The ICMACY Foundation was founded with the purpose of creating awareness to Indian classical music (ICM) & Art, among Cypriot and European audiences. We aim to achieve this through planned concerts, workshops, lectures, demonstrations and artist interactions. Indian Classical Music is in essence entangled with Classical dance, history and so many other aspects of Indian art and culture. In this site we hope to give a broader presentation and explanation of ICM. Our narrative being from a more wider perspective, were quantum physics meets culture and East meets West.

Música clássica é um gênero musical erudito, caracterizado pela complexidade da instrumentação e por ser representada sob a forma de sinfonia, ópera ou outros tipos de desenvolvimentos musicais. Também conhecida por “música erudita”, os primórdios da música clássica podem ser remontados para o século IX, com base nas tradições da música sacra cristã ocidental. O seu crescimento tornou-se mais acentuado principalmente durante a Idade Média (entre o século XVI e XVIII). Saiba mais sobre o significado de Erudito. Não é uma tarefa fácil apontar os fatores que caracterizam a música clássica, visto que existem diversos tipos distintos de estilos, gêneros e formas que variam de acordo com o período histórico, por exemplo. Mas, existem algumas características que podem ser tidas como típicas das músicas eruditas, como: A instrumentação: formada predominantemente por diversos instrumentos musicais. Por norma, as orquestras são conhecidas pela reprodução de músicas clássicas. A sociedade: tradicionalmente, a música clássica ficou associada como um “bem” das sociedades refinadas e de intelectuais, excluindo tudo o que seja popular e proletário. Técnicas de execução: ao contrário da música popular, manifestada através de canções, a música clássica é composta por sinfonias, óperas, sonatas, entre outras formas mais complexas de desenvolvimento musical. A apresentação dos espetáculos: normalmente, a atmosfera construída na apresentação de um concerto de música clássica é formal e solene, ao contrário do que acontece em shows de músicos populares, por exemplo. Entre alguns dos principais compositores de músicas clássicas que ficaram marcados na história, destacam-se: Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Sebastian Bach, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, entre outros.
