"It's not quite the season of love, but maybe it can be the season of underground music downloading. Let's start with rave. An organized underground party involving music and dancing. Raves typically involve one or more DJs playing electronic dance music such as techno, trance, breakbeat, jungle, and ambient. Usually starting after dusk and lasting through 'til dawn, drug use at raves often runs rampant; particularly the use of Ecstasy and LSD. Raves can vary greatly in size and scope, hosting from dozens to thousands of guests, and lasting from one night to a few days. Classically, ravers have maintained a strong community spirit and have promoted an ideal called PLUR, an acronym for Peace, Love, Unity and Respect. These values have unfortunately faded somewhat since the onset of a newer generation of ravers unfamiliar with these concepts so elemental to the original scene. Techno. House. Acid Jazz. Trance. These are some of the names of the kinds of music that the rave subculture is known to love. It's electronic or produced by computers, has a speed of least 120 beats per minute and typically involves sound bites from other songs. Techno music is made by deejays (DJs) who mix and synthesize beats together. Many ravers love this type of music because it stimulates imagination, creativity and transcendence."
