About Lance Lambert and his ministry: Lance Lambert was one of the most distinguished Bible scholars and speakers in Israel in our day and had an itinerant teaching ministry worldwide. Born in 1931, Lance grew up in Richmond, Surrey and came to know the Lord at twelve years of age. He entered the school of African and Oriental studies at London University to prepare for work in China. He studied Classical Chinese, Mandarin, Oriental Philosophy and Far Eastern History, but the revolution closed the door to European missionaries and his entry into China. In the early 1950’s Lance served in the Royal Air Force in Egypt and later fellowshipped with the assembly at Halford House Christian Fellowship in Richmond, England. Having discovered his Jewish ancestry Lance became an Israeli citizen in 1980 and now has his home next to the Old City of Jerusalem. His father and many members of his family died in the Holocaust. Lance is noted for his eschatological views, which place him in the tradition of Watchman Nee and T. Austin-Sparks. He produced a widely appreciated quarterly audio recording called the Middle East Update, which gave his unique perspective on current events in the Middle East, in the light of God’s Word. He has written numerous books and is presenter of the video production, Jerusalem, the Covenant City. Lance desired for his ministry to continue to be available to future generations when he went on to be with the Lord. This is our desire as well. In this, our final session on the Prerequisites for the Lord's Return, Doug takes a deep-dive into The Song of Solomon and brings its relevance to us today as the bride who is to make herself ready for her Bridegroom (Revelation 19:7). Type - Shulamite Bride - Anti-type - the Church Type - King Solomon - Anti-type - Satan / world system Type - Shepherd Lover - Anti-type - Christ As Doug explains this last example of the prerequisites to the return of Jesus Christ for His bride, he notes: "The Rapture will come when the Bride (the Church) responds to her Bridegroom (Jesus Christ) in a love that answers to all that He represents as our 'Shepherd-Lover'." This session challenges us to consider where we are in our spiritual life - and where we need to be so as to be prepared for the soon-coming of our Redeemer and Savior: "The devil is behind all that would draw us out as spiritual adulteresses by entering into a friendship with this world (James 4:4). This would be the spiritual background of what the Shulamite woman was facing in The Song of Solomon; and this is the same thing the church has been facing throughout its history here on earth. Are we going to live as if this life is everything? And the best that Satan can give us in this life, are we going to exchange that for our birthright? Without a clear understanding of the revelation of the mystery of the Christ as explained through the Apostle Paul, there remains much misunderstanding and mixing of the eschatology of Israel and that of the church. In Prerequisites For the Lord's Return - Session 8, Doug clears up the confusion about the marriage of the Lamb to His bride, the church, as it is conducted and consummated in heaven, and the marriage supper of the Lamb is the celebration here on earth with expectant Israel depicted as the wise virgins who are the attendants awaiting the bridegroom and His wife. As the bride of Christ, it is our responsibility to make ourselves ready for our Bridegroom, to become without spot or wrinkle.
