Pokemon Eevee Emerald - Steel Monotype, Episode 1: Introduction
StreamZeroSo some people on Discord wanted me to upload recordings of these monotypes I've been doing for a while. This is the first of what will be a series of videos where I complete a romhack of Pokemon Emerald Version using only steel types in battle. The video's commentary is mostly unscripted and off-the-cuff. ==== Obligatory disclaimer: I don't own Pokemon (obviously), but because lawyers are gonna do what lawyers are gonna do, it bears mentioning that Pokemon is the intellectual property of Gamefreak and The Pokemon Company. This is purely for entertainment purposes and is not monetized in any way, and as such is covered under Fair Use. WARNING: My videos include crude humor and harsh language, they're largely unscripted and unfiltered, and they're not for kids. My intended target audience won't be offended by a little swearing, so I don't want to see any whining from pearl-clutching, deadbeat parents who refuse to take responsibility for what their children are doing online. To quote Mark Twain, "censorship is like telling a man he can't have a steak, just because a baby can't chew it."43 views -
Pokemon Eevee Emerald - Steel Monotype, Episode 2: The Road to Rustboro
StreamZeroThe second episode of the Steel monotype run, where I reach Rustboro City and also discuss some things to expect moving forward. I also include a couple of pointers which, while not necessarily useful to me, may be useful to some of you in your own playthroughs. I did make a couple of mistakes while recording this, but I figured they were inconsequential enough to leave in. Ruleset: ------------- 1) If I decide not to hack in a starter of the desired type, my normal starter may be used in battle until a pokemon of the relevant type is captured. The first pokemon of the run must be captured prior to fighting the first Gym Leader. Obviously, this means that for some teams I may have to cheat, but I prefer to keep that to a minimum, and if I must do this, then I'll attempt to limit myself appropriately. Of course, if my starter is of the correct type for the given monotype run, this does not apply. 2) A pokemon that is not of the monotype's chosen type is valid to use provided I evolve it prior to entering the Hall of Fame, or complete whatever post-game portion there is in a given game. For example, let's say I want to do an electric monotype run, I'm allowed to use an Eevee provided that I use a Thunder Stone to evolve it prior to beating the game. 3) No duplicate species on the team by the end. I may have, say, three Machops at one point on a fighting monotype type, but by the Hall of Fame I must have evolved one of them into Machoke and the other into Machamp if I want to keep all three on the team. 4) No more than two legendaries are permitted on the team, preferably no more than one, ideally none. Sometimes my options are limited enough that I may end up using, say, Regice on an ice monotype run. 5) Obviously, HM slaves and the like are permitted, I just can't use them in battle. If I have no choice, then I may only use non-damaging moves until I inevitably lose, or I'll just reset to before the battle depending on what happens and when I last saved. ======= Obligatory disclaimer: I don't own Pokemon (obviously), but because lawyers are gonna do what lawyers are gonna do, it bears mentioning that Pokemon is the intellectual property of Gamefreak and The Pokemon Company. This is purely for entertainment purposes and is not monetized in any way, and as such is covered under Fair Use (not that the copyright claim bots care). WARNING: My videos include crude humor and harsh language. They're largely unscripted and unfiltered, and they're not for little kids. My intended target audience won't be offended by a little swearing, so I don't want to see any whining from pearl-clutching, deadbeat parents who refuse to take responsibility for what their children are doing online. Pokemon Eevee Emerald - Steel Monotype, Episode 3: The Struggle is Real
StreamZeroHere's episode 3 on the monotype run, in which I do a little level grinding and proceed to engage in the longest battle against the first gym in this game, if not ANY pokemon game - I've ever had. Oh, and to add insult to injury? Due to some technical difficulties I had to battle Roxanne TWICE!
