Amish in a Minute

Hi, my name is Haylee Streuss, I’m a wife, homeschooling mother of six, and an Amish driver. I live in Rural Missouri and have been driving the Amish for about four years. When I return back home to Portland Oregon I’m inundated with questions about the Amish. In my travels with the Amish I get asked many questions, and learn that much of society doesn’t really understand the Amish. For that reason I decided to, a couple of times a week, share a little bit about what I know about the Amish, and what I’m doing in my travels with the Amish. It will give you a glimpse in to their lives. The Amish are like a time capsule, they have a treasure trove of knowledge, skills and traditions preserved from the past, because, in the present, they still live many of those ways. If you have any questions about the Amish, or would like to get some specific information, say one of their home remedies, recipes, or where to purchase their goods or services, please let me know and I’ll do a little video on that. As the Amish say…Good day!

The 15-minute book club

The 15-minute Book Club is a weekly podcast about all things book-related. Reviews, interviews, classics, best-sellers, a focus on a particular writer, genre or theme, a question of some sort... whatever... we’re all about the written word. Hosted by David Wares, ably assisted by Producer Wilson, the podcast is recorded on an old Grundig reel-to-reel in the dusty loft-space of the semi-abandoned Great Winter Library, somewhere in the twilight wastes of the north, and brought to you via the wonders of pigeon post, valve technology and a bloke called Gav, who works in a shed with a stolen Chinese supercomputer and uploads to the web using a 1963 Russian Soyuz Satellite.
