We separate the breeds to prevent them from interbreeding.

We're raising the blue/green egglaying Silver Ameraucanas and the dark brown speckled egglaying French Black Copper Marans. Eggs for hatching should be collected as soon as possible when it's cold outside. Temperatures less than 45°F can kill the embryo. The unwashed fertile eggs are then stored in the upright position at room temperature and turned over to the opposite end at least once a day until placed in the incubator. Planning to save at least 12 of the darkest eggs to start.

Today we had a "balmy" high of 45°F with Heavy Rain following more than a week of Sub-Freezing / Sub-Zero Ice and Snow. Getting ready to clean out the Coop and get everything ready to hatch a batch of baby chicks!

Not bad at all, as is, but since we still have power, I'm cranking it up a notch in the Air Fryer. I didn't have any Corn Flakes, so I used Panko Bread Crumps instead.

So far, so good; no explosion or anything weird yet and it's below freezing outside. Attempting to boil 6 cups of water

This is "Hashbrown Casserole", not "Funeral Potatoes".
