The situation in the first century church was unique. War was coming to Jerusalem and times were troubled. Many claim this as motivation for believers to sell possessions and have "all things common" but Scripture tells us the real reason. They were all of one mind and soul. These believers were 'all in' as committed servants of the gospel. Nothing else mattered.

The filling of the Holy Spirit caused an undeniable quality within believers that became a supreme obstacle to religious leaders. It wasn't any outward sign but an inward boldness of faith that could not, would not, be stifled. We need that today.

A lame man sat begging for enough to live as he was for another day. What he was given was a changed life.

The book of Acts is an historical documentation of the beginning and growth of the New Testament Church. As with all growth, there is transition as the "training wheels" gradually get retired and sustaining practice develops.

Exactly on time, the promise of God’s indwelling Spirit came.

Just before Jesus ascended He told His disciples to wait for the promise of His Spirit that would I dwell them. They were not disappointed.

The resurrected Christ was not an apparition or vision. He was real and stood before the disciples in physical form.

Discouraged and heartbroken, the disciples needed direction. Jesus supplied it and they never looked back.

Superstition and tradition of man tend to rule our decisions. Going to God for answers is often our last choice.

A second recorded miracle of Jesus doing much with small resource.

These people knew of notorious demoniacs that were set free, dead that were raised, and thousands that were fed in the wilderness yet were unaware that God was in their midst.

Reflecting on our personal value (without Christ) should have us begging for scraps at the table of God’s mercy.

The wind blew, the waves crashed, the disciples cried out in fear, but Jesus calmed the sea.

The disciples’ answer was to send the problem away but Jesus fed them all.

Jesus heals a man who had no hope in the world’s answers.

Understanding God’s Word and will is an act of His Spirit. So too is the ability and will to speak up.

Unbelievers have made excuses for every miracle of Jesus but believers don’t need miracles as foundation for their faith.

There are only two who know for sure if you are saved. Everyone else can be fooled.

Even touching a burial coffin would make a Jewish person “unclean” but Jesus never hesitated.

Jesus violates the legalisms of man and maintains the compassion of God.

"The power of the Lord was present to heal them." There was a crowd gathered to hear the words of Jesus but the only ones listed by name were the religious leaders. They were there to study Jesus but Jesus was there to heal THEM if they would only see their need.

Sin leads to pain and destruction but Jesus brings deliverance. Above all is the effect of a life that is transformed by that deliverance.

Seeing "trials" as opportunity comes through experience and confidence in God's care and provision for us. Fear turns to confidence and confidence becomes a testimony of the power of Christ within us.

Leprocy begins as a small bacterial infection and grows to affect a person's whole life. Sin patterns in the same way. What begins as something we see as small and harmless takes root and takes over our whole life. There is an answer and starts with a touch from Jesus.
