Decades of Rock

DECADES OF ROCK IS... CARL CAMPBELL (bass guitar, vocals): A self taught musician, Carl began playing xylophones in grade school, but quickly moved to guitar through the influence of his father. "He always had guitars lying around the house that he would play on." Carl didn't take music very seriously until he turned 14. That was when he saw his first real rock concert. It was over after that. The driving force in his life became learning music. Guitar players like George Lynch, Eddie Van Halen, Nuno Bettencourt, Joe Satriani and most of the eighties Hair Metal greatly influenced his playing style. After nearly 10 years of playing Carl switched to bass, simply because he could never find a bass player that he could depend upon. Carl joined several bands in the Denver area, playing everything from Metal to Country. His heart was always in the Rock and Metal genre of music especially the technically challenging styles of Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Anthrax, Mr. Big, etc. "Nothing is more fulfilling than playing on stage." says Carl, "It is a high that you can't get from anything else. I play for everyone in the audience; it doesn't matter if it is a packed house or 2 people at the bar. I try to bring an attitude to the crowd that will make them enjoy the music as much as I do. ROCK ON!" MICHAEL G. MALTESE (guitar, vocals): Michael G. Maltese received his B.A. in Music from Metropolitan State College, studying guitar under maestros Alex Kommodore and Michael Chapdelaine (a former student of the great Andres Segovia). While giving student recitals, Michael has performed with the MSCD Classical Guitar Ensemble, and the Denver Symphony Orchestra (now the Colorado Symphony Orchestra), and with appearances in various master classes featuring maestro Elliot Fisk and other notable instructors. A seasoned instructor himself, he has guided countless hopefuls to thriving musical careers. Michael has been playing guitar; doing studio work with bands such as Nuaje Blue, The Andy Salas Band and Brilliance Of Rhoads, and also touring the United States and the local Denver area now for 30 years with such bands as Hollow Point, Twice Shy, Boneyard, (to name but a few), and now Decades Of Rock. He also plays drums, bass guitar, piano, cello, ukulele, and has been known to sing on occasion. In addition to live performance, Michael has remained faithful to composition, supplementing a catalogue of works for solo classical guitar and other instruments with new pieces including choral works, piano works, transcriptions for guitar, and a full scale symphony.
