The Boardgame Mechanics Review Gnome Hollow
#JasonReviews #boardgamemechanics #news
Since the beginning of time, gnomes have been the humble caretakers of nature. In secret, they emerge from their underground homes to maintain meticulous rings of mushrooms known to the human folk as "fairy rings". But the work must be done quickly because as soon as a mushroom path is finished, the mushrooms are ready for picking. Who will be the cleverest gnome and harvest the most mushrooms by the end of the season?
Gnome Hollow is a spatial, tile-placement, worker-placement game in which you grow a tabletop garden of mushrooms and flowers. Every piece is a hand-painted watercolor that captures the whimsical feel of gnomes and nature. Turns are deceptively simple: Players place tiles into the garden, and move a gnome to take a single action on their turn. Come to Gnome Hollow and experience a peaceful garden, the thrill of competing to harvest buckets of mushrooms, and the reward of gathering in all your shiny treasures!
· Immerse yourself in Gnome Hollow, a captivating fun strategy game where players cultivate a vibrant garden of mushrooms and flowers using strategic tile and worker placement mechanics.
· Harvest valuable mushrooms by completing intricate rings, select rewarding bonuses, and sell your mushrooms at the market for the shiniest treasures for points in the hollow.
· Enjoy automatic score calculation on player boards, ensuring smooth game play and allowing you to focus on strategic decisions and garden development.
· MAGNETIC BOARDS - Gnome Hollow features magnetic player boards, breathtaking components, and an advanced variant for added depth and replayability.
· STUNNING ARTWORK - Designed by Ammon Anderson, Gnome Hollow features stunning art and intuitive game play, perfect for both new and experienced board game enthusiasts.
· EASY TO LEARN & FUN TO MASTER - With simple rules, strategic depth, and engaging mechanics, Gnome Hollow is ideal for 2-4 players seeking a delightful gaming experience.

The Boardgame Mechanics Review Fresco: Card Game
#JasonReviews #boardgamemechanics #news
Fresco: The Card Game takes the core game play of Fresco and distills it into a smaller, faster playing design.
The Bishop has specific wishes when it comes to the new fresco that should brighten up the cathedral. He has very particular instructions about what should be painted in specific places. Players will take on the role of painters attempting to paint the new fresco according to his instruction, receiving points in the game for painting the Fresco and bonus points for fulfilling the Bishops' requests.
During the game players draw color cards which they will use to paint sections of the fresco. Color cards can be gained from the market, which holds the three basic colors, or from the workshop, which contains the mixed color palette. When players have enough colors they can paint a section of the fresco and gain points. Play the right combination of cards, and you will extra points.
When all sections of the fresco are painted, players total up their points and who has the most points is the winner of the game.

The Boardgame Mechanics Review Fresco: Dice Game
#JasonReviews #boardgamemechanics #news
Fresco - The Dice Game
Roll and combine the right combination of dice to gain fresco tiles and be the first to complete your fresco!
The goal of the game is to complete the five different tiles to form a complete fresco. In order to complete a fresco tile players have to roll a result that matches the number next to each fresco tile.
On their turn, players roll the dice exactly three times, on each roll setting one die aside. After the three rolls, the pips on the three set aside dice are added together, which allows the player to collect the corresponding tile. If the result does not match a fresco tile number, they gain a portrait token which will grant bonuses or points. The two color dice can be used to double the number on the corresponding colored die, making it easier to reach the higher numbers.
Before a turn players can place the bishop on one of the five fresco tile spaces, earning extra points if they manage to roll that exact number. Other players can bet on whether the player is successful or not, and will earn some extra points if they guess correctly. At the end of the game, players count the points on their fresco and portrait tiles, and whomever has the most points is the winner of the game.

The Boardgame Mechanics Talk Through Furnace: Interbellum
#JasonReviews #BoardgameMechanics #news
Furnace expands into the twenties and thirties of the twentieth century — the interwar period known as the interbellum. In this expansion, you will find new Company cards and Capitalists, new abilities, Manager tokens, variable Capital discs, a set of components for a fifth player, and new Agents for two-player and single-player games. All of this exists within beautiful industrial buildings and structures from the epoch of Art Deco, Constructivism, and Bauhaus.
Interbellum is designed for players who are already familiar with Furnace. The expansion is best played if all of its elements are added to the base game, but if you don’t feel up to it, you can get to know it piece by piece.

Welcome to River Valley! The beautiful pieces of glass that can be found along the river here have attracted the most entrepreneurial of woodland creatures to set up shop.
In River Valley Glassworks, you play as one of these pioneers, drafting glass from the market of river tiles. To do so, you have to play a piece from your inventory into the river. Each river tile can take only a specific shape, and you must play into a space adjacent to where you want to draft from. After you pick up your glass, the river shifts forward, revealing new pieces and new opportunities.
Store the glass you pick up strategically in your shop. Depending on how the glass pieces are placed, your score will change drastically. Fill in rows and columns to gain bonus points, but don't draft too many of one type to avoid negative points!

The Boardgame Mechanics Review Quartz: The Dice Game
#JasonReviews #boardgamemechanics #news
It seems that new mines keep being discovered... But these mines aren't that big and all the dwarves will have to run to get the most out of them in just one day! In this dice version of Quartz, the bet remains the same: Everyone must explore the mine and sell the mined crystals in the city at the end of the day. The dwarf who manages to collect the most money will have the mine all to himself.
The game is divided into six rounds. On their turn each player must:
1. Mine a crystal:
The player draws a crystal from the bag and places it on his cart.
If the mined crystal is an unstable crystal, the player receives a
reroll marker. There is no limit to the number of reroll tokens a player can have.
2. Roll the dice:
Each player has up to three dice rolls per turn. In the first, all 5 dice must be rolled. In the second and third they can reroll as many dice as they want. If it has a Reroll Marker, the player can discard it to perform an extra reroll.
3. Perform actions:
According to the result of the dice the player will be able to perform one or more actions. The more faces of the same action are available, the more efficient that action will be. Actions allow the player to mine more crystals, steal crystals, store crystals in the chest, or transfer unstable crystals to opponents.
At the end of the game everyone receives points according to the value of the crystals they have, being entitled to bonus points for collections of equal crystals. Each unstable crystal will penalize its owner 3 points less and the player with the fewest crystals in the chest loses 5 points.

The Boardgame Mechanics Review Rebel Princess: 2nd Edition
#JasonReviews #boardgamemechanics #news
0:00 - Intro
0:08 - Title Screen
0:27 - Description of the Game
2:05 - Components
4:17 - Final Thoughts
7:15 - Credits
Snow White, The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, and many other fairy tale princesses are celebrating a five-day party. The prince charmings, who have not been invited, will try to infiltrate the ball to propose marriage to the girls. As a princess, you have to avoid marriage proposals and remain single and independent after the celebrations.
Rebel Princess takes place over five rounds, representing the five days of a party, and each round has a special rule that makes each game totally different. The general mechanisms are those of trick-taking games, in which each player plays a numbered card into each trick, following one of the four suits in the game. The player with the highest number of the suit that started the trick takes all the cards of that trick — but that's not necessarily good as players want to avoid taking cards with prince charmings, who each bring one marriage proposal, aside from the enchanted frog who brings five proposals. The player with the fewest marriage proposals after five rounds wins.
Importantly, each player assumes the role of a different fairy tale princess and has a special ability that they can use once per round.
Compared to the original edition, Rebel Princess Deluxe Edition features:
Two new Princesses and six new Round cards
Princess cards upgraded to thick punchboard tiles
Round cards upgraded to Tarot-sized cards with rules text on each card
Balance tweaks to existing rules, rounds, and princesses
A new "Rebel of the Ball" mechanism to allow players to catch up if they are falling too far behind
