Nancy Moral is a Life Long Professional Educator, Musician, Wife, Mother and Small Family Farmer, Teaching Self-Sufficiency and growing in God's Love. Nancy has a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and a Master's Degree in Educational Technology and Research. She was a Florida certified teacher for over 30 years and taught in public and private schools, K-12 and college levels, and is the founder and administrator of a K-12 private school for homeschoolers. Nancy has written numerous publications, developed curricula for the state of Florida and the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and served on boards and advisory councils for homeschooling and accreditation organizations writing policies and procedures. She was an invited speaker to offer a "Presentation" before the Florida Senate Education Sub-committee regarding the use of the McKay Scholarship in a homeschool setting for children with disabilities which she did successfully for hundreds of families for 4 years. The committee included Debbie Wasserman Schultz who was critical of this model. INTERESTING EVENTS OCCURRED AFTER THIS PRESENTATION: According to Nancy, the state eventually formulated the Florida Gardiner Scholarship modeled in part after Family Tree Private School's unique program that allowed parents to “personalize the education of their children with special needs." But, after the presentation on how Family Tree used the McKay scholarship to homeschool special needs students, a new law was passed that stopped Family Tree Private School specifically from continued participation in the McKay by adding a requirement to have a building, and have students physically attend. The choice was made to not add a building. Family Tree proudly jokes that it took an act of congress to stop this effective, independent program! The effort to stop Family Tree's participation was driven by the desire to control the money flow away from parental control. Regardless, more successes followed as Nancy continued in her career, and the non-profit under which Family Tree operates is still serving the public today!
