CAAP's Grand Opening in Texas - Highlights with Dr. Deborah Owens
It's a new name, a new era, but the same CAAP.
Last week, we celebrated the grand opening of CAAP's new headquarters in Houston, Texas. Now, I'm happy to be able to share this video of some of the highlights of the event.
I especially want to share the remarks I made that day, because I feel they convey an important message about our priorities in the coming year.
As I explain in the video, it's a new era for CAAP, as reflected by our name change - a change that better represents our mission and the diversity of our support. But at the same time, we remain the same CAAP. We are still dedicated to defending faith, family, and freedom. And we are still proud to stand in the gap for our values, take on the difficult issues, and tell uncomfortable truths.
In the coming year, we want to increase our emphasis on education, both as a means to help provide better opportunties (through school choice, vouchers, etc.), and as a way to defend the rights of parents.
Leftist indoctrination has become a serious problem in our schools, and CAAP will help empower parents to stop the spread of leftist ideology in the classroom (such as critical race theory and transgender ideology).
We are committed to the idea that parents have the right to direct their children's education. We will not allow them to be harassed or intimidated by politicians or activists who want to use schools to forward a radical agenda.
There are changes coming to CAAP, but we will always remain true to our founding principles. I hope you will support us and pray for us as we continue our mission to promote Biblical teaching.

USA Today Defends Pedophilia - CAAP Speaks Out
The warning signs have been all around us.
As the Left continues to try to promote broad social acceptance of fringe behaviors, it was inevitable that we would see a concerted effort to normalize pedophilia.
We've seen it in the sexualization of children - as in the Netflix movie "Cuties." And now we're seeing it in the use of "science" to minimize and redefine what pedophilia is.
This week, USA Today published an article that was originally titled "What the public keeps getting wrong about pedophilia." The article purported to draw a line between sexual attraction to children and molestation (or acting on that attraction) and pointed to research demonstrating that not everyone who has pedophilic urges acts upon them.
The media outlet promoted the article in a series of tweets attempting to establish a separation between pedophilia and sexual abuse. One tweet read, "A pedophile is an adult who is sexually attracted to children, but not all pedophiles abuse kids, and some people who sexually abuse kids are not pedophiles."
Over a year ago, we discussed the effort to normalize and destigmatize pedophilia in an episode of Wisdom for Today. In it, we warned that radicals wanted to reclassify pedophilia into just another sexual preference. (The petition that we mentioned regarding the movie "Cuties" brought in hundreds of signatures and was sent to the CEO of Netflix.)
USA Today was rightly criticized for the article, and they responded by taking down the original twitter thread on the article and retitling it "The complicated research behind pedophilia."
However, we shouldn't be surprised to see "science" brought into the effort to normalize sexual attraction to children. As we warned in the video above, this is part of a larger effort from the radical Left.
It began with same-sex marriage and continued with transgenderism. At the time, we said that if same sex marriage became law, it would open the door to the societal acceptance of every deviant sexual behavior. Now we are seeing that prediction come true.
This is an uncomfortable topic to talk about, but we cannot close our eyes to what is going on in our culture. The people who suffer from pedophilic urges need psychiatric help, not normalization and acceptance. And we have a responsibility to protect children from such people - and from those who wish to minimize and normalize their behavior.
CAAP is one of the few national organizations that is willing to speak out on this uncomfortable issue. Please consider helping us today with a donation that will allow us to make more videos and push back against the radical effort to normalize pedophilia.

Wisdom for Today - Stop Using Kids as Collateral Damage and Re-open Schools
Deborah Owens, President of CAAP and Director of Wisdom for Today, speaks her heart about the issue of school closures. Politicians must reject the teacher's union and open schools for the sake of children and parents!

TRANSCRIPT: This is Dr. Deborah Owens with another episode of Wisdom for Today. And today's message is simple. I believe our politicians need a time out when it comes to COVID and whether or not students are returning back to school, in-person learning, virtual learning, it's gotten out of hand and many parents are frustrated.
Parents want what's best for their child at the end of the day. Parents want their children to be educated and I know for me, I'm an educator at Hart Middle School for eleven years. And I taught at the college level and I hold a doctorate education degree. And for me, we were thrown into this whole COVID pandemic and all of a sudden everyone had to become teachers. We had to teach our children at home because we were on lockdown. I thank God I had the resources, I had the training, I had the knowledge so that I could help our children at home, but I know that there are many parents and didn't have those resources and didn't know what to do, I didn't know how to teach. And in fact, even my children with my experience and my knowledge would say, You're not my teacher, you're a mom and this is not school, this is home. And so they couldn't wait to get back to school and to their friends and to to their routine because obviously our routine changed at home as well. And so we need to take politics out of education and we need to return children to school.
There are many children who have special needs, and they have teachers who can address those needs at home. The children also need the social aspect of schooling. There's a lot that's involved in a school day that you can't get in a home setting.
And so we have some politicians now who flip flopping, who are standing or siding with the teachers union on teachers not wanting to return to work because of the COVID or the fear of getting COVID. And I I know because as I said, I am an educator.
The teachers union collect their dues from teachers, and so they support teachers. What we need are policy makers who are not going to be Democrat or Republican. They're not going to take sides. They're going to do what's right for children.
And our children should not be collateral damage. And so they are becoming collateral damage. Many children are now a year or two years behind in their education, and that may never be caught up. And so I'm saying politicians take a time out.
Parents continue to be your child's best advocate and push for them. So those school districts who are saying that students need to stay at home and continue with remote learning, continue to push back, continue to reach out to the school board and know that you are the child's this advocate.
And you know what's best for your child and being in school if that's what you want? Being in school, being in the school setting is what's best for your child and push for that and enough of making politics out of this situation, out of COVID, it's unfair to the children. It's unfair to families and we need to make our priorities what's best for children. And so I just wanted to share my point of view and just say enough is enough.
Take the time now, and let's do what's best for children. And that's my message, and I pray that you would share with me what your thoughts are. Tell me if you agree or you disagree. Our website is www.caapusa.org
You can email me at info@caapusa.org. So for now, this is Deborah with another episode of Wisdom for Today. Let's do what's best for children. God bless you.

CAAP Releases New Book: "There is no story more compelling... than being black in America."
"In the long arc of human history and oppression, there is no story more compelling than the long saga of being black in America. Black Americans have every reason to be proud people. But as I am a student of what has been, I also know what can be. Come and follow me. There is a path to the promised land." - Page 10-11 of A Dream Derailed, Bill Owen's new book.
