Mormon vs. Christian Debate: The Nature of God
Robert Gurr, an apologist for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly known as Mormonism), joins me for a debate on the nature of God. Chaos ensues.

Brigham Young (Mormonism's 2nd president-prophet): "The Father came down and begat Him (Jesus), the same as we do now..." ('The Complete Discourses of Brigham Young,' vol. 1, p.321)
James Talmage (LDS apostle): "Jesus Christ is the Son of Elohim both as spiritual and bodily offspring; that is to say, [the Father] is LITERALLY the Father of the spirit of Jesus Christ and ALSO of the BODY in which Jesus Christ performed His mission in the flesh." ('The Articles of Faith,' p. 466)
Joseph F. Smith (Mormonism's 6th president-prophet): "We are told in the scriptures that Jesus Christ is the only begotten son of God in the flesh...how are children begotten? I answer, just as Jesus was begotten of His Father. The Christian denominations believe that Christ was begotten of God, but of the Spirit that overshadowed His mother. This is nonsense. Why will they not believe the Father when He says that Jesus Christ is His Only Begotten Son? Why will they try to explain this truth away and make mystery of it?" ('Box Elder Times')
Ezra T. Benson (Mormonism's 13th's president-prophet): "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints proclaims that Jesus Christ is the Son of God in THE MOST LITERAL SENSE. The body in which He performed His mission in the flesh was SIRED by that same Holy Being we worship as God, our Eternal Father." ('Teachings of ET Benson,' p. 6)
Bruce McConkie (LDS apostle): "'Only Begotten Son': These name-titles all signify that our Lord is the only Son of the Father in the flesh. Each of the words is to be understood LITERALLY. Only means only, begotten means begotten, and Son means son. Christ was begotten by an Immortal Father IN THE SAME WAY that mortal men are begotten by mortal fathers." ('Mormon Doctrine,' p. 546)

The Wisdom of Immolation
My wife Rachel and I performed a "burning ceremony." We made a body cast of Rachel out of Saran wrap and duct tape, filled it full of kennel shavings, and set it ablaze. We symbolically immolated all of Rachel's negativity and baggage, so that she might be born anew ;P
