

Bees Love This Easy To Grow Ground Cover Weed
Bees in my yard love this Ground Cover plant.
Other pollinators stop by for it but not as much as bees do.
Richardia brasiliensis, a species of flowering plants in the coffee family, aka known as Tropical Mexican Clover, Brazilian Calla-Lily, White-eye or Brazilian Pusley.
They’re native to South America, and sometimes can be an invasive weed. It is a popular weed of citrus groves in Florida.
You can find it growing wild in many public areas of Southern USA. You have to look close as the species are not always easy to identify. These leaves are more rounded and hairier than similar species. The tiny white flowers are smaller than a honeybee’s head.
Another species that can be found growing with Richardia Brasiliensis is called Richardia Scabra; it’s leaves are a bit more narrow with less hair. Still difficult to identify as the flowers look the same, and some can even be pinkish.
I think the best way to offer it to bees if you don’t want it taking over as a wild flower weed or ground cover, is to plant them in pots. I let it grow as a ground cover in some areas. Mowing doesn’t cause much damage as they mostly grow low to the ground.
This plant dies in my winter zone 8b, but returns yearly from seed, when it warms up. Occasionally they’re watered in case pollinators are thirsty, and we have no rain for some time.

1st Time Cook & Eat Sweet Potato Leaves
Have you tried sweet potato leaves or flowers?
lol. I read that they’re both edible. Today we’re tasting just cooked leaves in a pan, grilled rye sandwich with garlic and provolone cheese. The leaves don’t have much taste cooked & texture is a lot like spinach.
Here’s a video link to see my plant’s flowers…

I read that George Washington Carver developed over 100 different products from sweet potatoes, including an alternative to corn syrup. Check out more cool info related to Sweet Potatoes…

Sweet Potato Flowers
People say it’s rare, well maybe not 😁 I was thrilled to see blooms on sweet potatoes. They’re very pretty…
This is a second attempt at growing potted, grocery sweet potatoes. First harvest last season was delicious yet very tiny in size and only a handful.
Here’s how I started them this time, back in April, in water to get roots started, rather than previously planting potatoes whole with only new leaves sprouting…

Super Easy To Grow Rain Lily Flowers
Lilies are low maintenance, and can bloom a half dozen or more times during summer. Even when not in bloom, the large, grass like leaves are beautiful in landscapes or grown in pots.
They’re easily divided into new plants by separating individual bulbs with roots.
They come in a variety of colors, and attract hummingbird pollinators that keep plants thriving and blooming.
Lilies can handle full sun to part shade.
These plants are pruned with scissors in spring, and occasionally can be pruned in summer to remove any dead leaves or flowers. Just gather leaves like a ponytail and cut, leaving a few inches to grow again. Also in spring, with new growth, they get fed a little composted, cow manure, then a thin top layer of cypress or pine straw mulch.
In winter zone 8b, they’re left in the ground, and have grown back for several years.
Always fascinated when they pop open after a rainfall. They can develop buds, then bloom in a single day, within several hours; like magic.
Lilies are one of the easiest flowers to grow!

Such A Huntress 😁
Missy loves to watch and point to birds in her yard. Like a huntress, she’ll sneak up on them to get a better look while keeping a safe distance for herself! She usually chases birds as they start to run on the ground and fly away, even then, she never runs as fast as I know she could to catch them, and that’s okay.
Missy knows I feed birds. They have their own area for food and water away from her yard, yet they still like to fly into hers for other plant and grass seeds.
When I see her spot birds, I tell her “Kisses Missy, Kisses” Maybe it helps to keep her from catching them? She sure knows what kisses are!

In A Pickle!
Knocked over 6 months ago from a tornado in NW Florida. The home doesn’t look like it was built any better than a mobile. I wonder how many ways it can be removed. I’m sure it’s being discussed often. Adjoining neighbors probably can’t legally live in their homes until that domino is cleared out.
Most new homes around this beach area are being built three stories high. Plus they take up most of the property, leaving no land around the homes to absorb much water; they’re over-sized for the lots, in all directions, in my opinion.
You can see in the video short link the rear that faces the Gulf, and the sides of the house that blew opened.
Jan 2024 https://youtube.com/shorts/ZQU00bVbZyc?feature=shared
Most of the area’s scattered debris is cleaned up, yet still ongoing with repairs. Definitely a shortage of good construction workers.

1st Sweet Peppers Of Summer 2024
The first pepper plant was purchased from Home Depot in spring, and it’s a first for me, growing average size peppers (I’ve grown mini peppers in past ) After the first pepper was removed, more blooms started popping up.
The mini, orange pepper plant was started this season from last year’s seeds that were saved from a colorful, mini grocer variety pepper pack. It also developed more blooms after the first pepper was removed.
My favorite way to eat red bell peppers is freeze dried. I tried them during Covid lockdown after ordering them from a shop on Etsy. A must try if you haven’t; they were sweet like candy, and so full of organic, natural flavor. I never rehydrated or used them in a recipe. They were that good as is, without any other ingredients or chemicals.

Chopped Salad [Use Up What You Have]
I discovered the last store-bought onion growing in a bag that was hanging in the kitchen. I wanted to trim it before planting, so I thought I would try some cuttings in a salad. No special recipe, just chopped up what I had in stock to make an easy salad. The onions were very good! We’ll see how well it grows. I plan to grow the onions in a pot next to my first, potted strawberry plant…

Pup Devoured Chicken Salad
I don’t recall Missy ever turning down a taste of anything I offer her ☺️
This was just a snack from a chicken salad that I made mostly for myself. But she’s always with me when I’m in the kitchen, expecting something, and that’s okay.
It’s very reasonably priced, easy to make, and taste delicious.

Chicken Chestnut Sandwich
Super easy to make!
Canned water chestnuts are very convenient, and nutritious especially when celery is unavailable. They can be used in tuna fish sandwiches as well.
Leftover Traditional Flavor Rotisserie Chicken is from Walmart.
Mini tomato plant came from Lowe’s Nursery. It was only a few inches high just a short time ago and cost a couple of bucks. Now it’s 2.5’ tall and produces ripe tomatoes every other day or so.
Pup Missy and I enjoy them.

Buy It-Date It-Stock it!
Tip!
Write dates with a marker on all your products (not just canned goods) before putting them away. 🧐
Especially If your power goes out, it’ll be easier to see expiration dates.
You’ll thank yourself later! 🤓

Living Leaf
I took a few cuttings from a Pothos house plant then put them in water to root. I kept a single leaf around without a node since it was a pretty variegated color to look at. I didn’t expect a leaf without a node to survive for more than a week or so, yet it’s still alive after 18 months.
Almost time to say goodbye as it started turning yellow a few weeks ago.

I’ll Take It :)
Any shade one can get in a parking lot during warmer days of the year is appreciated. I wouldn’t park here during a lightning storm. Would you?
This internet tower is enclosed like a utility pole. It certainty looks more difficult to climb than other opened, framed structures; not sure what the internet performance difference is or if it holds up any better in strong winds.
As usual, big bird nest are on top of the small platforms where workers need to stand.

Really Cool Surprise
This is an area that I take opossums to when I trap them on my property for the past 8 years; I’ve taken about 10 so far. I carry the trap cage to the back where the trees start… The county will not pickup wildlife, and building contractors certainly won’t either; they should!
Behind this vacant lot are acres of trees, brush, and some waterways. The cleared area has been used for storing mounds of dirt, but today I thought I noticed new rocks dumped off, no big deal, right?
I parked in the adjacent hotel parking lot so I could take Pup Missy for a walk on the soft, dirt filled road. There is always plenty of parking spaces so I don’t feel that I’m in anyone’s way. I wasn’t planning on going too far into the vacant lot but Missy was guiding me towards those rocks. So off we went. Wow! Mounds of seashells, not rocks. I haven’t been that surprised in a long time☺️ Missy even got excited over the shells, and climbed them as she sniffed around.

Panama City Beach Florida Hathaway Bridge
Quick visit to a tiny park, and Hathaway bridge that connects Panama City Beach Florida to Panama City (inland).
Hathaway was constructed in 2003, it replaced two previous bridges that were unable to carry the growing number of users. The original wooden, “St. Andrews Bay Bridge” was built in 1929 (some say 1946) and renamed for Franz Hathaway, chairman of Florida's State Road Department. The second Hathaway bridge replaced first Hathaway, and was completed in 1959. In 1997, the state of Florida issued more than $80 million for construction of the new Hathaway Bridge. [Portions of both Hathaway I and II are still submerged to the south of the present day Hathaway bridge].
Reference Wikipedia.
The old picture of the bridge is dated between 1929-1960.
Reference DiveBuddy.com
The old bridge looked pretty solid in old photos but I guess engineers know best, right? ☺️

Pup Tries Out Walking & Hunting In Bay Water
Took Missy to Carl Gray Park. Just off Hathaway Bridge next to Gulf Coast State College. She wasn’t as nervous this time, and she started to look for critters in the water. Not sure if she’ll ever enjoy water as much as she does land. The water can be bit loud, choppy and scary for her. Glad she didn’t try to walk me too much; she was being a good girl. A pocket full of cookies helped! ☺️

Pup Escapes 1st Wedgie ☺️ [Like hoo-DEE-nee]
Took Missy to a little boat ramp/ park near a bridge. Most visitors go there to fish in shade from under the bridge or to launch a boat. Few were out as it was windy with choppy waters.
We shared a quick snack but it didn’t stop Missy from sniffing the ground for more. People tend to throw out or drop all sorts of foods near beaches and waterways for birds, deer or wildlife in general. Missy loves finding a cheese doodle or potato chip. lol. I try not to let her eat any but occasionally she gets lucky. She definitely sniffs out dried chicken and fish bones, even rib bones. Just the other day there was pizza crust in a parking space, I had to kick it far under my van but as soon as I got Missy out, she was pulling her leash to go get it. She can eat 24/7😁
Missy got her first wedgie ☺️ with the extended leash. She had to sit and think for a sec about how she was going get herself out of it. She wanted to figure it out on her own, and she did; she circled backwards and the leash was back in the correct position.

Beautiful Cilantro Flowers Enjoyed By Garden Guest 😊
So many delicious leaves were harvested from this one plant, and I was able to freeze plenty for future recipes. Of course I rinsed the leaves well, as I do with all grown food as soon as it’s taken indoors.
My Pup Missy enjoys an occasional leaf.
Tiny ants just appeared after the flowers bloomed; the ants really enjoy them. Flowers are edible but were a bit too bitter for me when I tried them in the past.

Pup Watches Birds While Relaxing :)
Missy usually loves to chase birds; not so much this morning. She just enjoyed watching! Could be that she was exhausted after my cousin brought his dog to visit for a weekend. It was Missy’s first time hanging out with another dog in her home for that length of time since she was a puppy. Missy was a bit jealous when I petted or fed the other dog Sophie. Missy wanted the same attention, like a child. ☺️ Although it takes more than a weekend to train dogs to become accustomed, it went quite well.

Nervous Pup Meets Bay Water For First Time
It took some time to get Missy’s feet wet. She finally made it in for the first time. 😁 it’s a very shallow bay at the shoreline, and good for walking. Any deeper, the fish would be larger with sharks swimming around. She didn’t notice the tiny fish or a tiny red crab that disappeared into the wet sand. Not sure if she will ever try to catch anything in water as she does on land. I’m not crazy about sharks so ankle deep is plenty for both of us.

Orange-Headed Brown Anoles Live In FL Garden
Green Anoles have been in North America for millions of years. Orange-Head Browns are seen more frequently in recent years because Green Anoles are relocating to higher bushes and trees according to scientists. But people still think Orange-Headed are replacing Green Anoles.
Orange-headed were introduced through trade in the 1940’s, some say that they are native to Cuba or Bahamas. Check your suitcases when you travel!
