But the foundation held. The tension, the pacing, the unsettling shifts, they were still usable. At the time I had been asking friends and family for NYC Midnight styled prompts. For The Last Resort, a friend of mine gave me an interesting combination of a dystopian science fiction (genre), on a ship (location), and to feature a whisk (object). While I remember having fun writing the story, when I read through it recently, I knew I'd have to redraft it.
