Slow Cooked Dinner for the Nomadic Lifestyle
Today on The Wizard Life I'll be showing you how I slow cook a meal of grassfed meat, organics vegetables, ghee and spices using solar power.
For the sake of simplicity and personal economics I usually have white rice and vegetables for dinner, but every once awhile when I drive through a big town I decide to treat myself to a real hearty meal.
I use a 12-Volt Slow Cooker powered by my single 100W solar panel and 100ah battery. It also runs great plugged directly into the truck's cigarette lighter while on a long drive. Always nice to arrive home to a healthy meal that's hot and ready to eat, eh?
Here are the tools I use to cook this meal:

Visiting the White Sands National Monument
Visiting the White Sands National Monument in New Mexico.
While moving to a new camp, I happened to drive right by this place and couldn't pass up the opportunity to take a quick look.
These dunes are made mostly of gypsum, a water soluble mineral which flowed down from the the mountains which surround this basin. There is no outlet to the ocean from this area, so the water evaporates and sinks into the ground leaving the gypsum behind.

Visiting the Bodhi Manda Zen Center
Today on The Wizard Life I'll be giving a tour of The Bodhi Manda Zen Center in Jemez Springs, NM.
I stayed here for almost a year about 15 years ago with the intention of becoming a Zen Buddhist Monk. Life had others plans for me, but since it was nearby I decided to drop by and see how things were going.
One of the coolest things about this place is the fact that it is located on the side of an old volcano and has very hot water flowing just below the surface. This allows them to fill their beautiful geothermal Hot Springs and to heat all of their buildings.
I've been here over a month, and have been offered a position managing the office. It's a tempting offer, especially because of the great community, though I have some other exiting options to consider as well. I'll talk about that in a future video and keep you posted on what I decide.

Earning a Living as a Nomad with Steem
My expenses while living as a nomad in my truck as very low, but there are still some things I need to pay for, so it's important that I have an income source. One of the primary ways I make money on the road is through the Steem Blockchain.
Steem is a cryptocurrency similar to Bitcoin which rewards users for creating the kind of content you might find on a social media platform like YouTube or Facebook. The primary difference is that when people click the 'Like' button on your post you earn Steem!
There are a lot of technical details to know if you're going to dive head first into the Steem Blockchain, and I'll be covering those in future videos. For now, this video is a summary of what Steem is and how I use it to fund my nomadic adventures.

Ketogenic Breakfast for the Nomadic Lifestyle
Today on The Wizard Life I will be sharing how I make Hot Chocolate containing 1500 calories of fat for breakfast every morning while living nomadically in my truck.
You may be asking yourself why in the world am I drinking 1500 calories of fat for breakfast. Well, there are several reasons:
**Triggers Ketosis**
Drinking fat puts me into Ketosis, which is a state in which my body is burning Ketones instead of Glucose for energy. Ketones come from fat, while Glucose comes from carbohydrates and sugars.
There are many benefits to Ketosis, which you can learn about here (http://ketosis.thewizard.link), but its primary importance to me is that it provides a huge amount of stable energy that lasts for hours.
**Supports Intermittent Fasting**
Intermittent Fasting is a type of fasting in which you only eat food within an 8-hour window and fast the rest of the day. There are numerous benefits to and variants of Intermittent Fasting which you can learn about here (http://intermittentfasting.thewizard.link).
**Space Efficient Calories**
While living in my truck I have to constantly be thinking about how to minimize the amount of space I'm using. Food tends to be fairly bulky, especially if I'm trying to stay out in the wilderness for as long as possible before requiring a trip to town.
A tablespoon of fat contain around 125 calories, which is extremely space efficient.
**Non-Perishable**
I'm using Ghee and Caprylic Acid as my fats. Both are extremely stable with shelf lives lasting into the years when properly stored.

Small Cave Discovery at Indian Bread Rocks
While exploring the rocky hills behind my campsite at Indian Bread Rocks in Arizona I spotted in the distance what looked to be an entrance to a cave!
I managed to make it to the entrance and discovered it was just big enough for a single person to be able to gain shelter from the sun, wind and rain. I'm guessing this area was populated in the early days of the United States, and would have served as a highly defendable location.

Blue Moon Over Indian Bread Rocks
Tonight is a very special moon!
First, it is a Blue Moon which means it's the second Full Moon in the same month, a very rare occurrence.
Second, the moon is at the closest it gets to Earth, meaning it looks bigger than usual. This is called a Super Moon!
And third, right before the moon sets there will a Blood Moon which is an eclipse where the light from the sun passes through the Earth's atmosphere filtering out the blue light leaving only red.
Quite the combination wouldn't you say? I'm told we won't experience this again in it lifetimes.

4x4 Advantage While Living in a Truck
Today on The Wizard Life I'm sharing the advantage I've noticed of having Four Wheel Drive (4x4) while living out on public land in a truck.
Most camping or boondocking locations tend to have a heavy concentration of RVs and Vans right near the entrance from the main road. This is because those vehicles have a difficult time on uneven roads and terrain. So even though there's miles of land that you're allowed to drive to, hardly anyone goes out there... unless they have a vehicle with power to all 4 wheels!
I've really been enjoying this advantage so far because it guarantees me some privacy and some peace and quiet. It's also really fun to drive into the mountains on an old bumpy dirt road!

Morning Routine for Body Awareness
In this episode of The Wizard Life I'm going to be sharing with you my morning routine for body awareness.
I've been doing this routine for several years now, and it's primary goal is to create symmetrical awareness of the body to increase moment-to-moment comfort in the long term and improve physical and energetic performance for the rest of the day.
It's been extremely helpful for me and I hope my sharing of it with you serves your life for the better.

The Sun as an Energy Source
The Sun is so amazing! I'm able to run all kinds of energy intensive things while living in my truck in the desert off of a single 100-Watt Solar Panel and a couple of batteries. The Sun also powers the life of the plants on this planet and even animals like us!
Check out this podcast interview of Dr. Gerald Pollack from the University of Washington who discovered that water in our bodies stores energy it receives from the Sun!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUTrgjHMvM8
I love standing in the warmth of the morning Sun more than anything. It just feels so right!
