Whenever revival breaks out, there's an expectation in the hearts of God's people. But what exactly is revival and how do we know if what we're seeing is a true one or not?

Nothing will destroy a congregation quicker than selfishness. When people are only interested in getting their own needs met, the very essence for the congregation to be there begins to fall apart. The assemblies were set up by God to have the needs of the community met and sacrifice by everyone is what makes that happen.

The craziness we see in the world today is driven by the internal problem of selfishness. When people look after their own interests at the expense of others, eventually, society itself breaks down.

Selfishness destroys people, families, communities and all of society. The Bible has a cure for selfishness and that is humility. When we humble ourselves, we give glory to God.

Remembrance Day helps us recall the sacrifice our soldiers made to secure our freedom. But many times in Scripture, God tells us to remember certain things and also tells us what He remembers. Studying them helps us to understand His faithfulness.

As we approach the Feast of Shavuot, we remember it is a harvest festival. But why is that so important? What exactly is the harvest God wants to give us?

After complaining to God about lawlessness in society, God responds to Habakkuk about what He was going to do. How many times have we been shocked by God's answer to to and His plan?

The prophet Habakkuk sees injustice and corruption all around him. He complains to God as to why He allows it. Habakkuk's complaint is nothing new, nor is ours today with what we see in society

After lodging his complaint to God about the wickedness and lawlessness in Judah, God answer Habakkuk in a shocking way - He was going to send a foreign, pagan nation to judge them. How many times does God give us an answer that shocks us?

When God finally answers Habakkuk's complaint about the lack of justice, God's response shocks him. He's going to send the Babylonians to be His instrument of judgment. God's ways are certainly unlike ours and He does things in a way we never would. That is what keeps us humble before Him.

The righteous cry out for God's justice and judgment and many times are left feeling like the wicked will just keep getting away with it. Or you felt you've been given a promise and it's not coming to pass. God's promises are always guaranteed, even if it seems like they're delayed. His timing is different from ours.

The 1987 movie Wall Street told us "greed is good." Paul tells us the love of money is the root of most evil. People desire either money or power to rule over others. We can see both in Habakkuk's time and today how the pursuit of money destroys society.

The Babylonians had practices that were abhorrent to a righteous man and yet, here God is telling Habakkuk that was who was going to be Judah's judge.

Habakkuk spent the first 2 chapters of his letter making his case to God and trying to understand what God told him was going to happen. Once the back and forth were complete, he was left to stand and see how the Lord was going to fulfill His promise. We often find ourselves in the same position.

As we wait for the harvest to arrive on Shavuot, we have to ask ourselves, what kind of harvest should we be expecting and what determines what harvest we get?

One of the most used titles for God in the Bible, one that is hardly used today is Lord of Armies. God is depicted as a warrior and it is to put fear into those who would think to oppose Him.

The Torah is abundantly clear that famine is a judgment of God caused by sin. When a society turns away from righteousness and keeping God's commandments, He removes His hand of provision.
