Alvin Plantinga's Epistemology

Some things can be known without relying on evidence from other things we know. Those are the properly basic beliefs (PBBs). All evidence has to come from somewhere, and PBBs are where it comes from. Not just any belief can be a PBB. It has to be one we can know in some way other than through evidence from other things we know. And — surprise! — Alvin Plantinga thinks belief in G-d can be a PBB. But how do we know which things can be in the category of PBBs? Plantinga borrows from Roderick Chisholm‘s advice for figuring out something like this: First, make a nice list of beliefs we know fit into a particular category of beliefs; next, carefully look at the beliefs in that list to figure out a criterion for beliefs in that category; finally, use that criterion to see whatever other beliefs might fit into that category. Plantinga gets his list of PPBs from common-sense beliefs, drawing from Thomas Reid. Then there’s some inductive logic to get to the criterion. (Hint: It involves properly functioning faculties!) And then there’s an explanation of why Plantinga thinks Christian belief meets that criterion. It took Plantinga more than three decades and well over a thousand pages to do all this. But he eventually did it, and it’s some pretty awesome philosophy.

The Bio of Allison Prior and Bernie Scott The Prior/Scott Project (Allison Prior and Bernie Scott) formed since 1998 Allison and Bernie have been performing around Newfoundland together now since 1998 , performing in clubs and venues, and festivals , plus a Television performance for "Up at St. John's Lane," on Rogers Cable, and special guests For M.U.N. CHMR 93.5FM Downhomer Christmas 2003. Allison and Bernie with over 20 years experience in the entertainment business, have organized shows for conventions, fundraisers, clubs, and festivals, such as the fundraiser at the Holy Heart of Mary for the Sept 11, tragedy, Barry Canning, Rasa, Gearbox, Kelly Ann Evans, Jim Fidler, and The Prior/Scott Project were generous participants Allison and Bernie brought to the show, and tremendous publicity from all the radio stations, and NTV, telegram, and others. Bernie composed and recorded music for the song "Stars in Time", which won 1st place in a national songwriting competition in South Carolina, and was aired on CBC radio. Other project, Allison and Bernie have been selected for the Juno Showcase, and performed at the St. John's airport on Saturday April 13, 2002. Allison and Bernie helped organize plus perform in the " Lantern Festival". The Prior/Scott Project were selected to perform for the 16th annual lighting of the Christmas Tree, at City Hall in St. John's. We were members of the Arts Association of Mount Pearl, and performed at their events.. Allison's song "I'll Miss You When Your Gone", co-written with Bernie Scott, had airplay on Radio Newfoundland. The song "Let's Go", is getting airplay in the U.S., "Bell Island" and "I Love You for the Rest of my Life" has been getting airplay on our local radio stations vowram.. Now 2021 to present Allison and Bernie are live streaming their original and cover music on TIKTOK with over 22,000 followers and Facebook , plus formed a band called "A Touch of Class", performing at the Black Sheep on George Street, Nov 24, 2023.. Allison Prior and Bernie Scott Singer/Songwriter, Artist, singing sincing since the age of 3 , Performing many concerts, theatre, festivals, tv, radio, Movies, Dinner Theatre's, Community Events..
