Queen Elizabeth II Elizabeth Alexandra Mary (April 21, 1926 - September 8, 2022) Queen of Great Britain and 15 others of the Commonwealth level. Elizabeth was born in Mayfair, London, the first child of The Duke and Duchess of York (later King George VI and Queen) Elizabeth). Her father ascended the throne in 1936 when the abdication of her brother, King Edward VIII, making Elizabeth the hypothetical heir. She was educated privately at home and started public service during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In November 1947, she got married Philip Mountbatten, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, with with whom she had four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Royal Princess; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex. When her father died in February 1952, Elizabeth—25 years old at the time old—became queen of seven independent nations Commonwealth countries: United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan and Ceylon, as well as Head of the Commonwealth. On April 9, 2021, after more than 73 years of marriage, her husband, Prince Philip, passed away at 99. Elizabeth died for almost a year and the second half, on September 8, 2022 at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, aged 96, and succeeded by her eldest sister son, King Charles III. Her state funeral was the first to be held in Great Britain since Winston Churchill in 1965.
