Just a capture from my Samsung N501 DVD player which does in fact play video games, thanks to the NUON chip inside. Granted, so few games were released for the NUON that you can count them on two hands with fingers to spare. Merlin Racing was made by Miracle Designs, which previously created Atari Karts on the Atari Jaguar. Where the latter was made as an 'answer' of a sort to Super Mario Kart, Merlin Racing was the 'answer' to Mario Kart 64. This game was able to produce better graphics than MK64, given that the characters were all in 3D instead of sprites - I'll do a comparison video here soon. #videogames #nuon #gaming

Collectors & fans of the obscure VM Labs NUON console can finally rejoice as Songbird Productions has finally come up with a solution for the controller problem - instead of resolving the issues that have made creating brand new controllers a problem, they've created an adapter that allows one to connect a Nintendo 64 controller to use on the system. A fun track from the official "Splatune" soundtrack to the first game in Nintendo's original IP series

Space Invaders has been ported to almost every system out there, Nintendo's Game Boy Color included. Many ports never had music but this one did, since it came out in 1999 when a game with just sound effects wouldn't cut it. Taito is celebrating 45 years of Space Invaders in 2023 - will there be new games coming along to be a part of all that?

The Atari Lynx featured extremely powerful hardware for 1989, part of that being the MIKEY soundchip. MIKEY was an evolution of the popular POKEY chip that Atari used in their 400/800 computers, 5200 & XE game consoles and various arcade machines. But, it was a little strange to work on so it wasn't always utilized in many games. Here, chipist Tobikomi shows off what MIKEY could do and it slaps. My excuse is I was paying more attention to my conversation about Gimmick than the game :P P-47 Aces Mk.II was released earlier in 2022 worldwide via the exA-Arcadia system and is a remaster/remake of the original 1996 arcade shmup by Jaleco. The original game is playable on this, as are two new modes, the Mk.II remix being the one I'm playing here and it's really well done and a lot of fun. In 4-player mode, players can grab power-ups much like how it's handled in Dariusburst AC (one player touches one and it remains for others to grab).
