Arcade Galactic is Affordable Fun!
https://arcadegalactic.com - There are a lot of things you can't buy for $5 these days. Even many arcades out there are starting to charge $2.50 or even $5 per game! Not at Arcade Galactic. We still have many games that only cost 25¢ and a majority of our newer games are only $1.
Make your money go farther for fun at Arcade Galactic at the Valley Fair Shopping Center in West Valley City, UT.

Touring The Utah Retro GameXpo
Last week I attended an awesome retro gaming event in Utah called the Utah Retro GameXpo. There was a little Atari there, but plenty of Nintendo, Sega, and Sony goodness to behold as well. My favorite part was the Quake LAN...I'll post a separate, full video of that later.

Could Atari Games & Midway IP Be Up For Grabs? Warner Bros. Might Be Selling
Too many wishlist discussions online about which Atari games you'd like to see resurrected come from either an ignorance or misunderstanding of game history - the company operating as Atari right now does not own any of the "Atari Games" branded video arcade IP that you would've played back in the 80s and 90s (Paperboy, Marble Madness, Area 51, San Francisco RUSH, etc). But as business continues to suck over at WarnerBros. Discovery, some of their smaller assets might be up for sale, including portions of their game division. #wbgames #warnerbros #gamingnews

One Of The First Co-Op Video Games: Atari's Fire Truck (1978)
https://www.arcade-history.com/?n=fire-truck&page=detail&id=854 - Among my last arcade videos from California Extreme 2024 (I'll be getting back to "regularly scheduled programming" soon) is a rare game from Atari that marks a milestone in gaming history - it was one of the first (possibly the first) co-operative video games ever. The only issue is that it was a timed game - you're not actually trying to get to a fire to put out. You're just seeing how far you can get before the clock runs out.

Atari Rarities: Quantum
https://www.arcade-history.com/?n=quantum&page=detail&id=2099 - Only selling 500 units, Quantum is an obscure color X/Y (vector) game released in November of 1982 (just weeks before the Great Video Game Crash began). That is probably the main reason it didn't sell well - arcade operators at the time also hated vector monitors due to unreliable hardware like they had experienced with Tempest. Played at California Extreme 2024; stay tuned for more Atari arcade videos.

Bombinating The Countryside In Atari's Canyon Bomber (Arcade)
https://www.arcade-history.com/?n=canyon-bomber&page=detail&id=377 - It's time to blow up a canyon for no other reason than fun! Better as a two player game, this was the first time I had come across the arcade version, only having played it on the 2600 back in the day. It's a tough game, although I imagine you could remake it with power-ups and call it Super Canyon Bomber. Played at California Extreme 2024

Become The Invaders In Atari Force Liberator
https://www.arcade-history.com/?n=liberator&page=detail&id=1386 - In a sort of pseudo-sequel to Missile Command, Atari Force Liberator reverses the MC concept by having you bomb a planet into submission. I personally enjoy this game more than MC, although the difficulty curve and release date is likely the reason why it was a dud.

Happy Birthday Metroid! Let's Play Some Metroid II [Nintendo Game Boy]
Today marks 38 years since Metroid landed on the NES. Instead of playing that, lets play the version I was most familiar with back in the day - Metroid II: The Return of Samus. I play for about 30 min, only the first few minutes have commentary.

Playing Pinball: Airborne Avenger by Atari
Made in 1977, Airborne Avenger was a kind of James Bond/spy theme pinball machine designed by Steve Ritchie, George Opperman, and Eugene Jarvis. This and every other Atari-developed pinball table was at California Extreme 2024 (CAX). Stay tuned for more!

Going Into Overtime With NBA Superstars by Raw Thrills

Let's Play Coleco's Long Lost Tarzan For The Atari 2600
I'm not a ColecoVision guy and have never played that system, but I've played plenty of Coleco-made games for the 2600. Here's one that was canned when it was just about finished at the end of '84 - TARZAN. Coleco's answer to Pitfall!, you must brave the various dangers of the jungle to rescue your captured animal friends. Once you get the hang of it, it's fun, although a little easy. Played on the default game variation, didn't check for others. More info on the history + recent work to restore it:

Coming Soon To Arcades: Breakers Revenge Chicago
https://arcadeheroes.com - Breakers is back, with Breakers Revenge Chicago. Launching exclusively on the coin-operated exA-Arcadia platform, this is an obscure 1v1 fighting game that originally launched in the 1990s to the NEO GEO MVS, developed by Visco Games.
Think of it as a deeper version of Street Fighter II, with mechanics like dash cancels and such that require a little more skill from the player than SF2 does.
This new edition will feature new art, music, and some other changes, while supporting up to 4K monitors.

How Powerful Was The Super Atari VCS (The Atari 3200)?
Back in 1981, Atari was working on an Intellivision killer codenamed "Project Sylvia," "Super Stella," or the Atari 3200. What were the specs for this unfinished console and what kind of games would it have had? Let's discuss; H/T to the late Curt Vendel who did so much work in uncovering the history on this.
