Our purpose is to glorify God by forming a local congregation of the Church of Christ which will carry out the great commission of the Lord Jesus Christ as revealed in the New Testament of the Word of God (Matthew 28:18-20 and Mark 16:15-16). This congregation will provide opportunity for Christian people to continue steadfastly in the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread and prayers (Acts 2:42), and prepare them for works of service (Ephesians 4:12).

We remain strongly committed to the Restoration Plea to "Speak where the Bible speaks and remain silent where the Bible is silent." Such is a plea to abandon the man-made churches, names, creeds and teachings that are unauthorized by the New Testament. It is a plea for unity in Christ and His one true church. We are dedicated to the church's threefold work of evangelism, edification, and benevolence (Matthew 28: 18-20; Galatians 6: 1 0; James 1 :27). We are committed to the gospel plan of salvation for a lost and dying world, including faith in Christ as Lord and Savior, repentance of all sins, the good confession, immersion in water (baptism) for the remission of sins, and faithfulness to Christ (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; Romans 10:10; Revelations 2:10). We invite YOU to join us in this greatest of all works. In all things, may God receive the glory!

Hebrews

Timothy had been released from prison (13:23) but temple worship was still going on (see 5:1-4) so it was before 70 A.D. when the temple was destroyed by Titus Vespesian. Focus group: Hebrews! Jews. 3 distinct groups of Jews are going to be addressed in this book. 1) Those who had believed in Jesus as Lord and Savior- Saved Jews. 2) Those who had acknowledged the Gospel intellectually, but not embraced the doctrine of Salvation by Grace through faith in Jesus Christ. They knew with the head, but had not made the commitment to Him in faith. (returned to the old ways of The Law) 3) Those who had heard about the Gospel, were interested, but had made no commitment yet. Understanding Hebrews requires a working understanding of the Levitical Priesthood. We'll be doing some OT research into this along the way. Much time is spent in this Epistle comparing the Old Covenant with the New, and there are some dramatic differences! Temporary vs Eternal Limited vs Unlimited Conditional vs Unconditional Temporal i/e. stand-in priest vs Eternal Priest We'll also see a great deal of discussion about angels.
